Has anyone ever spent a day on the Oak Trail Golf course? DH is not an experienced golfer but is getting into it.......

I read that they will arrange for a Taxi to take you from "select" resorts. Does "select" really mean Deluxe? We are staying at CBR, would they come there?

I have questions about golfing also. My DH is thinking about playing golf but since he is shy he is concerned with the fact the other golfers are so much better than he is. Plus how expensive is it to rent clubs? I think it would be good for him to play than I could shop. HA!

Tinksalot, both DH and DS played Oak Trail once and both really enjoyed it. They were much different in their golf ability, yet the course entertained both of them. I think the free Taxi service applies to any resort. DH generally rents a car, so we're not sure, but that's how it seems.
Kimis, tell DH not to worry about relative ability. The majority of golfers at WDW seem to be recreational, occassional golfers. And besides, everyone's just out to have a good time-it's WDW. I think it costs about $40 to rent clubs, but I'm not sure. However, I do know that the clubs are really good ones. Since DH golfs every day, he brings his own clubs (once those come through the baggage claim, he says "Well, I've got all I really need for the vacation"). Last I remember, they were renting Titlist clubs.

If you go to that link, it is a website that is committed to Disney golf from the fan's perspective.

Tell your DH's to relax and enjoy golf. I have met many nice people golfing some better than me, and some just beginning to learn the game. If they are worried about being with really good golfers, suggest they go out in the afternoon. Many good golfers go out in the morning.

You can also post your golf plans on the Disboards, and possibly find a golf partner or two that way.

I think they do provide taxis at CBR.

I hope this helps with your questions.

tinksalot, kimis, either of you going to be at WDW the second week of Dec. I'm a really new golfer looking for some appropriately (un)skilled folks to play with... :cool1:

Thanks so much! I hope this gets posted my computer is being rude today. HA! Anyway I hope dh does play so I can shop and relax a little. I will show him this site and see if it helps. Thanks again

Sorry CoasterAddict, we won't get there til January! :sad2: Thanks anyway!

All these replys should make DH feel better about his (in)ability! :rotfl2:

My husband and I have played Oak Trail several times. It is a very long walking course. I am a mediocre golfer at best and am very comfortable there. Two weeks ago, my husband talked me in to playing other Disney courses. We played Oak Trail, Eagle Pines, and Lake Buena Vista. My worst nightmares came true. We were paired up with other golfers who talked the talk, but when it came to putting their money where their mouths were, they really weren't all that good. I also kept an eye on other golfers ahead of us, and noone really seemed to be better than average golfers. We always played in the afternoon. We will be back in Disney again 11/30 thru 12/5 and will play golf that weekend.

I will golfing at WDW 12/20-22. If anyone is interested in joining me, then let me know.

Dh is looking for someone to play gold with during the time period between Jan 31 and Feb 9. Any one interested? He is an average golfer.
