So I have a few questions about renting golf carts at FW, I hear they are great to have?

When do you reserve one? How soon before your trip?
Do you keep it for your entire stay?
Are there parking spaces all over FW for them?
Was it worth it to have?
How much did you pay?
How do you know which is yours? Do they have individual keys?
How many people can ride in one... what about infants/toddlers?

Thanks!

There is a great thread on the camping boards devoted to all things golf cart. You might want to read through it in case there are questions you haven't thought of yet.

Golf carts at FW... How does it work?

How does it work :confused3, you push the pedal on the right to make it go fast! :car:

So I have a few questions about renting golf carts at FW, I hear they are great to have? I always enjoyed them, technically you didn't really stay at the campground if you didn't rent a golf cart. :lmao:

When do you reserve one? How soon before your trip? We always rented one when we got there without a reservation.

Do you keep it for your entire stay? Yes we do, but you don't have to. You can rent for one day or any portion of stay.

Are there parking spaces all over FW for them? Yes

Was it worth it to have? Not sure, our family had a blast on it and it became an attraction in and of itself. We probably could have done fine without it though.

How much did you pay? Can't remember, but it wasn't a lot in my opinion

How do you know which is yours? Do they have individual keys? Yes and numbers on the side if I remember right.

How many people can ride in one... what about infants/toddlers? Back when I was in high school we fit 15 people on one, but I think Disney likes you to keep it four adults or less. Kids are fine also, I have seen baby's held by their mothers. If your child is prone to standing and jumping off vehicles you might want to sit them in the front seat next to you. I don't think the carts go much faster than 30 mph so they are pretty safe, they don't even have seatbelts. :scared1:

Thanks!

My real answers are after your questions.

Hey, I found a few links for ya:

Cart rental Rules here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1733453

And a how-to FAQ here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1733453

and here: http://allears.net/acc/faq_fw.htm

That states:

Do I need a golf cart to get around inside Fort Wilderness and how much are they?

Fort Wilderness is a large resort area. The Fort Wilderness map says the campground is "one mile as the crow flies" long but some say it's more like 1.5 miles long, one-half mile wide. There are internal buses running within the campground to get you to the marina, the Trading Posts, pools, etc., but bus waits can be up to 20 minutes. It is very much of an advantage time-wise to either have bicycles or to have the electric carts.

Guests often rent an electic cart to Explore the more than 700 acres of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Carts have windshields and headlights, seat up to 4 adults and can be rented by the day or the week. Guests must be 18 years or age and older to rent a cart, and reservations are highly recommended. Carts can be rented for $54/day plus tax at the Outpost (407-824-2742). Fort Wilderness carts may be reserved up to one year in advance.

The cost of the golf cart "to us" was very expensive, you can be the judge,
It's about $50 per day. If you do decide to get the cart it would be best to reserve it, especially if you are going during a prime time.
