We bought a golf cart, but I don't know if it is a good match for us. There are 6 of us. Me, DH, DS 8, DS4, DS14, DSD16. It is an electric cart. Would we be better off with a gas one? It is a fixer upper and my dh talked to a guy that sells them. He said we could just do some cosmetic stuff and sell if for triple what we paid. So, any advice would be helpful.

It depends a lot on what age it is and what condition it is in. It also depends on how often you might use one with all six of you. I'm assuming yours is a 2 or 4 passenger electric. Gas carts are not supposed to be used at FW, but I see a lot of offenders there. I don't know if a gas would be of any real benefit over the electric, assuming the electric is tricked out with good components. Ours is stock, so we aren't speed demons, but it gets us around. We would like a six passenger, but we would then need a new trailer to move it, so right now we put three in the front and two in the back. Oops, now a new baby, so there goes 3 and 3. We've done it before using rachet straps to hold car seats on the rear platform. Not easy, but it works.

I didn't know you weren't supposed to use gas ones at the fort. Well, that makes the decision really easy.
Thanks

Gas carts are permitted. But I can tell you that a well maintained electric cart (36 or 48v) will work just fine. Our group owns several carts both gas and electric. When at disney the electrics generally need to be charged every 2-4 days depending on how often use use it and night time operation which if you have head and tail lights do shorten the charging intervals. All of our carts are 4 seaters and we are generally carrying 4-5 people no matter where we are going.

Thanks everyone!!! I feel a lot better about our purchase now. We will be bringing it at Thanksgiving week so we have plenty of time to get it all fixed up and ready to go!!

Glad to have shared our experience. I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the cart! I know we enjoy the ease of having them.
