Golf Cart ressie question

At this time we do not have any credit cards/debit cards. We are going to be going to be staying in the FW Cabins next Oct. (2007) and want to rent a golf cart. I have seen where you can add them on to you reservation. Is this true? I know you need to rent ASAP but how far in advance is essential? We will have a card by the time of our trip just not sure when.

We rented ours about three months out and it was available for the whole week (we're going Dec 16-22, 2006)
You have to rent through the Bike Barn at FW 407-824-2742. I don't believe you can do it on your resort reservations.
You will need a credit card to hold the reservation.

It really depends on the time of year you go. We always go at spring break so if you aren't booked a year in advance, you probably won't get a golf cart. Also, the closer you are to Halloween '07 the earlier you must reserve. Suggestion, Visa now offers a Cash/Debit card you put cash into and then use it just like a credit card. There are two types, one you can "reload" and one you use until it is empty. It has numbers just like a regular Credit card, even the security number on the back. Not all banks have them so check the Visa website for a bank near you.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone know the cost of the golf carts? Can you also reserve and rent by day and hour, or only by the week?

We had a similar situation before we started planning our trip. We keep just one credit card for emergencies and we have a regular ATM linked to a savings for a quick cash option. We don't use any cards linked to a checking and can't afford significant credit card debt. When I first brought up the idea of a WDW trip for our family to my husband, he was very interested but insisted we find a way to do it without running up our credit card each month.

So, I was on a mission. How do I make reservations, order tickets, make ADRs and reserve our golf cart without a credit card? The reality is, you can't. But I found a way around it. An independent (not attached to a bank account) debit card made the most sense. I did a lot of research on all the different ones that are out there and have some really good information for you about the ones that seem to be the most flexible. PM me if you are interested in the info. Bottom line, our trip will be paid for before we get there, all paid in cash, up front. We'll take the credit card just in case of an emergency, but we won't use it unless we have to. We will each have a debit Mastercard with our spending money on it and carry a little cash.

Yes, they can be added to packages, just call CRO or your TA

One of the reasons for the credit card when renting a golf cart is just like if you rent a regular car,if you have an accident with the golf cart you can be charged for any damage. I am not sure about a debit card, you might want to ask when you call.

I have always used my Visa debit card to reserve and pay for my golf cart, room reservation, dining, etc., they are treated just like credit cards because they have the Visa logo.
