Golf Cart Rear Seat Question

I just wanted to make sure you knew about that.......

Yeah...Ive looked up everything on the internet hoping for some magic method...rubber mallot to the rear of the steering wheel is the most popular and said to be the easiest.....but those suggestions came from NV and CA.....nice dry climate there...I think the humidity makes the joint swell....It looks like Im going to have to hacksaw it. Club car makes a steering wheel puller, I found out....but no one whose had to use one has had any success with them, so Im not even gonna try that.

did you post your question @ buggies unlimited?

Yeah....posted there last night....thats a good forum, some solid info there. Thats where I got MOST of the removal methods from...including the hacksaw as a last resort. Theres a Cart tech guy there that known CARTFIXER......he's an ornary ol'goat......but he really seems to know his stuff....and he tells everyone how brilliant he is(I didnt say he was modest). He said he could get it off with the mallet and 2 minutes!!! He's from Cali......Im a huge guy...granted not exactly athleticly conditioned....but when I swing a mallet...THAT MALLETS BEEN SWUNG!!!! I think he may change his tune of cartking if he were to tangle with this wheel in this climate without using alternative methods. But I do like the forums there.....not thrilled with their prices on much stuff, though. And I hear their "house brand" products really suck.

ROG are you trying to get the steering wheel off? If so take off the nut sit on the cart grab the wheel like a pissed off man and pull it towards you, pulling on the left side then pulling the right and all times both hands on the wheel with extreme tension on the wheel pulling towards you It will come off.

Apparently, I have the strength of a six year old malnutritioned girl....cuz it wont budge, period.

You can also screw the nut back on the threads a little a tap it with a hammer sometimes that will loosen it.

Have you tried putting a steel pipe or 2x4 underneath and jacking that up with a small bottle jack?

No...I havent tried that..........I dont have a bottle jack...but Ill try it with the car jack...I'll let ya know how it goes soon. Thanks

Well....DaddysCoolTV got ahold of me over at BuggiesGoneWild and gave me the only info that worked.....I knew I was gonna have to Hacksaw...but I never thought about Dremeling it. I cut the plastic off with a jigsaw and bought a dremel(killer little tool, I should have gotten one years ago)the dremel sawed through the hub in about 10 mintes....steering wheel is finally OFF!!! But my new one didnt come in today....Im kinda upset about that, but, hey THE STEERING WHEELS OFF.......I feel victorious for spending 2 and a half days doing what most people claim takes them 10 minutes!!! VICTORY IS MINE!!!!!:woohoo: :yay: :cloud9:

remember,,, they probably said the new one would slide right on too !!!!!
