When we were at the Fort last week and picked up the golf cart the price had increased. It is now almost $58 with tax per day. It really makes me wonder if we will rent for more than a couple of days the next trip. It was over $700!

We're renting off site this year from Golf Cart Enterprises
http://www.golfcartenterprises.com/

$530 incl. delivery and that's actually for a full MONTH rental.

They do deliveries/pickup Mon-Fri.

We haven't used them before, so we'll see how their service is. So far they've been good to work with.

I have a reservation for a golf cart, but I am going to cancel and either bring my own again or rent from an outside company.

How did you get $530 delivered? I just checked the website you listed and the rates start at $600 mo. before delivery?

Not worth it to me! You can rent a car cheaper :confused3

We bring our bikes and they work just fine. Plus we get good exercise.

who makes these decisions? this is price gouging if there ever was. they know people are going to pay it, there will still be a demand for carts. with all the deals coming out to get people to visit wdw, i just can't believe they did this when they were already too high!

well its walking for us too, or bikes. i feel much better after pigging out at trails end if i WALK back to 300 loop, even though its 95 degrees and 100% humidity.

rent offsite or walk/bike, show disney they've crossed the line this time!

this is the very reason i shopped around and got an old used cart for 500 bucks and fixed it up...it has paid for itself (and all the upgrades) about 10 times over in the years i have owned it...

i know not everyone has that option, but geesh, 54 bucks a day is way too steep:eek:

After being at the Fort for a week at the end of October, we realized our golf cart rental cost more than our campsite. I still love to loop, so we'll probably just be a little more judicious on the rental next time and not get it for the whole week. I find we do most of our looping the first and last night, so I think that's when we'll rent next time.

Amen to that! I'm glad I'm at FW in April next year, when the weather is not as hot and humid. It should be perfect bike weather. There's no way I'd pay that much for a golf cart!

I've been looking for one of those! Did you get gas or electric? I've alway thought that electric is the way for me to go but a couple of weeks ago I was talking to someone and they were telling me to replace the batteries was about 600.00 on up! Is that correct? Do you know how long batteries last? I thought I would ask the experts! Then there is a problem with hauling it to Disney when you have a 5ver:confused3 I know we can work around that;)
Thanks,
Cindy

They raised the price back in October..when we rented on Sept. 27th it was the lower rate..when we turned it a few days later... (We left the campground earlier than anticipated), they refunded us the days we didn't use ..at the new increased rate.
I know had we been able to continue our stay in FW for the week..the golf cart rental would have cost us more than the car rental..and that was before the increase. I don't think it's something we'd keep for an entire week. At near $60.00 a day..that's kind of ridiculous. I think going with an off site company..even if it is slightly incovenient is worth it. Also...depending on the time of year, biking through FW is really the way to go.
Anyone travel with the electric scooters? I know we have one of those. I mean "Adult" sized scooter..not the ones the kids stand on. The prices of those have gone way down. I'd be tempted to pick another one up and have two..and use those instead of a cart. Easier to transport also.

I have heard of people towing the cart behind the 5'er, but I am no expert and do not claim to have any knowledge in that area at all...someone will chime in. It is illegal in some states too. Anyway, I got electric, an 85 ezgo. Yes, replacing the batteries is a cost, but if you maintain them, they will last you a good while, just like maintaining the battery on your car. I made small improvements to it each year until I got it looking the way I wanted it to. The first thing I had to do was the tires. The batteries lasted me another year afterward and I did have to replace them, but I knew it was coming and squirreled money away for it. Now that my son is getting older and I end up on the back of the cart, we are now planning on a back seat and stripping the electric system and motor out for a newer system. I have done too much work to the frame and body to give it up for a newer model. I have no desire to start all over again with a new cart. Not all people work this way, but I like to do things in small steps. I am sure someone (I think Stacktester knows) will chime in about the 5'er.

I just got off the phone with a cm from the bike barn,he told me that if security sees some one delivering a cart they do not allow this. You can bring your own ,but you can not rent from a outside company. for us it will be $402.00 for the week. This is about 80.00 more then I was quoted which they will not honor. so I will have to rethink this maybe we will only use the cart a couple of days since this is are first. I was realy looking forward looping at nite.:sad2:

I've not rented from an outside company..but I doubt they have a big advertisement on their delivery vehicle. Or at least common sense would dictate that they likely don't. Might be a pick up with a golf cart in the bed. If that were the case... I don't see how the Fort security would know whether that was a personal cart or an outside rental. Ask them what type of vehicle they use to deliver the cart.

I'm with Phyllis. They obviously have found ways around it, otherwise they wouldn't be advertising it would they?:confused3

Interesting.

There's nothing anywhere on the Disney site or any literature that I've found that says you may not rent a cart from elsewhere or bring one with you (regardless of where it comes from). I don't honestly see how they can enforce this if the carts are being dropped off in the overflow lot.

I know many people rent carts off site on a regular basis, and if Disney is changing their policy they should make it known. I suspect you were told this because they would very much prefer it if you paid them $54+ per day and not someone else. There may also have been some confusion as at one time I believe rental companies were allowed to deliver the cart right to your campsite, but rental trucks/trailers aren't allowed past the inside gate any longer.

The company we're using has been used by others over the years also. They will be calling us in the a.m. on 12/1 with a time for us to meet them in the overflow lot. No idea what their truck will look like, but I'll let you know how we make out. :rolleyes1

What a rip off! We usually can't afford the golf cart and the site etc.... so we just end up biking it around. Once and awhile we might splurge and get the cart for a few days but it is really getting to the point where something has to give and the golf cart is the first thing we cut! :( 700! Wow!
