Golf Cart Needed at Ft. Wilderness Cabins?

I have a cart reserved for our trip, but it is so expensive for something we will only use occasionally. We will be participating in many of the resort activities, but most of the day we will be away at parks, etc. Is a cart something we need to get around Ft. Wilderness or should we just rely on the internal bus system? Our children are 10, 8, 5 and 4. Should I keep the reservation or cancel?

Thanks!

When we stayed at Fort Wilderness, we regretted not having a golf cart. It would have made transportation around the resort much easier than constantly waiting for buses. So, I would say to keep your ressie for your cart and enjoy!

My family has stayed at Ft. Wilderness (cabins) the last two years. We would have liked to have a golf cart during our stay but decided it wasn't really worth the additional cost. The buses run pretty regularly and the last time we asked for a cabin closer to the Meadow Trading Post. It was a relatively short walk (or bus ride) to the campfire and other activities and we spent the money on other things (Character Meals).

We've stayed at Fort Wilderness twice. We found the bus system to work efficient enough to get us where we wanted to go when we wanted to go. The longest we waited for a bus was 15 minutes and that was after the parks had closed one evening. There are plenty of paths for walking also.

The golf carts are great to have! It was nice sneaking out late to get a quick ice cream alone and not have to worry about buses. It was also handy to run to do a night-time laundry. There will be some lap-sitting with 6 of you. Don't rat on me, but your 10-yr-old would LOVE to drive the cart (away from other people and traffic, of course). Don't save a few bucks forgoing this convenience!

a cart. Looked fun, but didn't feel like we "needed" one. Both times our cabin was at about the farthest point away from everything. We were on loops at the very front. So I like the idea of being near the meadow trading post, that would make you much closer to things!

Otherwise it's purely a personal decision. The buses do run frequently, every 15 minutes or so. From the front we were told by a bus driver that it's about a mile walk. The bus driver seemed amazed that we wanted to walk it (we were asking which direction to head, lol!) Anyway we walked it quite a few times and it wasn't a big deal. Other than the occasional little one needed a piggy back it was a nice walk! Since we came down from the cold, we were happy to be able to walk out in the nice weather.:sunny:
