(From the posts on the board ) it seems that a golf cart is truly necessary for the Wilderness Cabins.
Anyone disagree?
What is the cost for these golf carts

Thanking you in advance

I disagree. We had ten people in two cabins and a nearby campsite. One person was age five, two were in their 30s, we were in late 40s, the rest were older than 75. We didn't need a cart at all. We didn't wait longer than ten minutes for any bus and even if we had to take the internal one to another bus or the boat to Magic Kingdom, we had a good time with all that.

To us, part of the charm of the Cabins and the campground was the ability to slow down and enjoy nature and each other. That was one of our best trips ever (I've been over 50 times) just because of that fact. And spending $50/day just because we couldn't take another 30 minutes of our lives to get somewhere seemed like a waste to everyone. Especially since we were on vacation.

Thanks Disnut8, I have stayed at resorts where reportedly it is difficult to get a bus, however, I did not have a problem. I think it may be that we travel a low crowd seasons and that we get up early and are some of the first on the bus. Returning from the parks could get crowded at times. The youngest will be 3, but her dad often carries her on his shoulders the other child will be 6. So most likely we would have no difficulty at the cabins. I was considering the idea of a wagon, but hate to have to pack it in the car - it would take a bit of room.

We stayed there in 2010 with no cart and it was mostly fine. The buses are pretty frequent and its not a big deal as long as you don't mind waiting here and there.

I would consider a cart if you plan to use the main pool a lot or eat at the restaurant often. The buses will get you there, but it is time consuming. If you plan to use the main pool every afternoon, a cart would be a must for me. If you check on the camping board, they have pricing info.

I can never justify the cost of a golf cart because my trips to the Fort are solo ones. But I've never found the buses to be an inconvenience, and the wait for the internal buses is never too long. I've actually walked to the Meadow feature pool from the 2200 loop and the 2400 loop, and I made it there faster than the bus (I had just missed a bus both times, and decided I would walk rather than wait - and I got there before the next bus did).

A golf cart can be fun. It can be a convenience. But it is not necessary to have one to have a fun trip at the Fort.
