Effective June 4 (they never tell us these things until someone discovers it), the existing DVC golf discount program has changed. It is now in the control of the Arnold Palmer Management Co. just like the courses. There is no longer an annual DVC golf discount card. Instead, you just show your DVC member card for a discount. The current discount is $25 off regular resort guest price which is $89. That discount is not quite 40% and applies before and after 10. Unknown is what the discount will be come change of seasons in fall and what it will be will be at the discretion of the management company.

Thank you for the update. I was curious to see how the change in management would affect the discount.

Thanks for the update....my husband and son usually play a round or two on our trips...so it's a savings

At least DH won't have to buy the card anymore. He golfs almost every day when we go in April. Thanks for the update.

Is the discount for the member only or for the foresome?

Good question! I know that with the Golf card, you got the discounted rate for you and upto 3 others playing together. DH took his mother once and DS another couple times, and always got the discounted rate for them also.

The $25 per player discount is for member plus three in the same group.

That's great if it sticks. I wonder if the discount applies to twilight rates as well? I never felt the DVC discount card was worth it, as I prefer to play either fairly early or during twilight hours. It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

I agree, the DVC card was only good if you played a few rounds a year. I never traveled with friends who played so I never saw value in the card purchase. I hope this is better for the 1-2 rounds a play each visit. :scratchin

here is what is posted on dvcmember.com

"Members can save up to 35% off Resort Guest golf rates all season long!

Members can save up to 35% off Resort Guest golf rates for Disney Vacation Club Members age 18 years and older on Disney's four championship 18-hole courses. The discounted rates will remain in place from the first tee time each morning and continuing all day until Twilight rates begin at either 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m., depending on the time of year.

Disney Vacation Club Members may bring up to three additional players with them, and those Guests will receive the DVC Member rate or the Member rate plus $10, depending on the time of year. DVC "juniors" will also play at half the discount adult day rates, all day long (ages 17 and younger) —Twilight times are included*. "

Right now for summer, the discount is about 39%. Likely the plus $10 per guest will be during prime season, mid-Jan to mid-Apr. If this one sticks, it is a large improvement over prior plan even with the plus $10, allowing members to play before ten with a large discount and they don't have to buy the annual card, meaning you can actually now have a real discount if you only play a couple rounds per year.
