No... it's not a character breakfast. It's served in a different area, the lounge, then the regular guests. You have a slightly wider selection at breakfast. And indeed snacks & drinks the rest of the day and the lounge to use. All complimentary.
Also your room will be bigger and located closer to the main entrance.
I've enjoyed my stay last year during the run weekend, but I find it only worth it when I know I will be using the room more than average. During a regular visit when I just need a room to sleep in, I stay at Santa Fe.
During the run weekend, we took naps after the run, retired early. And while my friend was asleep, I spend some time in the lounge reading magazines and snacking.

Sometimes the lounge is closed, but you can then still request drinks and take it with you to your room.
