Gold mobility is advertising their new tray ad-on, has anyone tried it? ********************************/products/foldable-scooter-tray-premium-add-on
My ecv user is considering it but not sure, price isn't bad we were quoted like $37 or something for the 9 day rental to add it on. But, it turns one arm into a black metal box so we're a bit concerned about heat and what it's like driving around.

Your topic got my attention right away! I just checked out the pictures on the website and had a couple thoughts. While I absolutely LOVE the idea of an attached tray…
1. The black metal box probably would be a little hotter than the vinyl arm. I’d be thinking of an easy means to cover it. Or ask Gold if it can swing out of the way.
2. If it is fixed in place, it might interfere with dismounts from that side. Not a huge issue, but could be a bit irritating.
3. It might not be suitable for Pooh-sized riders, much like most airplane trays.

Gold Mobility is generally very customer-service oriented and their staff very friendly and helpful. If you pick up the ECV from their location, perhaps your rider could test it to insure its suitability before taking the tray. That said, if there are a limited number of trays available, I could understand them requiring an advance reservation and collecting the charge even if you had the tray removed before leaving the shop, but it never hurts to ask politely

Yeah, I don't think I would fit behind that tray. While good idea to hold things, I will not be adding that on.

It is an idea whose time has come! For some, it can provide some real convenience. For others of us, there may be no benefit. One size NEVER fits all, right? It’s definitely a step in the right direction, I think.

As far as the tray not being included with the overall insurance, I was surprised. Gold Mobility had included a gold standard of insurance built right into their price, which I always appreciated. For a few dollars more you’d think they could extend the coverage. Made me wonder if the trays are easily stolen or damaged. Given the extension beyond the width of the ECV, I would be very careful to only open it only when that side was tucked somewhere sheltered from people traffic.

I really hope that someone who has given this a tray will soon see the topic and jump in with a review!

What would have been nice is if the table could swivel, similar in concept to this:

I am not sure how it could be accomplished though and yes, you would definitely have to be careful about foot traffic around as well.
