Going to WDW with one parent

Hi, we are going to WDW in less then 2 weeks with a friend and her three boys. The kids father will not be with us, but he knows we are going (they are still together, just dad has to work). Do you recommend that we get a letter notorized from Dad saying that he knows we have the kids and we are returning on Dec. 9th? We are flying out of Toronto and don't want to have problems at customs. The last time we went we flew out of Buffalo and had no problem getting over the boarder (we had the letter but didn't need it). Has anyone flown with just one parent, and have you ahd a problem with not haveing the other with you? Please help. Thanks

I took my daughters to Disney World this past March while my husband stayed home with our two year old son. We had a letter but didn't need it, however, we did fly out of Buffalo.

I think it would be a good idea to have the letter just in case.

I went down last year, just my son and I, as my DH had to work also.
We got a letter, but there was no problem.
My friend went in March with her son, and her sister and niece, and they both had letters and got asked for them, and were given quite a hassle.
I believe flying out of Toronto it is necessary.

Get the letter. Its easier to have it than to be not allowed to cross the border.

I get a letter from my ex, just in case.

In Toronto you clear US Customs right in the airport. The agents usually question the children, where is your father? where do you live? etc...

Never travel without a letter. International laws have become very strict about travelling alone with children and Canada is one of the strictest(sp? it looks funny). The chances of this happening are small but they can stop you at the gate and not let you get on that plane without one. Even though my situation is much different..blended family, absent birth father; I travel with passports, birth certificates, divorce decree and custody papers whenever I cross the border..makes for a very quick transition.

It is always better to have the letter even if you don't need it. My husband stays home when my son and I go to Disney.Sometimes we are asked for the letter and sometimes not. When we are asked for the letter, I show it to them and there is no problem but if they ask for it and you don't have it, I would anticipate problems. Get the letter, just in case!

I have travelled without my husband out of the country many times and only once was I NOT asked for the letter. Get the letter. It is better to be safe than sorry!

I spent the summer in Florida with my two dd's while dh was working and I had no problem going to Florida...it was coming home that Canada customs gave me the evil eye! I would have thought I would get more questions leaving my country of residence but coming back to Canada at the end of the summer I was asked "does your husband know where u r and where his children are? why were you in Florida for so long?" They then turned to my dd16 and asked her if her dad knew where she was. If I got that many questions and there's no ex involved I would be safe and get the letter.
