Going to WDW this week with IVAN?

Ivan has now been upgraded to a cat 5 hurricane, and is expected to hit Cuba in a few hours.

Quite insane weather really...

The weather channel this morning calling for everyone from Texas to Florida to "be ready"--so they still have no real idea where Ivan will go.
And the "lead in" to that spot was vintage Weather Channel. They said " Stay tuned for the EXACT track of hurricane Ivan".
Sure enough it was the exact track--where it HAD been!! But the track most folks were interested in wasn't so exact

One of the Orlando new stations indicated that Ivan will miss Central Florida (wftv.com) This is the station that Webmaster Pete says is usually accurate.... who knows, but it does seem to be heading towards the panhandle.

I believe it was Thursday morning - there was a NASA hurricane expert on the Today show. He was predicting a panhandle hit, and that's what all the forecasters seem to be saying now.

So if you really need to get hurricane info, try and get in contact with NASA!

Lots of luck everyone. We're leaving tomorrow morning, unless they close Orlando airport for tomorrow morning's flights, and that doesn't look likely!

We're still planning on going to WDW this week. We are due to fly into MCO from Cleveland at 11:30 am Weds morning. As long as MCO remains open - we will be on the flight. This storm has kept all of the meteorologists guessing from day one - noone really knows yet where it might hit. I would hate to cancel our trip "just in case it might hit" and then it may never hit FL at all. We are very anxiously waiting to see where Ivan might head to next. We'll be arriving in FL this week - just not sure if we can still arrive on Weds due to the recent slow-down of Ivan.

Still goin'. Hopefully we will be there after he's gone. I just wish he wanted to take a vacation in Mexico. I hear it's nice there at this time of year.

We arrived yeterday at my folk's home in Ocala, just northwest of Orlando. Leaving in the AM for WDW. Latest reports looks like it will miss us altogether, but possible heavy rain on Tuesday. Other than that - it's sunny and hot forecast for the rest of this week! We're going, and we'll have a great time (but the car is gassed up and ready, just in case...!)
