I had booked the FTP and had not thought of the AP's since the unlimited magic tickets are included in the package. But I changed my reservation because I got a post card for a better deal. So I booked the room only.
Since I will be there for 5 nights/6 days this year and probably 7 nights/8 days next year, I'm leaning towards the Premium AP, this year rather than the park hopper plus then the getting the unlimited magic passes next year. Would the AP be the best way to go?

edited to add, I will probably only go to the water parks once each visit, no disney quest, maybe PI once or twice.

In my opinion, yes the AP is the better value. If you spend 8 days in the 4 theme parks in one year's time you break even. It sounds like you could potentially be in the parks for 14 days, so you'd get your money's worth. However you have to take into consideration whether you will want to do Disney Qwest, PI, and the 2 water parks. If your group will want unlimited use of these items as well, then you'd want to go with the Premium AP. In that case I'm not sure what the break even point is, but I'm sure someone here can tell you. If you're not really into all of those items, or maybe only want to go to PI, or just go to TL for one day, you'd be better of going with the AP and just purchasing those items individually. I personally just do the parks and PI so I get the AP and the Pleasure Island AP (after 3 visits you break even). Plus, if an opportunity arises for a short trip in between, you've already got park passes!

The AP is most likely the best ticket for you. I think it works out to be less expensive after 10 days. Be aware that you will want to use that AP really often! DH says I can't get them this year because they cost us WAY to much in extra trips! I'm working on next year though.;)

Hi,
If you are not going with the UMP next year, I would definitely go with the APs. I had a hard time figuring out if you were going to buy the APs this year and use the UMPs next year or using the APs this year and next. Unless you plan to use the plus part of the AP extensively, you are much better off purchasing what would be plusses al la carte.
In all honesty, I am not a big fan of the UMPs. They have great features BUT, when you leave they are done.
We have APs and will be getting our third trip out of them this Sept. Makes park admissions really cheap this way. :)

Yes, our APs have resulted in extra trips....LOL!!

It does sound like APs will be your best bet. If you don't need all the extras like Disney Quest, Pleasure Island and the water parks (Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon) then get the regular AP. Premium Annual Passes cost over $110 more each so if you're not going to get use of these extras, then it's not worth the money.

Enjoy!!

The AP will also get you discounts including some restaurants, stores and other misc. stuff. Also with our APs last year we were able to take 40% off (if I remember correctly... But it may have been 30 or 35%) off our resort. You also get a couple of other perks (Mickey Monitor, Special invites, and offers) Probably nothing worth getting an AP over, but still good to know.

One of the neatest things about having an AP is you can add a day or two to your trip for pretty cheap. We were going for 6 days earlier this year. We bought APs for that trip and our trip next year. ...Now transportation both ways cost the same if you go back 2 days later, Tickets are covered, Hotel (ASMo) was around 50 bucks a night. So for about 100 dollars We went from 6 days to 8 days.
