Hi, we are sailing on the Feb 26, 2005 western cruise and do not want to spend so much money to go to the beach using Disney's excursions. Is it possible to get to the beaches in Cozumel and Grand Caymen for little money and little hassle? We will be on on honeymoon and want to just lay on the beach and relax.

Also, what are the best beaches in Cozumel and Grand Cayman?

Thanks!!!

You can grab a cab in Cozumel and head to Mr. Sancho's beach area...it is beautiful, great food/drinks. There is no fee to enter..they just ask that you purchase your drinks/food items there..you can't bring them with you.

We went on the recommendation of a cruiser from this board...we loved it, and can also highly recommend it for chilling on your honeymoon.

It sounds great! We will have to check it out.....do you know how much a cab is and how long is the ride? We wouldn't want to miss the ship!!!

Daisy is about right...$15 to Mr. Sanchos..about 15 minute ride.

There is a line of cabs waiting for you at Mr. Sanchos when you are done..so you don't have to wait for one to arrive.

I just went to the Mr Sanchos website and there is a coupon for a free ice cream or margarita.

I am having trouble findling Mr. Pancho website.....can you please tell me how to find it?

Thanks so much!!! : )

In Grand Cayman, we went to 7-mile beach (we were dropped off by the Holiday Inn). The beach was great. The cab ride was about $20 for 7 of us. I have also heard that Rum Point Beach is worth going to and you can do it on your own...

In Cozumel, I would highly recommend Paradise Beach. It is about a $12 cab ride. The beach is beautiful, not overcrowded at all... All of the amenities are free - very comfy lounge chairs and umbrellas, floats, kayaks, water trampoline and ice berg. The restaurant and bar is very reasonable and they make excellent drinks!! You aren't hounded by people trying to sell you stuff either...

We went to Playa San Francisco on Cozumel. Taxi was about $10 or $15 each way. No fee to enter. Rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for $10. Clean beach, swimming pool, food and drink services and shopping available. There were boats to rent. Roped off swimming area. Quiet, not to crowded. That being said, we will try Mr. Sanchos or Chakanaab next time in Coz for a different experience.

Doing a beach day on your own is MUCH cheaper than doing a DCL beach excursion. THe ship doesn't leave Coz until late at night (10 or 11pm) so there isn't much chance of missing the ship unless you make a stop at Carlos and Charlies::yes:: ::yes::

Annie -

My husband and I were in the Caymans several years ago and learned of a beach located at "Cemetery Reef" (the path to the beach is located right next to a Cemetery. Their is a little stand that rents snorkeling equipment and the place is not crowded at all. The snorkeling there is great and the taxi driver dropped us off and picked us up later that same day (we were on a Carnival Cruise). If we have time, we plan on spending some time there after our Stingray excursion ( sailing May 8)

Thank's for all of the great info! Paradise Beach sounds great! It will hard to chose just one beach to visit!

Paradise Beach is right beside San Francisco Beach so you could walk over to San Francisco Beach if you want to see it ... it's basically the same as Paradise Beach but they have an open air market set up in between the two beaches and at San Francisco Beach you have to pay to rent the chairs, boats, etc...

Lisa - I heard about Cemetary Beach. We might try it out next time. It sounds great...
