I'm so excited! DH surprised me with tickets to see the Lion King tonight! It's an early valentine's day date since we are busy on Tuesday. He's not a fan of musicals and isn't expecting to like it, but knew that I really wanted to go so he got tickets!! :woohoo:  :yay:

He made us an African dinner (Peanut soup, a yummy marinated pork, flat bread, and red bush tea) and over dinner gave me the tickets! Hooray! We live about a mile from the theater, but we're leaving early to go and enjoy wandering around downtown on a Friday. I'm so excited that I'm all ready to go even though we won't leave for another 45-60 minutes. DH is rolling his eyes... His comment was "at least it won't be as bad as Disney World - this will be over in a few hours." :confused3 How did I end up marrying a Disney grump?

Who else has seen Lion King? I've never seen it, but my friend told me her DH "openly wept" when he saw it on Broadway. Hooray! I'm so excited!!!!

You are going to love it. I chaperoned a group of middle school students and most of them were whining before we went to the theatre and they did not move the entire first half. They were mezmorized throughout the entire performance. The bus was a buzz after, they were raving about it.

Have a great time. I would go see it again in a heartbeat.

I saw the Lion King on Broadway in December 2001. I totally LOVED it! I was thinking of how much my kids would love it the whole time though. I think that is a good thing. Hopefully I will be able to take them to it someday! :goodvibes
At the time I was kinda wishing I didn't get us the tickets since our time in New York was so limited, but it ended up being one of the best parts on our trip! :teeth:

I have seen it as well. I saw it in Boston in the theater district. It was wonderful. I cried at the end, it was just that phenomenal. :goodvibes I hope you enjoy it too!

Just wanted to say that I LOVED it!! I even had Lion King dreams all night! :teeth:

DH felt bad that we could only afford nosebleed seats, but the show was so wonderful I hardly noticed it. DH was even impressed with some of the scenes and said he actually liked some of it! I was surprised - he dislikes musicals, and he doesn't like Disney, so we both thought he wouldn't like any of the Lion King. But the show really won him over.
The only bummer was the group of teens behind us who kept talking through most of the show. Anytime it got at all serious or "weird" (in the words of the teen boy sitting behind me) they would start taking, making rude comments, laughing at whatever was going on, making fun of the show, etc. GRRRR.... I just kept saying "I won't let them spoil my night, I won't let them spoil my night..." and I focused on the stage instead of their voices. Mostly worked!

Hooray for the Lion King!

You're way better than I would have been. I think I would have turned around and told them to shut up!! Glad you and your DH enjoyed the show. I so wanted to go when it was here in Baltimore, but oh well, maybe next time.

I get to go see it in May when it comes to San Antonio. My brother got my DH and I tickets for Christmas this year. I can't wait to see it! :Pinkbounc
