I will be visiting OKW for the first time in Nov. with boyfriend(23), and our two friends(22+23). We are sooo excited to go. We will be there for 5 days in a studio and POR for 5 days. I was wondering if someone who has been to OKW recently could tell me about the rooms as far a space and cleanliness, and about the resort in general (food, buses, pools, decor, overall feel). Pictures would be awesome!! Also, I noticed that there are actual roads that got through OKW, is there alot of traffic on them and do they take away from the "resort" feel. I am used to POR and the laid back feeling it has, is OKW similar or is it not as comfortable and vacation-like??? :flower:

OKW is a wonderful resort (I am a little biased, as it is my DVC home resort!). It is very relaxed and laid-back and pretty quiet. My family and I find it to be a peaceful haven and we love staying there! I think you will be pleased with your choice.

For photos of the rooms and the grounds check this link – http://allearsnet.com/acc/okwss.htm

The main restaurant is called Olivia’s and they serve all three meals. Our personal favorite is lunch, which is served until 5:00 p.m. There is a pool in every section and also a larger pool near the Hospitality House with a new slide that has become quite popular. They are also hot tubs in each area. Since you’ll be using a studio, you will have no washer/dryer in your room, but they are available near the pool pavilions. The rooms are nicely decorated and a nice size, with exceptionally large bathrooms.

The bus service is pretty good and you can also take a boat to DTD (although the boats run on a more limited schedule and are “shared” with SSR.) There are roads that encircle the resort, but noise is negligible. There is a general store where you can pick up sundries and souvenirs.

Studios are equipped with microwaves, a coffee pot, plastic utensils, a small (under counter) refrigerator, and basic coffee supplies, including ceramic mugs. It makes it easy to bring back leftovers from the huge meals usually served at the Disney restaurants.

Have a great time!

studios have 2 queen beds - POR has 2 double beds - big difference.

the studios are bigger - but yes the resort will remind you alot of POR.

It was built on the CBR design - but thank goodness they did improve it a bit.

I would have preferred POR - because every room has easy access to the restuarant and food court.

but I do love OKW.

some people complaint about the bus stops - there are 5 before the bus leaves for the parks. But I appreciate them you are never far from a bus stop when you stay at OKW.

if you are in the back of the park and want to get to HH - get jump on a bus. all the buses will stop at HH before they leave OKW.

We have stayed at the Old Key West Resort on several occassions. You will love it. The studios there are the largest studios on Disney Property. Cleanliness is not an issue. Try to get in Units 12 or 13. They are convenient to the Hospitality Center. Have a great time!!

I am a POR lover, as a matter of fact, and they caused me to buy DVC when the prices went up to $100 a night ;) The rooms at OKW are bigger, and the resort is so much more luxurious, but the feel is similar. The roads are usually empty, you can walk in them!

My family just spent two weeks there. Here's my DVC report, which covers most of the things you mention above. It also has a link in it on page three with a couple of pictures of the room view.
