We are trying to figure out if it is better to go to the magic kingdom on a Sunday when the crowd calendar is a 7 out of 10 but we have magic hours 2 hours after closing...or go on Thursday when the park calendar is a 5 out of 10 and we have I extra magic hour in morning?

We are also wondering is magic hours at animal kingdom really make a difference or not when selecting what day to go there?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Each EMH experience can be different.

We always go to AM EMH (virtually every day of the trip
that we did not do a PM EMH late the night before)...
never ONCE regretted an AM EMH... they are amazingly
empty and easy to ride the open attractions.
If that park then starts to fill 2 to 3 hours later...
We're happy with "doing" that park for the day and we
can HOP elsewhere or do lunch and take a rest until
later.

PM EMH's are a mixed bag. I've been when they were
"packed"... but on other nights (sometimes within the
same trip), the crowds were basically so low that it
was like "free rides" on all the open attractions.

The rule seems to be, it is far easier for guests to
STAY UP at the end of the day, than it is for them to
GET UP at the start of the day.

Generally speaking:
Expect a PM EMH which begins before 10PM to be much busier than one that begins much later.
Expect the first hour of PM EMH to be busier than the last hour.

Are you referring to President's Day?

I was at MK for the Sunday night before President's Day last year. EMH were 10PM-12PM. Our group was at Epcot that day and everybody but me went back to the resort after Illuminations. I hopped on the monorail and was walking into MK about 9:45 right when the MSEP was wrapping up. There were a lot of people leaving after the parade and I thought "This is awesome, everyone's leaving I'm going to do a TON during EMH!"

I went to Space and got there about 10:00. I rode space and then went back to the line and saw it was an 80 minute wait. So I ran over to Thunder (splash was closed) and it was a 70 minute wait. So I rode Thunder and then the park was closed.

So the two hours of EMH got me one ride on Space and one ride on Thunder. I wouldn't expect to get much more than that done this year on the Sunday before President's day, either. Frankly, that Sunday is packed at MK.
