Dh just found out that his best friend from his Army Days is living in Fort Myers Fl again. (he has moved several times). Anyway we are thinking of knocking some days off our days in Orlando and driving down to stay with them at least one night. Do the rental cars have limits on this such as mileage use? I am hoping it can be done with out to much of a problem. It would be great to see these old friends.

Hi,

We often rent a car in Orlando and drop it off in Ft Myers with no problem. You just need to let them know when you make the booking. No extra fees, no mileage limits.

Have fun!

Bob

We will actually have to drive back to Orlando to catch our flight. I booked our flights through Ding and they cannot be changed. It is really okay though as long as this is not going to cost us an arm an a leg.

Some rental car companies will charge drop off fees if the car is returned to a different location than pickup. Also some companies may not offer unlimited mileage. It is best to compare offers and make sure your reservation states "unlimited mileage" and no drop off charges.

Make sure you check then, because we've used Alamo, Avis, and National one-way from Orlando to Fort Myers and we've never been charged a drop-off fee or a mileage fee. If the company tries to charge you just try another company.

most rental companies at MCO offer the cars with unlimited mileage, so you should be good to go

we often rack up Miles when we are in orlando if we go to tampa/fort myers and have never had a problem ( we usually rent with national )

Check your rental car terms, but we rented from Dollar for 2 weeks, spending 1 at Disney then driving to Fort Lauderdale for the second week. We then returned to Orlando for our flight home. No problems. Have a good time. :earsboy:

Most rental car companies in Florida rent their cars with unlimited miles. You do need to read your rental agreement. We rent from National and drive all over Florida visiting family, etc. Never had a problem.

You should be fine as long as your rental agreement allows for unlimited mileage. I did this very thing last year. Flew into Orlando, drove the rental car down to Ft. Myers to stay for a few days, then drove back to WDW for a week, and returned the rental at MCO before flying home. No problem. :)
