Going to DLR from UK

Hey all,

So I had planned to visit DLR a couple of years back, however circumstances meant I never got the chance to visit.

Just yesterday I got back from Disneyland Paris and really enjoyed it, I'm going again for my girlfriend's 21st Birthday in September.

Now, for my 21st I want to go to DLR. I plan to book all the packages separately as travel agents don't really do packages from the UK

Couple of questions:

- How busy will it be in early December? (is it even worth going at that time of year?)

- Nearby hotels or onsite? (are there really any benefits of staying onsite?)

- How many days to get the parks done properly? (and perhaps get on my favourite attractions a couple of times)

- Any other tips you can provide will be very much appreciated too!

-Early December is a great time to go. The parks are decorated, crowds are low until Christmas time approaches, and the weather is quite nice given the season.

-Oniste hotels are really good at keeping you in the Disney atmosphere, specially DL Hotel. However, they are quite expensive. If you're willing to spend some extra money in your accomodation, maybe you can find some good deals. If not, there are plenty great off-site hotels that are really close to DL and not as expensive.

-Disneyland needs at least two days to explore thoroughly. 1 day is enough for DCA, but I'm sure you can find many things to do if you decide to go for an extra day there. It just depends on how long you want to stay, but given the fact that you're flying from the UK, I'm guessing you plan to stay for more than just a couple of days. There are many other cool things to do in the area like Universal Studios, Hollywood and all that stuff if you are planning to stay a little longer.

-Other tips? Uh... I guess simply enjoy your trip, and above all, enjoy DL's atmosphere. There's something in the atmosphere of that park that other Disney parks simply lack, so just enjoy that and take your time to explore. Also, forget about DL Paris and your previous Disney experiences. No expectations. You won't see a fancy huge castle, but you'll see the only park in the world that was truly supervised by Walt himself, so that will add lots of value to the experience, especially if you are a nostalgic person

OP, since you're considering early December, there are a number of reasons to think about paying the extra to stay onsite. The hotels are decorated to the hilt and have tons of special holiday activities etc. Santa is in all 3 hotels, there is an ice skating rink in DTD near DLH, there are carolers and gingerbread houses and lots of other cool things. The decorations in the hotels and DTD are AMAZING.

The hotels are decorated to the hilt and have tons of special holiday activities etc. Santa is in all 3 hotels, there is an ice skating rink in DTD near DLH, there are carolers and gingerbread houses and lots of other cool things. The decorations in the hotels and DTD are AMAZING.

But anyone can go to any of the Disney owned properties at their leisure and still check out all the decorations right?

We decided to go for the Sheraton Park in the end.

It was cheaper than staying onsite, we're already staying onsite when we go to Disneyland Paris (and paid for an upgraded room in the Sequoia Lodge) in September. As Paris is a shorter break it worked out a bit cheaper to do a Disney hotel there instead of Cali.
