going to disney&uni again! Sep 2011

Molly, that was my thought. I was thinking about buying points. I just need to figure out if it is worth it. I love the look of the tub at OKW. Is that silly?

The tub is pretty awesome! Hey, maybe he'll work SO much overtime you guys can just buy DVC outright! (ignore the years of dues payments right now) That way he's not just working for one vacation, but decades worth! :)

Renting points is a great way to stay at a DVC villa. There are people on the DVC rental forum that you can go to, or there's a Dis sponsor that has a business doing it. David's rentals or something like that. Big banner, usually, on the DVC forums, and links as well.

Note: the big tub is only in the 1 or 2 bedroom units, not the studio.

I would love to buy DVC. Scotty not so much.:sad2: I think that I could live with a one bedroom suite instead of a studio if just for the tub.:goodvibes I have started taking notes so I remember everything.

I have a question. Does it smell at the Animal Lodge?

We smelled nothing gross at AKL. And there was a recent thread about that. Most people smelled nothing; a few people smelled something. But the majority were on the "nope, no smells" side.

As much as I didn't enjoy the AKL part of our time, there was something incredibly COOL about having the savannah-view balcony. We just weren't in the mode to sit still, but I kept sort of longing to have some coffee out on that balcony...sort of like the moment on my '09 birthday trip at the Grand when I got room service coffee and sat out on the balcony.

Even though it's basically "just" giraffes and such, pretty docile, it's definitely out of the ordinary! And I highly recommend seeing at least one sunrise (if you're on the correct side of the building to see it) because that was gorgeous. Mists coming up, maybe a glimpse of some animal, pinkyorange sun....beauty.

Yesterday morning, since I'd finished the DLR scrapbook with the trips we've taken, I pulled out the old wedding-planning stuff to put that in order. I want to do this b/c I'm NOT going to throw it away, it was over 2.5 years of my life (engaged Jan '01 married Aug '03), and I might as well put it all together instead of in many places.

So I got all that out.

And then I remembered we had to dye eggs. And after we got all that organized, the tablets weren't dissolving so I started squishing the tablets, and, well, my fingers are dyed.

So now I want to get back to the scrapbook stuff...but my fingers have dye on them!

Frustrating!

I didn't think it would smell, but that is Scotty over analyzing again.

Coffee or whatever on the balcony watching the sunrise sounds amazing to me.

Are your fingers at least pretty colors?:rotfl:

We think he's overanalyzing, he probably just thinks he's making sure it's perfect. :)

One is purple, the other is orange. Well, they were those colors. They wore off, except right around my nails on the purple side.

Spent the day organizing the stuff (among other things). Found a couple images on the external hard drive, am finding some film pictures I took, will get those printed/copied... I do not know what purpose this scrapbook will serve, but maybe someday I'll have a wedding planning business and I can show couples "when you pull together ideas, this is how it can come out, don't expect the EXACT thing you pulled out of a magazine", or something like that. Who knows....I might just be silly. :3dglasses

Editing to add...in some ways this scrapbook feels silly, but in other ways it feels really meaningful. My strong reactions to Insta-Eamon caused me to not do all of this in our first year or so of marriage, and I always wanted to do this scrapbook (and the cruise one). To finally be able to do it is a big deal, and might very well help me stop living so much in the past.

So...I say *silly*, but I also say *pretty awesome*!

Too many times I think that people expect perfection when they make things that they see in magazines. A big one is hairstyles, I even do it. You pick a style in a magazine and the hairstylist never gets it like the picture.

I am not sure I could plan things like weddings. Brides are so moody, that I am not sure I would want to deal with them.

Trust me, Michele, you do NOT want to deal with a moody bride. Especially a young, only child, from a fairly affluent family bride. :scared1: Her name is Elizabeth....and I do like her - but sometimes it can be difficult.

Molly, go for the scrapbook - do it! You'll never get it done and say you wish you hadn't. It may help put some things in perspective for you and could very well be cathartic!

Oh Shannon you poor thing. Hopefully she will mellow with age. I don not look forward to the days I have to deal with that. :scared1:

Ooh the future daughter in law spells her Elizabeth right. :) (Wonder what Molly's middle name is????)

Weddings are hard to plan....sigh. In my youth, the occasional daydream that involved a wedding had me in a simple velvet dress all hippie looking, with my mom and some good guy.... When my mom died, those daydreams stopped and I had to start ALL over when a wedding was plopped in my lap.

Robert's never quite been able to explain why I had to plan his dream wedding! :3dglasses

(and since I was so unenthused, no one has ever been able to explain why I was starting to plan our renewal DURING Robert's dream wedding! :rotfl:)

I had to read the line about *I'll never finish it and wish I hadn't* a few times, but finally got it through my thick skull, and that's very true!

Tomorrow are E's pictures for his recital. Gets to have his costume on for them and everything.

I'm even volunteering to help the class get to the pictures...:scared1: It's my first mom-volunteer thing! (mom-volunteer is quite literal...no men allowed with the recital volunteering)

Gotta go look over my volunteer stuff again, and decide what package of pix to order...

Oh yeah, I miss the days when I used to volunteer at the school. All of my kids former teachers have told me that even though I don't have kids in their class I am more than welcome to go volunteer in there anyway. I must have done something right.

I am sure that you will do wonderfully!!

It was fun in its own little way. The girls were very excited to see his costume; they all got their costumes (well, got to see them at least) 2 weeks ago in class, and E was shown his last week and tried it on in private. So they hadn't seen it and then he couldn't be in the room with all the girls. I got him dressed in the dance office, then he waited outside until his group was ready and they went on to makeup (oh the look on his face when they brushed blush on him and then said he needed lipstick!!!!!). I was helping the rest of the class, and they kept asking about him.

He smiled well and looked at the camera (he doesn't always do both at once, LOL), so that was good. I was glad to volunteer b/c I could be WITH him/them, unlike the other parents who weren't allowed in the rooms. Shoulda volunteered, ladies, especially since you were going to be there and hovering anyway!

And after all those buns and hairpins and tutus and tights...wowie am I glad I'll be volunteering in the BOY room for the recital!:3dglasses

Uh oh sounds like there are some little ladies having crushes on your heart breaker. Watch out!!:rotfl:

Boys are much easier to deal with in this situation for sure. All of the hair and that forget it.

I know girls often get flowers after a recital/performance...what do boys get?

All on his own I know he would love flowers, but in front of others he might feel funny about it.

Bouquet of Legos? :)

OK actually that would be hilarious. There's a bonafide Lego Master that has a shop here in town, I wonder if I could have him make such a thing, LOL. Buy the Legos from him of course, but use his mastery of the artform....

We definitely have to plan something fun for him after the second show! Grandma etc will be there, so we will have to go somewhere to celebrate.

I love the idea of a Lego bouquet. Frankly I think it is better than actual flowers. Flowers die but the Legos bouquet will last forever.

It looks like I am getting another trip to Disneyland this year! I am thrilled!
