We are in the planning stages for our trip in March and I was wondering what you think (or input from anyone who has done this) about staying at Vero and travelling to Disney a couple of times to do the parks.

Our last visit we did 5 nights at VB and 5 nights at VWL. We loved VB and we were considering 7 nights at VB and 3 nights at BCV to do a couple of Theme Park days. However I was thinking it might be easier to just stay put at VB (instead of packing up, travlleing, checking in etc.) and travel up a couple of times. This would also give us more flexibility since we could spread the theme park days out and adjust the days we go based on the weather (i.e. Warm sunny day - Vero, Cool cloudy day - Disney) We did the drive back in Feb. 2003 so if I remember correctly it takes about 1 1/2 hours.
So basically what I'm wondering is am I crazy to add on that kind of travel to an already action packed theme park day? Your thoughts, opinions, experience etc. would be appreciated.

By the way we have two boys who will be 10 and 7 when we go. (yikes when did they get that old).

Thanks,

Cygnus

Yup! Your suspicions are correct. You're crazy to add 3 + hours of travelling onto park days. But thats just the opinion of someone who commutes to and from NY city for work and avoids car trips like the plague when off. If you're up to it...go for it. But yeah...I think you're nuts!!

I agree w Par8hed - do you really want to spend so much of your time driving when you are on vacation. I also think the 1 1/2 hours is from the airport. I'd allow at least 2 - maybe more if you have traffic issues.

Best wishes -

We went from VB to Universal this past April...took 1 1/4 hours.

We have gone to WDW from Vero a few times, not a problem, I agree with what you are saying, if weather is off, you have the option of picking your days. Sure it approximately 3-4 hours a day in a car, but look at it like this, if you had to move hotels, you loose most of your day, check out by 10, get to WDW by 12, then what if your room isn't ready till 4, sure you could go do something, but if your like me, you just want to get situated, plus if your brining left over groceries from Vero, you worry about them also, sure WDW handles everything, but you basically loose the day you check in, then have 2 days of noon-stop action then go home. I would definately stay at Vero the entire time. Another option is do WDW just one day, and check out the Space Center or something while your there.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I'm leaning towards giving it a try and if it doesn't work out then we will know for next time! Now any advice on the best route to take?
