Going off a point Kevin made a few weeks ago: What restaurants would you not eat at...

The reverse to the OP's question might be - which restaurant will you NOT eat at WDW because you have restaurants with similar ambiance, experience or menus where you live?

When vacationing, I want unique experiences. So I avoid Le Cellier, Ohana, Morimoto's, Fulton's, California Grill, Nine Dragons, Teppan Edo, and Crystal Palace.

That is another interesting way to look at things and definitely comes into our mind when picking places - which is why we have never eaten at an Italian restaurant at WDW since we have very good Italian in the NYC metro area. We also have a number of good hibachi places so haven't done Teppan Edo.

Curious that you say you wouldn't do 'Ohana or Crystal Palace ... would think the setting (and coconut races, etc.) for the first and the characters for the 2nd would make it pretty unique :confused3

1. I live on Oahu.

2. The focus for dining for me is primarily on the food, as well sharing the experience with those I'm dining with.

I don't do character meet and greets - it's not why I'm at the parks. I don't mind running into them in the park and snapping a pic, but I don't make it part of my schedule.

I've only done one character meal - the Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot for lunch - but it was someone else's reservation. The food was pretty good, but the characters were a distraction, even an obstacle, since part of the meal is served buffet.

One last reason - some character meals are buffets, and I tend to find most buffets disappointing, especially for breakfast.

Well, the I guess 'Ohana for you would be like any of the Italian restaurants there for me, so makes sense

To your second point, that's fair .. though, then I would think you are avoiding CP because you don't enjoy the experience provided, not that it isn't a unique experience (though, may be semantics)

My thoughts exactly, Max! I try to/want to do stuff @ WDW I can't do @ home, especially with the ease of transportation @ WDW, and me not driving @ home!

with the fave, not fave restaurant threads.......and thats really all this is.....i always throw out the cattle calls that are labeled buffet's and made easier to stomach, if you will, by adding a meet and greet where the line comes to you rather than you waiting in it.

To answer the original question... if price and food quality is the same, Tangierine Cafe, Ohana, all the Dole Whip locations (cuz rare), and Skipper Canteen make the list. Maybe Primetime. These also happen to be some of my favorite restaurants at WDW, but when we allow for location and ambience, the list definitely grows.
