We are going on our first Disney Vacation with our 2 toddlers..I have not been in 14yrs. We our going mid September and would like to know what is it like at that time of year? Weather,crowds..etc. Thanks for you input. All I know is that it is hurricane season.

We are going the first week of sept. from what i've bene reading and told the courds are great, not bad at all. the weater is still very hot and humid like i'm thinking 90's most days. as for hurrican season that is like may-late october... so about 1/2 the year.

Our first trip to Disney in 2000 was the first week of Sept. We flew in on Labor Day. The crowds were great! There were people around, but no long lines or problems with crowds for parades and fireworks. I think Test Track at the time was a 60 min wait, but we fast passed. It was great! The only thing is the heat. It's 90, hot and humid, but almost everything there is air conditioned so you get out of it soon enough. We would go back to the room late afternoon, go in the pool, relax, shower up and go back in the evening for dinner and fireworks. Everyday at about 3 in the afternoon, it rained for about 20 min to 1/2 hr and then stopped. It was still humid though! :rotfl: I'm looking forward to our trip this time around. We're going the 24th - 28th.
I would definitely go in Sept again after seeing the crowds last time Nov 1-8. I couldn't believe MK & MGM by the end of the week!

We love September! It is our favorite time of year after May. The crowds are low, the weather is nice (not too hot, but still hot enough to swim, etc.). In 1999 we did get hit by a hurricane, but that still hasn't kept us from going in September! We will be there later in September this year and cannot wait! I

We traveled the 3rd week of September in 02 and 04. Hopefully our next trip will be in September of 06! The crowds were very low in 02; a little heavier in 04 (that may have been because of the hurricanes and changes in vacation dates!). It was hot and humid as has already been mentioned. I'd definitely check the refurbishment schedule as some of the rides may be temporarily shut down. In 02 Haunted Mansion was closed. The parks also close earlier than they do in the prime months. However with the light crowds we never had trouble seeing everything we wanted to see! We only had to fast pass on a couple of things, but September is my favorite time to go. Have fun! :earsgirl:

We will be taking our two toddlers in September aswell.During that time of year you do normally get a bit of rain. Its always a short downpour. The crowds are nice.My main concearn is the heat/humidity.I plan on bringing some of those mister/fans and making sure my little guys stay hydrated.I think September is a great time to go.

Count me in for September with toddlers. We're at POP the 14-19. DS will be about 3.5 and DD will be almost 2 when we go. I've been pouring through the Resort threads finding attractions for the young crowd. I almost eliminated EPCOT from our plans but luckily I have learned that there is a lot of stuff for the little ones - I think it's the park I'm MOST excited about. Of course, the Living Seas will be closed until Nov - so I'm pretty bummed about that. BUT- it's just another excuse to visit WDW again soon. Although I doubt I'll be able to convince DH of that. :) I'm hoping the heat won't be too severe - but there are 'sprinkler' attractions at almost every park and I won't hesitate to bring them there a couple times if necessary.

I still haven't decided if I need to put naps on the schedule every day or if the stroller nap will work on a couple days...

We went in Spetember last year. The weather is quite hot and humid, although not as bad as I understand it can be in July/August.

Last year, the parks were practically empty due to the high number of hurricanes so I don't know if this year will be the same (although I am hoping so).

We plan to go in September next year as well (depending on our experience of Sep this year) and take the kids.

We love September! Last year was our first year visiting in September, and we missed the hurricanes luckily! We loved it so much we will be there again in 42 days!! We took both our DD's who were 5 and 1 at the time and had a blast. I do put them in sundresses so that they can change quickly into bathingsuits to play in the water areas and cool off. The weather was still hot and humid, and there were the typical afternoon showers that might have lasted an hour but like dfamily said we were able to see everything we wanted to see with light crowds so it's a great time to go as long as nothing changes :goodvibes

Have a Great Trip!

We were there last Sept. between Hurricanes Frances and Ivan. It was great! We had less rain then we've had before. (The most rain we've experienced was in June.) We've been in April, June (2 x), Sept.(2 x) and Dec. We're going back this Sept. The crowd level was great. I do think because of the free Dining that the parks (and restaurants) will be more crowded but still less crowded (and hot/rainy) than the summer.

52 days and counting! :jumping1:

Magical :wizard:

I love September! We go as often as we can the first week of September. We have done May, February, Sept, Oct and Dec and for the full week trip, September is our favorite! The low crowds are incredible and we always have such a great time!

:jumping1: 39 Days to Go :jumping1:

Everyone's input has been great! We are looking forward to going but also unsure of what to expect because we are bringing a 5yr old and a mildly autistic 4yr old. But with some good planning I think we will be ok.

I have heard that there are special passes you can get for family members that have certain disorders like autsim.Someone mentioned them to us because our son has Down Syndrome.I am not exactly sure what they are for.I think it is to help with lines and ride access.I don't plan on getting one but you may want to look into it.

What exactly do you mean by free dining in Sept.?Is there some deal going on that I have missed.I sure hope it dosen't affect the crowds.Im already bummed that the crowd level keeps going up,up,up on the Unnoficial Guide website.

Also...when exactly are all of you going to be going and what are your toddler's ages?We will be staying at Shades of Green from Sept.18th to 23rd.Our son Jack is 3 and Nigel is 19 months.

Do be aware that with the free dining promotion you may need to make reservations in order to have sit down dining anyway. Usually in September the crowds are low enough that this isn't a problem - but this September should be busy for dining. With kids, I have to have a sit down meal at least every other day, or I start to lose it.

We are staying at the holiday inn Sept 20-25 with 2 toddlers almost 4 and 5.
My oldest is so excited because she barely makes the height requirement for some of the rides.

WE GO EVERY OTHER SEPTEMBER. WE HAVE BEEN IN MAY. BOTH ARE GREAT TIMES OF THE YEAR. LAST TIME WE WENT OUR YOUNGEST WAS 2 AND IT WORKED OUT WELL STAYING ONSITE WE I COULD TAKE HER BACK TO THE ROOM AND DH WOULD STAY WITH THE OTHER 2. GO AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN. I WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE PS RESERVATIONS. :cool1:

I have a few ?'s and didn't want to start a new thread about sept and stuff... so i though i would add on! :)
what are the thoughs on Labor day? we come in on the saturday before labor day and were thinking ...

Epcot on Wed
AK on thursday

Any thoughs??? Also with the later closing hours i wondering how the kids will be int he parks all day with out breaking at the hotel? Thanks! :)

We have gone before during Sept / late Aug and loved the crowds. One thing we did find though is that it gets REALLY hot and humid !! We will be there this year in Sept again staying at Pop. We leave Sept 15 - I can't wait !!

I've been wondering what to do about this. Last time we didn't let them get wet (Dec). But this time I want to.

So do you bring towels & plastic bags with you for the wet clothes?

I've done the sundress thing too - I found the easiest thing way to get two or three of the two piece suits and let DD wear the bottoms as underwear. Then just toss on the top and she's ready to go - flipflops or water shoes are a good idea too (the ground is HOT). Then just switch to a dry pair of bottoms. Tie the wet stuff to the ouside of the backpack and usually it was dry (or mostly) by the next water play site.
