I hate to mess up your theory, but it doesn't work in my case. I removed my WDW vacation history at the bottom of my posts just because it bothered me that this question always comes up on pool hopping threads...but...
I've stayed at the Yacht Club and Wilderness Lodge, among others, and at some of the very busiest times at WDW. As you say, they are a couple of the more popular resort pools. Of course I'm always mystified as to how others are able to identify unauthorized swimmers. Btw, I'm not "for" pool hopping. I don't think anyone should pool hop unless they have permission to do so but I don't care if WDW let's them nor do I think it's any of my business.
And I'm used to your posting "style" and have my personal opinion about it just as you do about mine.
I don't see how you are mystified about anyone knowing who is from where. The ones I've run across always seem to be the big mouth groups that cannot shut up about their good fortune in coming to the pools they don't belong at. I've had one mom sit next to me at the Poly and rattle on and on about how she is staying at the WL but just loves the Poly pool so much that she and her kid comes over every day on her 10 day trip. Then she proceeded to call her mother up at Ft. Wilderness on her cellphone and in a loud voice invite the whole gang over! Fortunately her kid was very obnoxious to the point of a CM coming over to her and then he finally asked for her resort ID. When she couldn't produce it she was asked to leave. Just this May at the Poly there was a group of at least 10 throwing towels on about 10 lounge chairs to save them. They were telling a man next to me that they got hot while at MK and came over to cool off in the nice pool. The man asked where they were staying and they said International Drive! How nice! I've encountered two more groups during my stays at the Poly and all of them made it known to me that they were hopping. I either overheard them telling someone next to me or they told me themselves. From my experience, and it isn't much, the pool hoppers I've known about are all obnoxious and are quite proud of doing something they know they shouldn't. That was the take I've gotten from them. Now if someone asks and is given permission I have no qualms about that. Disney owns the pools and can give whomever they want permission to use them. I am against the ones that just feel that they can crash any pool they please without asking anyone if they can. Also I've never ran into a hopper coming from a value resort and have never been on that side of the argument.
