DH dropped the info on my that he has given in to my DS and I begging and is taking us to WDW!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: He did say we would not be able to go until next year though. (remodeling our house this year!). So, he said that he thought that going after school gets back in would be good since our DS will be about 3 1/2 then - he was thinking less crowds. So I have been trying to figure out, should I plan the trip in Ocotber and let DS see the Halloween stuff, or wait until November to see the Christmas lights? Does any one know when they go up? Or when the Holiday Paraides start? Do they do a Halloween Parade? Or is the only thing they do is the MNSSHP? I know that 2007 is far away but I think it will be here before I know it.
Thanks!!!!!! :woohoo:

MNSSHP is the Halloween party and there is a Halloween parade during the party (2x each evening that the party is being held). We've never been for Christmas time. We had fun during MNSSHP, though if your son will only be 3 1/2 there may be some MILDLY scary costumes etc. I have heard that the Christmas decorations etc are really beautiful!
When we went in Oct (8-15) it was REALLY hot still, almost 90 every day, except, of course, the day we ended up at the water park! I think the temps were only about 5degrees above average during the time we were there, so it was not really unseasonably hot. (we were hoping for a bit unseasonably cool, oh well!)

My preference would be October. We went in October of 2004 and enjoyed the lack of crowds. We got to see the MNSSHP and had pool time. We went in November of 2003 and thought it was packed !

Would defintely do October again.

PS the crowds in September are almost not-existent (if that's an option).

October!!!!!!
We LOVED the Halloween Party!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!

Mcbruns - thanks for the input. See that is my thing - the crowds. I really would like to go with the crowds not being to big but.......I also want to do when something is going on. (Like MNSSHP or to see lights after Thanksgiving).
Plus I have been reading alot of posts on here about people going in October. (Which I heard was not a busy time of the year.) I am starting to get the impression though that it is.
Plus is september hot compared to october or november? My son is a pale skinned red head who burns in a heart beat. I know I will be putting plenty of sunscreen on him no matter when we go but he is not used to playing out side in the heat that much. Here at home we play outside in the early mornings and mid evenings durning the summer. I think I am just getting to excited to far away for the actual trip.
Thanks for the great advice and I will take as much as I can get.
I will let hubby know what everyone is suggesting.!

Took a Disney planning class at the community college. WDW attendance is lower in October. Mid October is still warm enough for swimming and all. Plus the Halloween party, though we will never do it again. All that expense for 11 of us and the park was so crowded you couldn't walk when they SAY they only sell a limited number of tickets to it. HA

We went from the 18th to 26th of October. Crowds and weather were very manageable. Learned in trip planning class that WDW attendance records show MGM least busy on MOndays, Animal Kingdom least busy on Tuesdays, Magic kingdom least busy on Wednesdays, and Saturdays are typically Epcot's slowest day. Hope it helps someone.

Just thought I'd let you know that the week of Thanksgiving is when the Xmas decorations go up. I'd avoid that week though as it can be very busy. Haven't been in october so no clue, but often go the week before or after Tday and the week after has the decorations and the crowds are gone!

They had a class? That is cool, but spend some more time here (on the DIS) and you can get a WDW PhD!

Go in Oct, thats when we may go with our 3 and 1/2 year old! If you want to see the Christmas lights, which are great, go the first week of December. We saw the Osborne family lights in MGM the last day they were up in Janurary, OMG! They we spectacular! I'm glad we didn't miss them. The reason we want to go in Oct is so it will be a little warmer.

OK I am SOOOOOOOOOO wanting to know who put on this class that you are talking about. Was is sponsored by your local college that it was located at? I so totally wish they could do something like that down here. I honestly - might sound silly - wish I could become a WDW travel agent. I would love to learn more about WDW and help others get excited about their trips!

Way cool for you and the others who have mentioned it to be able to go take a class on it! Good for you! I am (I know I should not say it) so jealous of you all! :cool1:
