What's the best way to handle a situation when you will have to change all reservations from 3 adults to 2 within a few weeks of a trip? My thought is that it is not an issue with the DVC room ressie, but do I need to cancel all dining reservations for 3, and change them to 2? I want to be fair to other diners, but I'm sure in some cases there will not be availability at this point for a table for 2 if I cancel the table for 3. What is your experience with this? Thanks.

I would not adjust the dining reservations. I would probably adjust the room reservation though - that's quite simple to accomplish with a quick call.

Agreed! This is how I've always heard that it works.... With a party of 3, you would be seated at a 4 person table, which there are a ton of. So, all of your reservations take that into account. If you try to switch to 2 people, it will only show tables that seat 2. Normally there aren't as many of those tables & you're more likely to find that they're all booked up. You're probably better off sweet talking them when you check in. As long as 2 of you show up, it is highly unlikely they would charge you a no show fee for the 3rd person.

If you're really worried about it, you could check for 2 person availability online & only convert the ones where you find an open reservation. Best of luck for whichever way you choose to go.

You won't be charged anything if only 2 people show up for an ADR that was originally for 3. No need to change the ADRs.

We were there in August and had a ressie for 4 at Cape May. That entire day our dd11 did not feel well at all. Since it was already the day of the ressie I didn't want to cancel and be charged so we just waited it out. She tried to take one for the team and go but as we were getting in the car at the resort she thought she was going to be sick. I sent my dh and ds17 anyway since they really like that meal. When they checked in they just let the hostess know that the other two wouldn't be coming. They ended up be seating at a 2 top and we weren't charged no fee for the two of us.
