OH - do I have to take my toe ring off? It hastn't been removed since June of 1999...my toe has deformed around it, it's literally part of me.

About the toe ring..I'd be scared about that growing into my foot more then foot fungus ....

it's not growing INTO my foot...but I've had it on for so long, my toe has taken on the shape..meaning, i have a perma-indentation in my toe where that ring is.

I'm not THAT nasty!

but that is why rule #9 of wearing sandals in the summer is to remove your toe ring...i never ever do. heheh

oh - is it true that I shouldn't shave my legs before one...just in case?

Thanks for the clarification...

I diffently would shave my legs....I always get embarrased if someone has to deal with my feet or legs and I have forgotten to shave....Have fun...

see - the reason I ask, is that I hear shaving your legs right before a pedicure (especially one in those whir-pool type foot baths - which is where i'm going) make it EASIER for an infection to start...because your legs just had a layer of skin/hair ripped off.

Nah, I don't think that would make you more prone to infection. They are going to take lotion and rub that into your calves, and that won't be too good with hairy legs. Trust me, when they are all done, you'll be happy you did - they make your legs and feet as soft as butter.

Aaaaah, wish I could have one now. DH is working. I wonder if I can bribe my kids to sit there long enough while Mommy gets a pedicure?

The reason you might not want to shave your legs is if you are having a spa pedicure and they are using any type of srub or exfoliant it could be iritating on frehly shaved skin. Make sure they are using clean tools, and don't let them use any cutting tools on your cuticles. Pick a nice color I'm going for a pedicure this afternoon, and I think I'll get a nice bright coral ( OPI makes great colors!)

Our 11 yo daughter has already had two doctors appointments due to fighting an infection she got from her first pedicure. She has been sitting out her dance classes since late March.

you know - screw it...I'm just gonna not shave...after they see my toes, the hairy legs will be NOTHING! hehehe

I'm going for a deep marroon/red...think it'll go nicely with the dress i'm wearing tonight.

might do the same on my nails too...not quite long enough for a french manicure.

I trimmed my own nails before my pedicure and just had them do the polish. I was afraid of the infection potential too.

you're right, ladies - I'm addicted! My toes look SOOOOO much better then they would if I had done them myself and my feet are soooo soft.

The girl was really nice and totally understood it was my 'first time'. heheh

now i'm ready to dance my toes off at the wedding tonight...or sit there and laugh at everyone else. hehehe

LOL I can't believe I actually have something to add to this comment, but....

I was at my nail place a couple of months ago and these two girls were about to get pedicures. They were wearing pantyhose and skirts and they decided it was a smashing idea to just remove their pantyhose right in the middle of everything! AND there was a guy sitting right there with a look of shock on his face.

The women were shocked too! My jaw dropped at the weirdness of all this, I mean WHO thinks to do this?!

Oh, did I mention the unoccupied bathroom was like 5 feet from them? BTW, they did the same thing when they put their pantyhose back on!!

LOL Those two that removed their pantyhouse must have thought that it was going to be one of those "skinny dipping pedicures!"

I too had my very first pedicure a few days ago, and I loved it! However, I had not even thought about the potential for infection. My toes are now a shade called "I'm not really a waitress red!"

I just got my first EVER pedicure the other day! Couple days ago!!! I also can't believe I didn't do this sooner. LOL I've just usually never worn sandals or thongs/etc. until this year for some reason- and I also never painted my toenails.. I thought my feet/toes were ugly! So I guess that's why I never did before.

But I've been wearing sandals this year so I decided to do it... and I'm glad I did! she didn't have to scrub or anything- I don't have any callous buildup/etc. but it still felt good to be pampered and she did it french manicure to match my fingernails. I like that- because then it matches anything I wear! LOL I never let my toenails grow out- so I didn't really have any nail at all to do the french manicure- she did it anyway. LOL She just painted back a little white on the end. LOL
