right as most of you know we got the DLRP on the 23rd dec, back on the 28th dec.

i have never been way before at christmas, and need toget organised now, as it is only 100 shopping days left till christmas.:scared1:

my question is to all those going over the actual christmas days ( eg, christmas day , boxing day)

do you take a few pressie with you, give the kids extra to spend there, do the traditional christmas day bit all over agian when you get home, buy in all the christmas food we all good mad on..... what??:confused3

i have got a headache just thinking about it

thanks in advanced jo

Weve never done DLP at Christmas (YET!!!!) but have done WDW twice when our DSs were young. We had a mini Christmas dinner before we went (probably the day before) and opened presents from relatives.

The boys knew that the main present from Santa was a holiday so we didnt need much for them however we took stockings and small gifts and they opened those as normal on Christmas Day after Santa had delivered them.

As relatives knew we were going away some didnt bother buying the boys presents but gave us money to buy them something whilst we were there. I supopose it depends how old your children are. Ours were about 8,6 and 3 at the time.

Your thread says you are returning on 38th Dec. Do I assume you mean 30th or 28th? In which case you are home for New Yr so I suppose you could have Christmas meal and lots of goodies on New Yrs Day instead.

We opened some presents from relatives before we went. Took a few small presents with us to open on Christmas Day and bought a few things in DLP but our main present to ourselves was the holiday. We also had a Christmas Dinner on our return home at New Year. It is such an extra magical time to go to DLP that you should have a blast. If you have small children then I think I would take small stockings for them to open from Santa. :santa:

We took a small Christmas tree and some chocolate tree decorations and Father Christmas delivered a few small presents underneath it. :thumbsup2 .

When we got home he'd also delivered some there too.

We had our turkey dinner on New Years Day too!

We are also going for christmas. driving over on the 24th and returning on the 28th.
What we have done in the past is tell the kids that they can have a present for every disney sign they see on the drive down. from memory there are only 5 or 6. DW then walks round the shops with our 2 DD's and when she passes a toy they want she nods me the wink and i put it in a basket. when we are done i pay for the goods and then have them sent to the Hotel.
after the kids have gone to bed i go down to the hotel shop and collect the presents, which we then put in their stockings/sacks ready for the morning.

last year my eldest DD, 7 at the time, said that she new that Santa didn't make the present but that we as parents bought them and gave them to santa to deliver. but atleast she still believes in Santa.:)

for our christmas dinner we are going to the tinkerbell show in the Newport Bay. although this year i think is called the Mickey Winterland show or something like that, but any way it is a 5 course meal with wine and champagne included as well as the 2 hour show. it is not cheap, about £80 per head but i still recon it is cheaper than booking a christmas meal in the UK and a lot more fun.

The dinner is very popular so i would suggest booking, there are atleast 2 sittings, one at 1pm and another at 8pm. the cost is £79 per adoult and £29 per child. ( this is the cost for the evening sitting, it may be cheaper for the lunch but i'm not sure?)
from memory the menu year before last was prawns for starters, traditional Xmas dinner and then deserts, cheese and mince pies and coffee. i think there was 4 bottles of wine on the table but we gave some to the next table as they had more adults on thiers and had run out. they also came round filling up your champagne whenever you wanted. I'm sure they also had a vegaterian option but as we didn't order one i couldn't tell you what it was.

hope this helps

thanks fore that think i might ring up and book that tonight, are the bottles of wine pre opened !! we are not drinkers, but could bring them home for my mum;)
