Going every year "too much?"

You may get skewed answers here...:rotfl:

We find that we are totally relaxed at WDW...all the things that stress us out are left behind. No hurries and no worries!:wizard: Since we've gone so much we are in "cruise" mode while we are there meaning we don't wait in long lines as we know there will be a better time and for the most part we are winging it as far as plans go (of course now with the dining plans we do have to pre-plan dining reservations a bit :confused3). So for us the op question almost makes no sense (I mean this in a positive way) considering the following question; If someplace makes you feel this relaxed and good about yourself, how can you go there too much??? :smickey:::MinnieMo

I don't think you can go to Disney too much. We are fortunate in that we live just under three hours away from Disney, by car. We go at least three times a year. We never get bored. We always go for the Halloween season. We also like going for the winter holidays, when all the decorations are up. Then there's Star Wars Weekends and the Flower and Garden Festival, not to mention the Food and Wine. Also, we love the water parks and the various activities throughout the resort (Fort Wilderness, mini golfing, Disney Quest; etc.).So, with all the different events that are put on throughout the year and the activities offered, it is very hard to get bored. Sure, my son is not as excited as the first time we went. He is able to sleep the night before we leave. He's not as crazy with excitement as he was the first few times we went. He still loves it though. Both of us still look forward to every trip that we take. We never feel bored. If we feel like we have gone on some attraction or ride too much lately, we just skip it for a few trips.

Maybe I should have phrased my question differently. First off, believe me, I love WDW and I personally would go every year or even more than once a year. I'm thinking of the kids, would it be "more" magical to skip a year? Has anyone had this experience, that you took a year off and when you came back it was more like the first time? Don't think that I'm asking you to confirm my thesis, I don't even know the answer I want to hear, so I appreciate all responses. Thx.

I'm sure that if you went less, it would seem more magical, or special when you returned. When you go frequently, it still is amazing, but maybe not as magical as the first time (hope that makes sense). When I was a child, I only went to Disney twice, and the two trips were spaced five years apart. Both trips were incredible and magical. Now, had we been going every year, I'm sure I would of still loved it, but I don't think I would be in awe of it as much, after the first few trips.

Since 1991 at the first part of Decemeber and going this year Dec. 5th -12th.We go becuase we feel like kids again each and WDW is magical to us.We can't seem to get that magical feeling anywhere else.:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :) Danny

This will be my first trip to wdw so my vote really doesn't count at all! But we planned on a 12 day trip there because we don't plan on going back for many years. My philosophy is that there are so many amazing places to see that I want to travel around and see those. Then when my list is pretty much checked off I would probably go back to disney (or if i ever had children I would take them)

Please post after your trip, bet you get bitten by the Disney magic bug and have to go again soon. I used to be like you, went once, got addicted, and now after 25 trips and counting, I can't wait till the next trip. I am always planning a next trip to WDW, sometimes even have ADRs for the next one before we go on this one!!

NOPE!!!!! We go 3 times a year and its never too much!!!!!!!!!!!! We are always counting down the days until our next trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes1

I don't thinks repeat visits can ever be as "Magical" as the first time you and your family stand on Main street and see the castle for all it's glory!. That being said Myself, DH and DS9 and DD6 have been the last two septembers and have a bounceback booked for Aug 2010. Our second trip was for 11 days, we did all the stuff we missed the first trip, had more down time swimming and relaxing. I actually read an entire book !. When I asked the kids if the wanted to go again next year they yelled ..YES!!!! I gave them other options and it was Disney all the way.
We are not all-inclusive lay on the beach all day kind of people. Disney right now fills all of our needs as a family. Rides for the kids, waterparks for dad and the restaurants for me. I have priced many different holidays and nothing beats Disney when you get a promo like free dining or free days. It isn't as magical as the first time but every trip we discover new things and have new memories , that are truly magical.

DH and I went for the first time together in 2008. Then we went this year (09) for our honeymoon and we are going next year (2010) for our 1st anniversary.

While I agree there are so many other places I'd love to go for some reason we always end up choosing WDW. I know we'll always find new stuff to see and do. Its just a special place. :)

We plan on going every year especially once we have kids :)

We plan to go every year, usually in March, this year we were lucky enough to go twice (march and Sept) We thought about this, that maybe it would be a little more magical if we waited and went every other year, but once we get close to time to go or get there, you realise it is just as magical as the last! We always try some new things, try to find some hidden little events you never knew about or go durring different times of the year, but we NEVER get tired of some of the same old things too. Also, IMO it doesnt matter how old or young the kids are, we will spend 1 day at MK, the other parks are a do not miss too. They have always had a blast at all 4 parks. GL with what you decide.

For me, there is never an end to the number of 'new' things you find at WDW. Even if that something new is simply a new path to get to one of your favorite old destinations, or a new character interaction that you have never had before.

I don't think going once a year will ever diminish the magic, because whether meeting Mickey for your first, or twenty-first time, it is always going to be different and magical. :wizard:

We're usually "every other year" kind of people. We love Disney, but there are so many other tings we like to do, too. But this year, I'm headed to DW for the third time in year next month. We did the 4/3 deal over spring break, the birthday deal combined with the military deal for our summer vacation, and DD and I doing a mother/daughter trip with military discount over Thanskgiving. She's a high school senior, we'd thought of going to NY, but decided why not go somewhere warm instead, why not Disney!? AND, we have spring break 2010 planned, because of coupons. Least expensive way for us to go on so many vacations with our kids, we all have a lot of fun, and as I watch my daughter get ready to start college next year, I'm painfully aware that I won't have them living at home with me forever. DH and I, God willing, will have plenty of time to explore other vacation options once they've moved away.

we go every weekend... obviously not to stay over but we do stay a few days at least 3-4 times per year.....we call it our "happy place" :goodvibes

We are every other year people. We love WDW, but we found that the two years we went in a row, it just wasn't quite as surprising and fun and it was before. I think with a little time in between, it makes it more exciting when you return. (Not that it's easy but it's worth it!)

Plus, there are just so many other places to see in this amazing world of ours. Maybe if we had more vacation time, but right now, we don't!

We've been once a year starting in 2006. We originally went back in 1997 as a couple (no kids). Then went again 3 years later in 2000...honestly we did not enjoy it as much as the first time for some reason.

However, since we had DD we have been every year starting in 2006, with this being the 4th year in a row. (We actually are having 16 months between trips, which is WAYYYY too long.) I do believe everyone has a threshold where there is too much Disney - for most here that threshold is more than a year. For me, I prefer limiting trips to about once a year, as it feeds the addiction, while still making us really look forward to them.

Anyways, not too sound like a shill for WDW, but:
(1) with kids, once a year does in no way diminish the magic. Kids change too quickly, and every year it will be a different experience. Our DD is now 6, and she is in the years now that Disney works best, from 6-10 years old. And, yes, they might want to do some of the same things as last time, but watching how much they enjoy it would alleviate some of the repetitiveness.

(2) People say that it is all the same - but that is up to you. There is SOOOO much to do at WDW. One of my goals is always to "experience something new each day". By going more often, yes you might get sick of certain things (I've had enough of Dream Along with Mickey show, thank you very much) but by not needing to do those same things each time, you can try new things, or if you miss something, you know you'll be back again. (Example: Last trip we had to miss Spectromagic, which we all love, but knew that we would get to see it again THIS year, so it made it more tolerable.) For instance, GO during a holiday celebration (Halloween or Christmas pops to mind), or spend a few days in the water parks instead. Spend a day a Fort Wilderness and go for a horse ride. Take a tour. The options are literally endless.

Anyways, only you and your family can really tell what is "too much". I will say this, it is likely that if you go, and it IS "too much" you will know it. We haven't found it yet, and as we are buying AP passes for our December and October 2010, we are considering a third trip within the 12 month window, which would put us up with the REAL addicts...I'll let you know if it is TOO MUCH!

We, love Disney and we are fortunate enough to have Parents who purchased the DVC membership, and always invite us along... We look forward to going every single year.. we LOVE the Beach Club resort and the pools.. we Love the walk to Epcot, and we love relaxing without having the stress of driving anywhere.. It is like coming home for us.. it is always magical. Our kids have been7 times now and they are 9 and 7 ... they love and appreciate the ability to go to Disney... for them there is no other place they would rather go, and the fact that they get to spend all that quality time with there wonderful grandparents makes it even more special... each and every time. It will be childhood memories that my kids will have for their entire lives.

We're DVC members and go 4 to 5 times a year. My goal is 6 times a year which would mean I could have a break from work every other month!!! My DH and I go more (by ourselves) now than when the kids were little. We used to take them 1 or 2 times a year. Even though we go alot, we always discover something new. And it allows us to relax and take our time - if we don't see it this visit, there's always the next. There's never too much Disney or too much vacation time. Life is way too short to work all the time.
