As if work isn't stressful enough, DBF mother is wanting us to jump on an airfare for our Christmas trip: w/Delta $330rt. I don't blame her for being nervous, but that number just seems so steep! The subborn (and extremely budget conscious) side of me wants to wait to see if sales pop up. But then again, knowing that I am on such a tight travel budget, maybe we should just take this flight in the chance that they just go up?

What should I do?!!? I'm so confused... :guilty: :guilty:

Flights are high again. i just purchased mine yesterday for next February. I paid $40 more per ticket then I wanted to, going into Jacksonville, and I'm doing a connecting flight which I swore we would never do again but I did get the dates i wanted and we are now set. With the price of fuel going crazy i think we'll all have to spend more.

BTW, I paid $229 per ticket, hartford to Jacksonville through St Louis, American Airlines. I usually pay about $185 per ticket, non-stop out of NYC. We'll save the cost of the limo to NYC and parking is much cheaper in hartford. i prefer going into Orlando but would take Tampe and Jacksonville. We actually have some relatives in Jacksonville we'll say hello to.

Good luck.

I'm flying from Cleveland. I don't believe Song and I know JetBlue doesn't service our area. Last time I checked SW, due to our dates (Dec. 23-Jan2) the rates were worse than other airlines!

But thanks, I'll keep checking!

I'm in the same boat as OP. I want to purchase the fares because I'm afraid but my husband wants to wait it out. I told him that it will be his responsibility because I don't want the fares to go up and then hear the whole trip how I should have went for the lower fares...ha!

BTW...where are you guys getting these rates from? Everytime I check the rates are averaging 300-400 r/t. Maybe it's the airports around here, the airlines don't offer as great as deals as some of the others.

i use Orbitz. NYC is usually great for airfare but a pain to drive into. You always have to worry about traffic. This will be our first trip out of hartford which is about the same distance for us to the airport.
