Going bagless

This my first trip without a baby or a toddler. This time it is a mother and son trip ( 10yo). So, I may be able to do a bagless trip to the park this time. I might feel naked without my bag though !

Actually DH and I don't know 'the drill' because you see, we're D I N K S. :)

Those were the days;) BUT those days maybe returning in the near future, the DDs are both in college and we DID do wdw without them 2 weeks ago, but still had a bag BUT only 1 bag:rotfl: I did go bagless at night, camera in dh's pocket and passes in my buttoned back pocket...and away we went.
During the day, my dh had to have his water and towel to wipe off, but then again...he carried the bag. So are we morphing to DINKS and no bag again?

We try to go bagless whenever possible and most of our necessities fit in our pockets but we've never solved the poncho problem. We don't like the thin plastic kind, and the more substantial ones don't fit in even a large cargo pocket. Any ideas from our fellow bagless aficionados?

I usually just use the small thin ones, they will fit easily into a back pocket. If you really don't like those, you can use one of the heavier ones but it won't fit in a pocket. What I do is I buy a couple of carbiner clips (or WDW has clip-on keychains) and if you ask nicely at any WDW store, they will give you an empty shopping bag. Get the smallest size the poncho will fit into, and clip the handles onto your belt loop! Voila -- still technically bagless, but your poncho is hanging off your belt like a dorky Batman toolbelt.

I try to carry everything I need in my pockets. Even my camera is small and will fit into the front pocket of some of my shorts or capris, but I feel better with it in its case. Sometimes I will stick anything else I need (keycards, etc.) into the camera case too, but it's very small and doesn't fit much. With a toddler, I can't go bagless but this will be our first trip since she's (mostly) potty trained so I sure am going to try! She still uses a stroller though, so I usually just toss everything in the bottom of the stroller.

Yeah, I'm willing to admit that I often slip even a larger size shopping bag onto my belt if need be, and have "decorated" my leg with printing off of the bag. Dorky is right!

Hahaha! Your "decorating" remark reminds of the time when I was about 15 that we went to Dollywood. Mom wore a brand-new outfit from the JCPenney catalog, it was a red and blue Hawaiian print number, matching shirt and shorts. Yikes! Well it rained that day, and when she got undressed at the end of the day... you couldn't tell! The print had transferred to her skin, and she was Hawaiian printed for several days. Talk about dorky!

I'd much rather have a Mickey stuck to my leg than palm trees on my naughty bits.

I was just talking to my Mom about this. We (DM and I) are going over Labor Day Weekend without the kids. I am not sure what to do with all my stuff. I do not want to have a bag or backpack. But I do not have a hard case for the camera. And DH will be here with the kiddies so no cargo pockets. Anyone have any ideas??

I fantasize about going bagless, but the reality is that I hate to carry stuff in my pockets and attaching things to my beltloops would drive me nuts.

I try to compromise by renting a locker to store bulky stuff like jackets, sweatshirts, extra socks, etc. and carrying just the essentials in my bag.

I guess I could always use my DD as my bag sherpa. Not sure she'd agree to that, though. ;)

This is cracking me up...
Not exactly bagless, but if you go with me, you carry your own stuff. DD, DS DH will all carry, I will no longer be the Sherpa Mom! That's the new rallying cry...Sherpa Mom's unite, throw off your bags....:woohoo:
Ha, ha...

When I go with just DD8 we bring one of those lightweight drawstring backpacks and we take turns carrying it. Usually she gets the first 1/2 of the day, I get the second 1/2... y'know, when it starts getting heavy... and I get to handle it on all rides. I call her my pack horse! She hates it but hey, most of the stuff in there is hers and I have a bad back, so the only other option is to leave it behind.

I honestly don't know what people put in those huge bags I see them schlepping around. With little kids I can understand, but even then I try to pack as light as possible and use the stroller basket. I'm too lazy to carry around all that crap! Give me my BodyGlide, a lipstick, my camera, my meds and some eye drops and I'm good to go.

we never take bags into the park (though my wife usually carries many out :sad2: :scared: ) and we take a small digital camera no problem. a large camera bag would probably get checked.
