Going back to where it all started- Sept. 2010 PTR

Unfortunately, I have a previous commitment on the day of the Macomber race and can't do it this year. My DH who usually volunteers on behalf of the fire dept is actually working that day at the station and can't be there either. But, we sign up and donate anyway every year whether we can be there or not.

I am sooooo behind on packing. I don't know what is going on. We have been so busy lately. I am gonna buckle down this week and get stuff together and then get us packed this weekend. Plus we have our nephew staying at our house to take care of the dogs, so gotta do an extra special cleaning and get him some "treats" for helping us out.

Are you worried about the storms at all? I think Igor is gonna be gone by the time we go and it looks like Julia is staying further out. I have never gone in September so I am a little nervous. Here's hoping we get some pixie dust to help us out.

I've heard great things about the race, such a good cause. So, want to guess how many times you and I have passed each other on 44 or at Target? So weird!! Have you seen me??! LOL!!

8 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW....what else can you say other than that!

I'm feeling nervous, unorganized, overwelmed, excited, happy and ready to go on our trip! Does any of that make sense?! :confused3

I feel like we got some good things done this weekend....and I got to cross some things off my list!:thumbsup2

Speaking of which...here it is...what am I missing?

I finally caught up with Tracey today, it had been a long time! It was so nice to catch up with her and chat about our plans, she said, she knows she had nothing to worry about and that I have everything taken care of! She knows me pretty well....

I bought Todd an anniversary present today, I have a feeling, a hunch, that he got me something, even though we say we are not to buy anything for each other! So, I decided to get him a Kindle. It's nothing he'd EVER buy for himself, and since he commutes to and from Boston on the train/bus every day, thought it would be nice, plus something that our parents can build on at Christmastime for him, too. So, now I have to figure out how to sneak it in our luggage and surprise him! Hmm.....I've also thought about ordering a cake or something but since we're on the dining plan, and get dessert, maybe it's too much, thoughts?:confused3

On other news, I have talked to both the big boys teachers and there are no issues for taking the kids out of school!:thumbsup2 Ethan will be responsible for a journal of our activities and any academics will be made up later, so that's easy enough. Lucas, is just in Kindergarten, and she wasn't concerned, at all, she wants to sneak in our suitcases!!:rotfl:

I've been hearing some rumors of storms, I can't bring myself to even look at accuweather or anything this far out, I'm afraid to! Please send pixie dust that we don't need to even think about that!:wizard:

On other notes, we got a GREAT call from Cole's allergist today!:woohoo: He has passed this blood test!!!!!!! We now have to go for the "peanut challenge" but they can't get us in until January! :( So we'll continue to avoid it, just in case, and carry our epipen. But this is a good sign!!!!!:thumbsup2

Hope you're all well!!!! And thanks so much for reading and being a part of my trip!!:goodvibes

Slowly but surely we're getting there....I won't panic...YET!!!;)

First congrats on your 5k! I did one last year but have yet to get one in this year:confused3. Maybe once we get back. Congrats to you for getting so many things done. I have 4 days and your list already looks more complete than mine:eek:. I have been 100% lazy today. I still have 2 days to go on my PTR!!! DH and I spent 1.5 hous last night trying to get our plans more organized. I still need to iron my clothes and well all the things you have on your list. Still going back and forth on a haircut. I'm so overwhelmed...shame on me for wasting today:sad2:

Hooray for 8 days! :cool1: I am feeling exactly the same way as you are right now. I seriously almost get teary eyed though when I think about all the possible DIS meets I may have on my trip!!! I know, I'm a big sap!

You're list just helped me out...I forgot about rolling our coins! Madison has a little star bank that she keeps on the kitchen table right now. Everyday when Tony gets home from work, he empties his pockets into her bank (how sweet!). Now, we have to roll all of that change plus the change in her bank upstairs! Thank goodness my DH works for a bank! On 2nd thought, we might keep most of the quarters and pennies for pressed pennies. We'll just transfer the $ from our account into Madison's account (we have a separte account under DH's name that is Madison's $. It works out great at Disney because she has a separate debit card that we bring instead of cash).

That is awesome that the big boys teachers are ok with your trip. I sent my note in today, but got nothing for a response. When we took Maddie out in 1st grade, her teacher had her write a "small moment" for each day of vacation and she drew a picture to go along with it. It was great! Right now, all Madison ever has for homework is a math worksheet and she has to read for 20 minutes. Not bad!

Great news about Cole!!!

I'm so jealous...I totally want a Kindle!!! I think it's a great idea to try to sneak it into the luggage somehow. Hmm...maybe you could put it into his carry-on in the morning while he's in the shower or something like that.

I love doing the 5k's! They are so much fun, for a good cause and get my butt doing something! I'm hoping to do another mid October, too, we'll see...it starts getting very cold here!! Hope you get to do another!:thumbsup2

Sometimes you just need a "down day" and do nothing, that was me Saturday afternoon, I begged Todd to just chill and relax (we NEVER do that!) and it was so nice, we even had a fire and just hung out with the boys. :cloud9: You'll get it done, no worries!! I can't believe how close you are!!

Aww Meghan, we're so made to be friends, I'm a sap, too! I cry about everything.....we're in trouble at CM then!

Glad I could help you! What a great idea about the account for Madison and the debit card, but I think you're braver than me, I'd be afraid the boys would lose it! I keep toying with the idea of cashing in the money and getting them each a Disney gift card for their spending money so when it's gone, it's gone, but afraid they'd lose it, too! Do you give Madison a $ amount she can spend or just go with the flow?
:confused3

Fingers crossed you hear something tomorrow for Madison! Tracey got a note from her teacher today for Hailey and they started giving her a bit of a hard time about taking 6 days off....only 5 are approved, but it worked out. PHEW!!!

Great news about Cole!!!

I know, soooo happy!!!

I hope he likes it!!!! And that's a good idea about the carry-on!!

If you don't mind my asking - what train station? I do the same type of commute, out of Middleboro/Lakeville.

No, not at all! He's at South Station!! Btw, we looked at houses out in Lakeville before deciding on moving to Plymouth!! Where in Boston do you work?

Oh my gosh, be sure to bring the tissues to CM!!!

Tony holds onto Madison's debit card while we're on vacation. With our bank, we can send a text and they text us back with how much is left in the account. We let her buy whatever she chooses because it's her money. She knows that when it's gone, it's gone! Madison's card has a different design on it so we can tell it apart from ours.

Poor Tony and Todd!! :rotfl:

Very cool, I'm not sure my boys are ready for that quite yet!!;)

That is a very sweet and probably PERFECT gift for Todd! You ar going to make the boys hats? As in sew?

No...no sewing!!! I'm challenged that way!! I bought plain white hats and I'm ironing (or going to attempt to....) something on them, will post pics if it works!

Great idea getting your DH the Kindle; that will be perfect for his commute! I told my DH that I want one for Christmas. It will be so much easier to carry around than books when I have doctor appointments, etc. :thumbsup2
