Hi i am thinking of going back to shool,to train as a nurse do you think as i am about to turn 40 i have left it a little late. The job i do at the moment is getting me down and quite frankly i dont want to go back ,but i know ihave too until i get accepted into collage. The thought of it is a little daunting but it is something i have wanted to do all my life :sunny:

Left it too late? Never!!! You go for it poody1, well done and good luck!!!:goodvibes

At 40 you're just a spring chicken and, let's face it, you have another 25 years (at least!!!) before retirement. Go for it!! You'd never forgive yourself if you didn't!! Good luck!!

I turned 40 this year, and no way would I think I was to old to re-train from something. I'm in the Civil Service and if they offer me a redundancy pacakge as part of their downsizing, I'll jump at it and re-train (as a school teacher).

You've got the opportunity and the desire to learn that's all you need - go for it!!!!! :flower: :flower:

When I started my training - back in 1971! - there used to be an upper age limit, that was under 40 I believe, but I think that has gone now. If you feel you want to do it, then have a go. It is demanding once you've qualified but the training is much more academic than when I did mine, and much more college based.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for your encouragement.I have an appointment for Wedesday to talk to someone about it. :flower:

It's never too late! Life is too short to waste it doing things we really don't want to be doing so if this would make you happier then I say go for and grab the chance with both hands!

Good luck :teeth:

It is never too late. I went back to uni at 28 and last Friday I gained my Masters in Counselling. Go for it.

Go for it! If you dont you will spend the rest of your life wondering "what if"...... :)

Go for it! If you don't you will spend the rest of your life wishing you had done it :)

Lots and lots of luck to you :)

As everyone has said before me You Go For It Girl !!! Good luck with your chat next week, and heres to the future :drinking1

As a fellow 40 year old who is almost half way through a healthcare related course ( operating department practitioner) go for it. I wont say it's easy but it's very rewarding. Gill

My best friend has just gradusted this year from bristol uni with her nursing degree, she's 35 and it took 1 year access course and 3 years hard study to get there, but she's loving it, go for it I'd say

Hi thanks for all your positive responses. I wont know till Dec/Jan if i have a place on the access to nursing course, but i am keeping my fingers crossed. :sunny:
