Can we get by without any ( or very little ) cash at WDW. Will all the snack carts, counter servces and table service restaurants take debit or credit cards. I am assuming that all stores will accept debit or credit cards

I hate having to contend with cash on vacation. that is ALL we use at home but we would prefer not to have to use it on vacation.

This probally seems like a weird thing for lots of people but it is just something that we prefer to do on vacation plus I end up with records of where and how we have spent money, I hate receipts.

We will be on the dinning plan so most food will already be taken care of.

yes I was surprised this june to see that even the snacks carts took credit cards

That is the way we do it. We take very little cash with us, mostly just tip money and just a little extra. Worse case we could always use an ATM at the park. We do take two credit cards though instead of one....just in case a problem arises, we want a back up plan.

I try to charge everything on my Disney credit card...what the heck earns me more for the next trip :earsboy:

Yes - you can most definetely go with very little cash. Just about every place takes debit/credit cards. I was surprised to see the soda machines in the parking lot at EPCOT even take credit cards :goodvibes

there were afew that didn't take cc or debit or room charge. for example the crepe stand in epcot..most however don't need cash

:rotfl: dang that I never saw anywhere :rotfl:

I did come across 1 cart on our last trip in MK that didn't take a CC. We usually used our debit cards everywhere too. We did always pop a single travelers check in our wallets too though. Sometimes those "lines" can go down and you just never know. I had this happen to me recently at a restuarant near home. It was very embarassing because I simply had nothing but my debit/credit card on me. It was thunder storming and the lines/satellite went down so they couldn't put my charge through.

yeah I had that happen when down there in June, the machine wasnt working, but I had cash with me as well, but when I can, charge everything and then just pay the entire bill when it comes.

I would tuck a $20 in a pocket to be on the safe side....you never know when the computers will crash and your in the mood for a mickey bar :mickeybar but other than that I'm sure you can get by on very little esp. with the bulk of your food already taken care of.

I am so glad to hear that the majority of the carts seem to be taking cc's now. I would much rather use my cc than cash. Does this mean that the majority of carts are now taking room keys as well? That would be even better.

From what I understand if they take a CC they will also accept a room key.

We rarely carry more than $20 around the Park. Everything goes on the room key or a CC depending on if we are staying at the Dolphin or a WDW resort.
Disney makes it very easy to charge things.

Our last rip we brought Disney dollars. I think we charged it all to room key and paid balance with DD (forgot exactly how we did it) but I remember we used mostly DDs and little cash. Just curious...... Does anyone know if those carts accept DDs too?

I never use cash anywhere, unless they don't take plastic. I like using plastic always, because of the rewards and it's easier to track all expenses. How do you think I'm paying for my next trip?

But, I have learned my lesson. I always carry at least $100 on me and I have about $500 in cash hidden away at home. I've learned when there is no power, you're pretty much stuck if you don't have cash. And when power is restored, it sometimes takes a while for the computers to come back online. Hurricane victims can probably attest to this.

Even though I'll be using strictly plastic at WDW, I'll still have some cash handy in case of emergencies.

We've spent as little as $300 cash in an almost two week trip. Most of our cash has gone for tips to housekeeping, bell services and valet's, and the champagne cart in Epcot.
