Go with the Flow....A Summer Trip to Remember! July 2012~ **Completed**

I hope everyone reading that was in the path of Sandy is safe. We were on alert here and ready for the worse. The boys were sent home early from school yesterday and we spent the afternoon watching the news and the weather channel awaiting Sandy’s arrival. Yesterday, by late evening the winds were whipping and it started to rain but thankfully it wasn’t as bad here as we thought it was going to be. We feel very fortunate. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who were affected.:grouphug:

“You can find... in your imagination... mysteries and magic, visions fantastic, leading to strange and wondrous dreams.” Fantasmic

When I left off, we had just explored One Man’s Dream, met Sorcerer Mickey, had fun drawing Tigger at the Animation Academy and we saved the day with Star Tours. It had been a great morning and afternoon but getting up so early for EMH was starting to wear us down especially with the heat and the crowds swirling around us. The boys were more than ready to head back to the resort for a rest and swim so we slowly made our way out of the park and back to Pop Century.

A short bus ride later we arrived and I had expected that everyone would want to take a nap but both the boys were eager to head to the pool. DH decided he wanted to stay behind. Apparently a nap sounded much more appealing to him! We changed into our suits and grabbed some towels and made our way to the elevators. On the way down, we discussed whether we wanted to just head to the 80’s pool or if we wanted to head over to the Hippy Dippy pool which we loved when we stayed over in the 70’s section a few years ago. After going back and forth we decided to head over to the Hippy Dippy pool. It was busy but not too bad as we were able to find a spot to put our things and then jumped in. Aww…it felt so good! The flowers in the corners of the pool spray cooler water so we have always found this pool more refreshing than the other pools. They were also having pool games and trivia. They would play Disney music and you had to guess which ride/movie it came from. It was fun but after about an hour we decided we’d had enough and decided to head back to the room.

As we approached our floor, we began to notice much more noise and activity than earlier. Apparently, a big tour group had just arrived and was placed on our floor. There were a lot of kids everywhere running up and down the hall. UGH! Just what we needed! As we walked inside DH was just starting to wake up. We changed and decided to hang out in the room for a while watching Stacey and just relaxing. Thankfully, the noise got better as they must have gone down to the pool or headed to the parks.

After our short rest, it was time to head down for dinner. We decided to eat in the food court at Pop again that evening for convenience. Since it’s been so long and I didn’t take notes about what we ate that night I can’t remember what DH and the boys decided to have. However, I do remember that I had the Greek Salad which I love and a bowl of grapes for my dessert. I was still full from our lunch at Sci-Fi and I knew that we would be snacking during Fantasmic later that evening. We enjoyed our meal and then about 6:30pm, we decided that it was time to head to the bus stop to wait for a DHS bus.

It wasn’t long before we had arrived!
350-2.jpg

My first of many blurry picture of the night…..apparently walking and taking pictures do not mix. At least they don’t for me!
352-2.jpg

We decided to head over to wait for Fantasmic to begin. I didn’t know how busy it was going to be and getting a good seat at Fantasmic means getting there really early. We didn’t mind though….that’s how much we like it!

356-1.jpg

We made our way inside and found a spot in the middle of the theater. As DH went to get popcorn and drinks, I snapped a picture-

Then we settled down for the long wait-
Say Cheese Nick!!
359-1.jpg

Hi Noah!
358-1.jpg

The first time we had seen Fantasmic was during our trip in 2010 and although we feel the wait is worth it, it’s still so boring to have to sit there for all that time. However, this time about an hour before the show started they had 3 guys interacting with the crowd. They had a sing-off and I think trivia questions. Anyway, it made the time go by much faster which we were very happy about!

Finally it was time for the show to begin! The popcorn was passed around and we sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the show!

I videotaped short clips here and there throughout the show. Here are a few of the shots I took from the clips (sorry the quality isn’t the greatest)

Aww…we love Fantasmic! Definitely one of our favorites!

However, the one thing we never enjoy is trying to get out after show. People were everywhere! Luckily, though it didn’t take too long and we were back out on Sunset Blvd.
371-1.jpg

Even though the park was still open for a little while longer we decided to make our way out for the evening. I attempted to get a few pictures of the boys before we left-
374-1.jpg

375-1.jpg

On our way out, I had reminded DH that if the line for Pop Century was too long we could always catch an Art of Animation bus and just walk across the bridge to get to our resort. Well…once we approached the bus stop it didn’t take us long to make up our mind when we saw only a couple families waiting at the AoA stop and the Pop one was full. We didn’t wait long and an AoA resort bus pulled up and soon we were making our way back to our room-
I grabbed a few night time pics on the way back….

377-1.jpg

378-1.jpg

379-1.jpg

381-1.jpg

We finally made it back to our room and collapsed on the bed. Periodically, throughout the night I had been worried about what we would encounter when we got back to our room. I had visions of loud, screaming kids running up and down the hall again and never getting to sleep. But, it wasn’t too bad. I was definitely relieved! We got ready and climbed into bed. It was such a fun day and Fantasmic was the perfect way to end the night! But, I couldn’t wait for tomorrow! So many things to look forward to as we were heading back to the Magic Kingdom for the day!

Next up—The best is yet to come!

We are also big fans of Fantasmic! I'm glad they have some pre-show entertainment. That wait is really long!

Great idea to ride the AoA bus. We have done the same thing with the POFQ bus when we are staying at POR. I'd rather be making some progress than standing in line!

Glad to hear you made it through Sandy safely. We got lots of rain and high winds, but managed to keep power. The boys had a day off of school. We feel blessed to have missed the worst of it. It looks like a lot of other areas (even close by) weren't so lucky.

It's good to hear that you guys made it through Sandy safe and sound. Unfortunately, there are so many folks who didn't.

Yay for making it back to Hollywood Studios to see Fantasmic. We absolutely love the show but agree that the wait can be a bit boring if there aren't any CMs doing pre-show entertainment.

You are one smart cookie to think of taking the AoA bus instead of the one for Pop.

Fantasmic looks so great. Another thing we need to make it to next year. It just seems like such a hassle and my non Disney-loving husband would not like that. pirate:

The wait is always so long for Fantasmic so it was a nice surprise to see a little pre-show entertainment. It definitely made time go by much quicker!:thumbsup2

So glad to hear that your family made it through Sandy safely!! We didn't lose our power either. We feel so fortunate because there are still so many people without power. Hopefully, they can get things taken care of quickly for these families.

Fantasmic can definitely be a long, boring wait. The pre-show entertainment definitely helped with that!!

It's a nice walk from AoA to Pop plus we got to see the resort again which was an added bonus!:thumbsup2

Fantasmic is such a fun show! If you get a chance you should definitely try and see it! But, I agree it can be a hassle which is why it took us 4 trips before we finally made it there ourselves.:rolleyes1

Magic Kingdom

“Storybook endings, fairy tales coming true, deep down inside, we wanna believe they still do…..” Enchanted

I woke up on this morning with mixed emotions. On one hand I was sad because it was our last full day at Disney. But, on the other hand I was really excited for this day to begin. As I was planning this trip I wanted to make sure to include a lot of fun things on this particular day so that we would be so busy enjoying ourselves that we wouldn’t have time to be depressed and that’s exactly what I did. We would be heading back to our favorite park…the Magic Kingdom! But, what I was most excited about was that I had booked the Wishes Dessert Party for later that evening and we would be experiencing our very first night time EMH. Yay!

Needless to say, it didn’t take me too long to wake up and get ready for the day. The boys weren’t too far behind either. The best part of today is that we didn’t have to rush to make it for opening since we had already seen the opening show on our first MK day. The plan today was to take a much more relaxing approach. So… with this in mind, we decided not to head down to the food court to grab breakfast therefore avoiding the chaos and instead head to MK and grab something at the Main Street Bakery for breakfast. A first for us! We had never been to the Main Street Bakery before! Can you believe it?

As we walked outside our room, we noticed a huge group of boys rushing by us and we moved off to the side to let them pass. Then made our way down to wait for a Magic Kingdom bus and as always didn’t have to wait too long before one pulled up. Soon, we were pulling up to one of my very favorite places. Aww…how I miss it!:cloud9:

We made our way inside—
383.jpg

384.jpg

Apparently, we had missed the mad dash at opening.
385.jpg

We were here!! I was so excited! We made our way to the bakery-
386.jpg

My first glimpse of the castle that morning! Aww…what a lovely sight! If only I could I see that every morning!
387.jpg

When we finally arrived at the bakery we were surprised to see it wasn’t as busy as we were expecting. I knew exactly what I wanted to get. One of those huge, gooey, yummy cinnamon rolls that I had been reading about and for some reason hadn’t gotten a chance to try yet.
407-2.jpg

DH and Nick both agreed that it looked very yummy and decided to get it as well. I was really hoping that Noah would want to try something new too but he settled on a chocolate croissant….something he could have gotten at Pop but…oh well it’s what he wanted and he seemed to enjoy it. The cinnamon roll was just as good as everyone claims it to be and so big! Nick had to help me finish mine. Trust me… he didn’t mind one bit!

After our yummy breakfast, we made our way back outside and of course I couldn’t get resist getting a few more pictures of the castle.
388.jpg

390.jpg

We made our way over to Adventureland—
I managed to get this on the way. I love this picture!
391.jpg

And this one…
392.jpg

And….this one!
393.jpg

Seriously, can you ever have too many pictures of the castle?
We finally made it!
394.jpg

We decided to head toward the Jungle Cruise with a 5 minute posted wait time but really there was no wait and soon we were getting on our boat-
Away we went!
395.jpg

396.jpg

We really enjoyed the ride as usual. We love the corny jokes and laugh every time!

Next up was one another favorite that we had actually just discovered on our last trip. I don’t know why it took us so long to ride!
398.jpg

399.jpg

After trying to spot Jack Sparrow and just plain enjoying the ride, we made our way outside and browsed the gift shop for a while before deciding to head over to Frontierland.
My horrible attempt at trying to get a picture as we were going under the sign—
400.jpg

Oops….oh well!

It was a little after ten and we were hoping to hop on Splash since we didn’t get a chance to ride it on our first MK day since Nick wasn’t feeling well.

On our way over—
401.jpg

There it is!!
402.jpg

“You’re gonna get wet!!” :rotfl:

Almost there!
403.jpg

404.jpg

When we got there we realized that wait was a little longer than we wanted to wait so DH decided to grab some fastpasses while we stood off to the side and waited for him….
405.jpg

With fastpasses in hand, we stood to think about what we wanted to do next. The boys really wanted to ride BTMRR again and since there was really no specific plans for this day we decided to head over in that direction to check out the wait time. BTTMR here we come!

Up Next— “Mom…I’m not sitting next to you! You always get soaked!”

Hey Angie,

Glad you didn't get too much of Sandy...they kept predicted different ways the storm way going to turn...:confused3

(I'm using the wifi in a coffee shop... we unfortunately lost power at 7 p.m. and are still waiting... supposed to have back tomorrow... I thought I was being very mature about the whole thing... but last night... I started to get a little cranky...:headache:-but the most important thing is everyone is safe and we had no damage... (except my mental state....:rotfl:)

I am so glad you made it to Fantasmic... we've never gotten there- I think because we've gone back to rest or swim and then I can't get everyone moving...this time... we'll be there ... no matter... what... Love the photos...:goodvibes

Ahhh... isn't the Magic Kingdom the one park that truly truly says Disney? As much as I like the others... the MK is the only one that makes me tear up...walking in and seeing the Castle in the distance...

Owww.... Splash coming up... I ride that for my kids to save face but that scares me more than ToT or Space Mountain....So do you always get wet on Splash...;)

Okay, I thought we were there at the same time....but we didn't get there until the 18th, so I guess if your last day was the 15th...hmmm...

Well, anyway...loved this update. I just love the Magic Kingdom! I could spend the entire week just in and out of MK. Well I might have to hop over to Epcot one night, but other than that I could stay right there and be happy. Your pictures are just so good and bring me right back there!

Hi Angie! So glad to hear you are doing fine after Sandy.

Last day blahs :( .... boo but you started off right by heading to the Bakery! The cinnamon roll is a little too huge for me so on our trip I was looking to split one with someone. No takers, they wanted one all to themselves  so I tried a little raspberry roll instead. Not bad but I missed that gooy goodness. Is there any truth to a rumor I heard that the Bakery will be replaced by a Starbucks? :scared1:

No, it is impossible to have too many pictures of the Castle!

Great morning so far!

The last day...so sad! But there's no better way to spend it than at the Magic Kingdom! Soak up all the magic you can before heading back to real life!

You can't have too many castle pictures. Ever. Main Street bakery is a perfect start to the day! I've never tried the cinnamon roll but oh I've been tempted!

Caught up just in time for the last day! I wasn't as far behind as I thought. Apprently I'd read a couple updates on my phone & hadn't commented. I can't wait to hear what you thought about the Wishes party! We mostly enjoyed it in April... except for the rude lady. :headache:

Boy I am so far behind! Where to begin!? I will mention a few highlights I thought since I am (or was) behind! 1) Rock-n-Roller: I seem to miss this one the past few times as well. There are a few I just can't seem to fit in! 2) I am so glad you liked Sci-Fi!! :hyper: We have always had a good experience there. I am with you 100%: give it a try and judge for yourself. There are several places I would have missed if I went solely by the reviews people give! 3) Great job on the Tigger pictures!! :thumbsup2 4) Ah, POP.........great pictures there, brought back some good (extremely recent) memories although the only memories I may ever have there...:rolleyes1 5) Loved the castle pictures!!! And the cinnamon roll is DIVINE!!! The chocolate croissant is delicious too though!

Yay!! I am caught up! Let's see how long it stays that way!!

Hey Patricia,

I was so sad to hear you were still without power.:sad2: Hopefully, it's back on for you now!:goodvibes

I think you'll really love Fantasmic! It's such a fun show! It's too bad you have to get there so early to see it. Well...unless you have the Fantasmic package. But, at least they have pre-show entertainment now so that helps with the wait!:thumbsup2

All the parks are great but nothing truly makes me happier than going to the MK, walking down Main Street U.S.A and seeing the castle....love it!!

I don't know what it is about Splash Mountain...I always get soaked!!!It doesn't matter if I'm in the front seat, the back seat, on the left or on the right.:rotfl:

Okay, I thought we were there at the same time....but we didn't get there until the 18th, so I guess if your last day was the 15th...hmmm...

Well...technically our last day wasn't until the 16th. MK was our last full day in the park but we did manage to sneak in a little park time somewhere else before we left the next afternoon. It looks like we missed each other by only 2 days....:sad2:

I completely agree with you!!! I would love to be able to visit MK every day and just pop in and out of the other 3 parks. Hmm....that's an idea I may have to think about for next time!!:rolleyes1

Yum! A raspberry roll sounds very yummy too! With Nick around I usually always have someone willing to split something with me. Actually both boys were more than willing to help me finish my desserts this trip...now that I think about it.:rotfl:

Really? I had heard the rumor about Starbucks coming to WDW but I didn't know it was to replace the bakery. I hope not!:sad2:

Castle pictures are the best!!:cloud9:

I agree...it is so sad!!:sad2: I couldn't think of any place I'd rather be than in the Magic Kingdom on our last full day at the parks.:thumbsup2 We did manage to squeeze in a little more time at Epcot the next morning before we left though...so I guess it wasn't really our last park day.:)

You can't have too many castle pictures. Ever. Main Street bakery is a perfect start to the day! I've never tried the cinnamon roll but oh I've been tempted!

I love castle pictures!! I could keep taking them...and taking them. If it wasn't for the boys yelling..."Come on, Mom! Let's go!" I probably would too!:rotfl:

I agree!! The bakery was a perfect start to the day and the cinnamon roll was very yummy!!:thumbsup2

Hi Amy!

I can't wait until I get to the Wishes party so I can I share with everyone! Only a few more updates to go!:)

Boy I am so far behind! Where to begin!? I will mention a few highlights I thought since I am (or was) behind! 1) Rock-n-Roller: I seem to miss this one the past few times as well. Yay!! I am caught up! Let's see how long it stays that way!!

I was sad that we missed RNRC but there wasn't really anything we could do if it was closed.:( On the bright side...we can always put it on our list for next time!

I'm so glad that we tried Sci-Fi! We have wanted to visit for the longest time but the reviews have always been so mixed. I decided on this trip I wasn't going to wait any longer and I'm so glad we didn't! I think it's become a must-do for us from now on!:)

Oh no...it sounds like Pop didn't go over well. Aww...it is a fun resort, bright colors and all but probably not the best if you are looking for something more relaxing. Glad to hear you had some good memories though....:goodvibes

Glad to hear that chocolate croissant is good at the bakery.:thumbsup2 Noah seemed to really like it! He gobbled it right up!:)

Love your TR!! We love the Sci-Fi!! It's always a must-do for us. Can't wait to hear about the dessert party. My two boys aren't dessert lovers so we've never done this- but I'd like to try it once!:)

Glad you joined in! I'm so happy we decided to try Sci-Fi this trip! It was a great experience! I'm sure we'll be back!:thumbsup2 I can't wait to share what we thought of the dessert party!! Only a few more updates.:)

“Everybody's got a Laughing Place…..A Laughing Place to go-ho-ho.” Splash Mountain Medley

When I left off we had just arrived at the Magic Kingdom, had breakfast for the first time at the Main Street Bakery, stopped to get some castle pictures, rode the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, grabbed Fastpasses for Splash and were finally making our way over to one of our favorite attractions BTMRR.

However, as we approached, we noticed that the wait time was a little high. I can’t remember exactly but I know it was over 30 minutes…not too bad but not exactly what we were expecting either. But, since it's one of our favorites we decided to take a chance and hop into line. Unfortunately, we ended up getting mixed in with a huge family on vacation which was in front of us and behind us. So, they were constantly bumping into us and hollering to the people in front of us. Now…we probably could have let the ones behind us catch up with the others but the family was huge. There were probably at least 15 or 20 of them behind us. So, we just stood there politely as conversations flew by us this way and that way. Noah kept himself busy taking pictures. Here are a few that he got while were waiting…..

As we made finally made our way inside, we opted to take the right side down to the train because the line always seems to move quicker. I’m not sure if it works like this all the time but it did on our trip as everyone tends to stay on the left. Anyways, it wasn’t too long before we boarded our runaway train! We loved it as always!:thumbsup2

Since we still had a little bit more time before we could use our fastpasses we decided to take a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad.
411.jpg

408.jpg

412.jpg

413.jpg

We decided to stay on for the whole loop. What can I say….we really enjoy riding the train. It’s relaxing and really an attraction all its own!

When we made our way back to Frontierland, it was just barely time to use our fastpasses for Splash.
403.jpg

The boys were more than ready to head in----
406-1.jpg

407-1.jpg

Let me just say that I really do love this ride….but I hate the thought of getting soaked. Yes…I am one of those people. The ones that no matter where they sit, whether it be in the front, the back, the left or right side, I always walk away from the ride looking like a drowned rat! It’s actually become a joke in my family…so much so that just before the ride Nick spoke up and told me that he didn’t want to ride with me because of it. Noah agreed him and they actually starting arguing about who would have to ride with me. Talk about making a person feel good.:rolleyes1 Actually it was all in good fun and we had a good laugh about it. In the end, Nick stepped up and off we went to wave hello to Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox. It was another great ride as usual…and yes, I did get wet! But, surprisingly not as soaked as normal, either that or it was just so hot that day that I barely noticed.:upsidedow

After our plunge on Splash Mountain, it was time to figure out what we wanted to do next. The boys were complaining that they were hungry so we decided that we might as well make our way over to get something to eat. We hadn’t visited Pecos Bills since our first trip back in 2008 so we decided it would be a perfect opportunity to go back. Again...since it's been so long, I can’t remember what the boys got….probably cheeseburgers. But, I know that DH and I both ordered the taco salad which was very yummy.
165-2.jpg

I think the best part of Pecos Bill’s is the toppings bar….yum!

After getting our food, we made our way into the dining room which was packed but we happened to notice an almost empty room off to the left so we made our way inside. Finally, a nice quiet place to eat!! Well…until I took my first bite and looked up to see a huge tour group walk in and settle down all around us. They were literally everywhere. Ugh...there went our quiet lunch. Oh well, we still enjoyed our meal and then made our way back outside into the bright and very hot sunlight.

We decided to head over to the Shooting Gallery so the boys could play a little.

DH and I passed the time playing a little game of checkers.

Continued in next post—

Continued from previous post--

At this point, we really began to feel how hot it was outside and decided that we should really make our way back to the resort for a rest since it was going to be such a long night.

Noah remembered something that he wanted to do first though before we left so we made our way over…..
422.jpg

421.jpg

Nope…not this. Although, he really did want to do this but we were saving this for later on that evening.

It was actually the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game! We picked up our cards and map, then set out on our quest.

On our way over, I spied the parade in the distance and snapped a pic—
423.jpg

We finally made it to our destination!
425.jpg

424.jpg

We ended up only doing a few of the missions as they were all over and everyone was starting to get tired. I really wish we would have discovered this sooner in the trip because we unfortunately never made it back.

As we made our way out of Magic Kingdom that afternoon, it really hit me that our trip was starting to come to an end. I wanted to soak up as much of the magic as I could so I began snapping random pictures down Main Street.
