The day had finally arrived, I had had such a brilliant time I didnt want it to end
But it had to and reality was calling, but not quite yet I still had the Upper Class flight home
First thing though was brekkie at Starbucks across the road from the hotel and one last piccie of the hotel
As Virgin do not have a Club House at LAX I was able to use the Air New Zealand one. My flight was due to leave at 5.15pm and I got to the airport about 1.15pm. The check in was already busy but was not open. About 3 hours prior to departure check in opened and I was first in the queue for Upper Class, but had done on line check in the previous day, so it was just the formalities. My luggage was not even weighed and got taken for me to the x-ray, I could get used to this. I was then given the fast track pass to security and breezed through it, even using the new body scanners, lol. As soon as I got in to the departure lounge I made a beeline for the lounge. It was a very nice lounge, lovely views and food, with a help yourself bar
In the distance you could see the Hollywood Hills
The flight was called about an hour before departure and it was so nice just breezing past everyone else waiting to board! I soon settled into my suite on the lower deck of the 747, it was nice to experience the contrast between the airbus and 747
Due to the shape of the 747 and being at the front there seemed to be so much space and the cabin crew seemed to be more attentive than on the Airbus! After the obligatory pre flight champagne we were soon on our way
Not long after take off dinner was served, I started with - Poached petite lobster tail with panzanella salad in a sherry vinaigrette dressing
By now we were over the Rockies
Main course was then served and mine was - Grilled beef fillet with maitre d'butter, Yukon gold mashed potato and green beans with garlic and herbs
After this I gave dessert a miss and settled down for the night
I got a couple of hours sleep but got so hot and ended up at the bar chatting to the cabin crew for a while
The night lighting onboard was nice
Breakfast was then served about an hour or so before landing - Scrambled eggs with cream cheese, grilled Irish bacon, banger sausage, potato hash brown, button mushrooms and cherry tomato
We landed virtually on time and once off I was able to use the Iris channel at passport control. After getting my luggage I caught the hoppa back to the Crowne Plaza and got in my car. An hour and a half later I was back home!! So what next after such a holiday?? Well WDW was calling for 2012 but 2013, camping may be high on the list but which tour...
