Go in 2018 or wait for 2019?

Since it looks as though a 2017 trip is out (I keep holding my breath for that miracle), the next earliest time would be summer 2018. However, would it really be worth going then, or would you wait and go in 2019, hoping that Star Wars Land is done by then? We definitely want to see SWL. Or, would you take the earlier trip for the sake of not having to wait, and just hope to get back to see SWL a few years later? What is the likelihood of TSL being completed by summer 2018?

I would go in 2018. That's my plan BUT I'm not a Star Wars fan. We did August 2015 and I wish we could go in 2017 but I don't think it's going to happen.

I don't believe Star Wars will be ready by 2019 for WDW. Disneyland maybe. Go in 2018 then wait for Star Wars for another trip.

If you go in 2018 and SWL isn't open, would you be devastated? When might you get back after that.

If it would really put a damper on your trip, I would just wait on 2019. Ask the people waiting on Rivers of Light. But many of them go several times a year, so a miss isn't as big a deal. For just an occasional trip, it would be harder to know you had just missed.

I would go in 2018, but am not a huge SW fan. Plus, I think once it opens, crowds are going to explode.

Never base a trip on a potential land opening.

As of now Toy Story is looking at Summer 2018, Star Wars late 2019. Those can and will change so don't expect things to be done then.

I think going before SWL opens will be the time to go. It's going to be a madhouse once it opens and probably for a while. Even though it is in DHS, the crowds are going to spill over into MK and the other parks as well. Then come back and see SWL a few years later once the hype dies down. I don't think Toy Story Land is going to be anything worth planning around either way.

Ideally, we would go back in another 2-3 years. But... life is uncertain, so who knows. I wouldn't be devastated if SWL wasn't open in 2018, I'd just be happy to be back at DW :) However, after that, if it was 2019, and something happened and it wasn't open in time for our trip, yeah, I'd be pretty disapppointed, since we would be specifically planning that trip around SWL.

If we went in 2018 I'm thinking it would be end of August 2018, so *hopefully* TSL would be up and running, lol.

I'd go back when I could budget the time and money and not worry about what's open or not.

I so agree with this! I'm kind of disappointed Pandora will be (should be?) open just before we go back. I'm kind of hoping it's not.:crazy2:

I'm also casting my vote for 2018, if you plan your trip around SWL and it isn't open you will have to wait even longer before getting back to Disney to see it. I would go in '18 and then a few years later!

If you'll be happy just to be at Disney World, and SWL is nice-to-have, I'd go as soon as your time and budget allows. So I'd pick 2018.

It's probably just me and the fact that I'm not much for planning so far out... but I don't know what my life circumstances will be in 2019. It feels like some futuristic idea rather than a real date. You could always return in 2020, 2023, and/or 2025 and see the next newest attraction.

I think the likelihood of SWW finished in 2018 is very slim.

Would a trip both years be possible?

If anything was learned from ROL, it was don't count on things staying on schedule.
