Gnomies Gone Wild

:lmao::rotfl::lmao: No but how about booking a 2nd? Maybe? Let's keep it in mind... ;)

As much as I would LOVE to join all of you, there is no way I will ever convince Greg to let me take a second trip and I fully anticipate I will be in a new teaching job and taking time off that soon into the school year just won't be in the cards for me. I'm just focusing my happiness into the fact I get to go in May. By October I predict a full out jealous attack though!!

You are going to have such a blast in May, Katie!!! I will be going through serious withdrawals by then, I am sure. July seems a very long way away!

It would be a lot of fun, that's for sure!
Yes, it would be!

You are going to have such a fun time!! :thumbsup2

We'll have to see how finances are this coming year -- maybe Charles and I can sneak down again -- I know he wouldn't say no to another Food and Wine trip. ;)

That would be so much fun. I've already started my coin jar. I ended up having a couple hundred $ in coins last year! I hope it works out!!

Well I certainly hope that you are in a new teaching job that you love. But it would be even better if the new teaching job came with a 3-4 day weekend in Mid October. ;) I'm not going to give up hope yet. And you can bet that I will be having a full out jealousy attack of my own in January, May, summer and all the rest of the DIS'er trip dates! 9 months is a long time to wait but I know it'll fly by just like it did last year.

So what is everyone doing on New Years Eve?

I think my husband is going to pass out on me well before midnight. He was to work overnight tonight and then we both have a doctor's appointment at 11:30 tomorrow, so I doubt he'll get much sleep during the day. I'm bummed out.

I dream of our district changing to a year-round calendar to allow for an extended break in Sep/Oct. (just a dream, it will never happen I'm sure!)

You know, if you decide to go through with the bounceback you booked for May, that would alleviate a lot of your jealousy issues and is almost exactly 1/2 way between your Dec and Oct trips

So what is everyone doing on New Years Eve?

We have a couple errands to run in Des Moines and there is a family new year's celebration at the events center (rides, games, inflatables, etc) It wraps up at 8:00 with fireworks so we will be home by 10:00. Maybe I'll pick up a bottle of bubbly in case Greg and I want to celebrate together after dropping the kids in their beds. I'm more likely to be asleep than he is though :sad2:

C, you booked a bounceback for May!?! :rolleyes1

It's not that I even really want to do anything. This has been a big year for us and I'd just like to ring it in together. Maybe he'll last that long, but I doubt it.

No plans. I've never liked NYE. Seems like an over-hyped holiday to me. Or maybe I've just never been with the right person (which isn't going to change this year, unfortunately!).

If anyone wants to DIS chat that night, just let me know. I'll be here with my own bubbly! :upsidedow

Wow! That enabling came out of nowhere! You are good!!!

I did book as a "preventative" measure. But my work situation (and every situation) is really up in the air right now so I don't want to count on it. I'd put current likelihood under 50% but you never know!

Oh, I meant to add, LL - just celebrate it early. Turn your clocks ahead and pretend it is midnight when it's only 8 or whenever. It's the symbolism and feeling that counts, right?

Well, I do have a couple ADR's for 3 instead of 2. You could save me the embarassment of saying 1 didn't show up :flower3:

You guys have a way of making a hoped for trip become a reality so I'm still hoping :upsidedow

Everytime the commercial comes on for the gift card promotion I bat my eyes at Marc. :lmao: It's not working so far. Especially since my boss is pregnant and now I'm worried she'll be out during my two week vacation in September....I don't want to waste that! :rotfl2: I might move it up.

C, I suppose I could turn the clocks ahead. I guess in the big scheme of things it really doesn't matter.

I'm right there with Katie on the jealousy boat!!! ;) It would be SO much fun to be there with you all, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to none considering that I will probably be back to work teaching again by the fall---and I too doubt that I will be able to slip away for a fall break. I would love to whisk Tom and Megs away for a little extended weekend then, but that is a quarter close for Tom (accountant) so he won't be able to vacation at all. It would kill him with envy and jealousy if I took just a Mom and Megs trip---and I love him TOO much to do that......so I will sit here and pine away with jealousy over all the fun you all are going to have!!!!! (double pout!) ;)

In regards to NYE, every year we all go over to one of our best friend's houses---this started as a wild NYE party when we were all single or married without kids, but now has turned into quite the family-friendly bash! 30 little ones from 8yo down to 1 month running around in their PJs is quite the sight! It is always a good time!

LL....I think you should set the clocks back and celebrate early....just remember that it is midnight somewhere in the world at that moment! You could even look it up to see who would be celebrating then, and pretend you are there in that country....you could even do a themed dinner from that country for the evening!! Have fun and Happy New Year to you all!

Ooh...I love that idea Jen!! That would be such a fun party idea. Pick 4 or 5 countries in consecutive time zones and have a progressive dinner so to speak
