I just finished watching the Disney Christmas Special. I was in tears at the end. I need to go at Christmas. I can't imagine combining Disney & Christmas together, two of my favorite things!

I was looking at the Disney Food thread and someone posted pictures of Small World cookies that are for sale at the Contemporary. Connor happened to be walking by, stopped dead in his tracks, and exclaimed, "They have Small World cookies???" I said, "Yes, at Christmastime. Do you think we should go at Christmas next year?"

He was all about it until I told him that would mean just hanging around here this summer. He shook me by the shoulders and said, "Why can't we just stay in a broom closet at Pop and go twice?"

He cracks me up!

That's the way I am leaning right now -- we always manage to find plenty to do during the summer so I think we could manage.

I cannot recommend holiday time enough... it is very magical. Seeing the castle with the lights is worth it all by itself. But add in the Candlelight Processional, Osborne lights, the holiday storytellers around World Showcase and all the amazing decorations??

Awww...I'm definitely going to have to get my Disney groove on...I wonder if I can't just hit the road and go down there for a day or two during Christmas vacation LOL....I don't think I could be that spontaneous but the thought was nice!!!

Jen you should check out the DVC for rent board! Last time I visited, there were a number of people with confirmed reservations at break time who were past their cancellation date and not able to make their trip. They are selling the reservation for cheap just to get anything in return for losing their points!

Trust me CP, you should definitely go at Christmas, for nothing else other than the trees, DHS lights and the decorations. Like I said before, Blake and I associate Christmas time with Disney now, it is truely amazing.

Does anyone watch Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on food network? They're having a special Disney Christmas food showing on Saturday at 9pm, eastern time. Guy is supposed to be going into the restaurants...totally have it taped to watch already!

Oh, wow. Thanks for letting me know. I hadn't heard that. It will be a tough call for me to choose b/w Andy Garcia and Kirk Cameron. Hmmm...

Which would you choose? Since I love World Showcase so much maybe I'll just see both from the "cheap seats."

Hey girlies!

I just needed to stop over here and vent a moment and I can't say anything on FB because some of those involved would see.

My parents called this afternoon to let us know they will not be coming home for Christmas. My Dad has not been feeling well for quite a few weeks now and the doctors can't quite seem to figure out what is wrong. He just doesn't feel up to the long drive and dealing with the cold weather and snow.

I totally understand their decision. They need to do what is best for them.

they then told me that my younger brother and his family may not come to Iowa either (my SIL's parents will come to them instead) this makes me very sad because that cuts my family in half.

I just feel so sad because both of my brother's have in-laws that they can spend the holidays with. Even though they will lose out on some of our traditions, they will still get to be with family. since we have no relationship with Greg's family, this isn't an option for us.

My older brother had given me a heads up that they were considering this and he said they would have us and our younger brothers family together at their house but now it would only be the 2 families. He also said that my SIL's parents said we are welcome to thier house for Christmas. We love them and will probably take them up on their offer but it just won't be the same. Being a guest in someones home just isn't the same as going home

I'm just feeling so sad right now I know someday my parents will be gone and we will have to start our own traditions, I just wasn't ready for it yet

I don't spend time with my family at Christmas.... and this year we won't be spending it with Tom's either.

Sometimes it is nice having your own traditions. Besides, You can also incorporate some of your parents traditions into your holiday this year. It will work out for you... if you want it to.

Personally, I'm not counting down the days til Christmas....I count down the days til it's over.

I'm really looking forward to Santa not coming anymore (maybe next year??) How mean and awful am I??

Why is it that holidays get so stressful?? I guess so many expectations about the perfect one that it can never ever live up to it. And family together always spells conflict...

At least we have eachother. I wish we all lived close enough that we could have eachother over to our houses for a DISer Christmas!

Maybe we should schedule a virtual DISer holiday open house if not before the holiday then sometime in Jan to help with the post holiday letdown.

Katie, I'm sorry! That stinks. I look forward to spending time with my parents on Christmas so I understand where you are coming from. I just love the Christmas season and spending time with family. But I also love having traditions for just Marc & I.
