Gnomies Gone Wild

Morning girls! Sorry I haven't been around so much lately. Keeping the boys busy to avoid driving me crazy hasn't given me much time to chat but I have been reading along!

JJ, how is vacation? Hope you are enjoying your time with the in-laws

MM, when do you leave? I hope Megs cast doesn't put too big of a damper on your plans.

LL, did I say congrats on your A? (I think I did on FB but that deserves two :thumbsup2)

CP, is the decluttering done? I have a garage and basement here that is a nightmare if you want to visit Iowa! We don't have beaches or Mickey Mouse but I make a mean margarita!

C, how was your movie? Confession...I've never seen The Notebook. Thanks for that link, what a great story!

I'm trying to not get my hopes up but I could use a little pixie dust on a job prospect. There is an indian settlement about 20 minutes from town that needs a part-time middle school science teacher. There are only 40 students at the MS so class numbers would be LOW and I have heard that the settlement (which owns a casino) spends a lot of money on resources for their school. I have also heard however that education is not a high priority for many in their culture (one of the Mom's I know from PTA works at their elementary school and she has shared some frustrations). We'll see...wish me luck!

It's going to be a rainy Sunday in Iowa and Greg is gone to a basketball tournament. I think the boys and I will just lay low for the day, we have another busy week ahead!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends :)

I've got my fingers crossed for you, Katie! :wizard:

Thanks on the congrats on my A. :thumbsup2

How is everyone doing?

I went out for a walk this morning. It showed me I have a lot of work to do between now and the 5k on October 2nd. :scared1:

The recital was AMAZING....and as always, I teared up a few times like I always do! I am just so darn proud of her, and she is so much fun to watch as she dances with that HUGE, GLORIOUS smile plastered all over her face!!! :) I will definitely get pictures on here, but it won't be until tomorrow. Today is CRAZY busy---we have a graduation party, a birthday party for Megan's classmate, and I am hosting a meeting for my CRHP group from church here tonight at 7pm!!!!! YES, I am in insane, but after tonight, my whole week is pretty free and clear so I am looking forward to that!

Guess who was talking about how much he would rather be going to WDW than to the beach yesterday in the car?!?!?!?! I KNOW!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! He was even talking about giving up the money we put in on the house rental in OBX! I know we both are in a way dreading the trip because of all our limitations now, but I do think I have his interests peaked about a WDW trip later this year. Do you think I should shoot for the second week in August (his next week off and no school for Megs or I yet), or focus on Thanksgiving week? I can't figure out which would be less crowded. Does anyone have the stats on which of those weeks would be less crowded!??!?! If you do, let me know! I'm getting WAY excited! :)

On the job front......I am in the running for one of two positions at Tom's high school, which is in our county. One is a full-time and one a part-time English position, and I wouldn't care one bit which I would get. I won't hear about an interview though until after the 23rd of this month because they have to leave the job posted until then. BUT, last night on FB, I received an email from a lady I used to know----her daughter was in my first class my first two years of teaching and she always LOVED me----she found me on FB after seeing Megan's name in the program at her dance recital on Friday night. (Ironically enough, she was there watching two of her students perform too!) BUT CATCH THIS......guess where she teaches right now?!?!?!?!?!? AT THAT SAME HIGH SCHOOL WHERE I AM IN THE RUNNING FOR THE TWO JOBS!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it?!?!?!?! I know this woman well, and now that she knows I just applied for those positions, I KNOW she will be putting in a good word for me to the principal there. :) She is VERY direct like that!!!! So that made me smile a little bigger this morning!!!! ;) Keep sprinkling the pixie dust though! Have a great Sunday loves!

Hi gals,

Katie - lots of :wizard::wizard::wizard: to you on the job! Keep us posted. I didn't watch the movie yet so my cryfest will have to wait for next weekend, I think.

LL- I am so impressed you are training for a 5K. That is AWESOME!!

Jen- touring plans lists the crowd calendar as 8's and 9's the second week of August and almost exclusively 9's the week of Thanksgiving. If you want more detail, let me know. I don't think you can go wrong either way... it's WDW! So cool you have a hubby who is dying to go as well! :)

So I am off to a James Taylor concert tonight and tomorrow I am taking the day off from work for a spa day. :cloud9: I could use a little decompressing. My guy is being an a$$. AGAIN. :sad2:

Hope you all have a good Sunday!! :)

thanks! I like him too. Something about his voice is very soothing. And it's a nice excuse to go out for dinner and have some girly drinks and yummy food! :upsidedow

Katie, you have been busy lately! Good luck on the potential job! If there are margaritas being offered, I could possibly be persuaded to come declutter.

LL, how long did you walk for this morning? We went out for a bit, and I came home with that book I showed you last night. It's good so far, but then, I fell asleep for an afternoon nap. It makes me wish we were heading to an idyllic summer resort up north though. Of course, we know it's going to go horribly awry here in a few chapters, so I will probably change my mind. ;)

Jen (MM), I have no help on either week, but I would think the August week would be less crowded. Lots of pixie dust for the potential jobs for you!!! Isn't it always nice to run into parents who still remember you fondly?

Christine, have fun tonight at the concert and tomorrow's spa day. Sounds like you need the fun -- sorry your guy is being a jerk again. :headache:

I went out and did 1.07 miles. I found this cool website that maps your run/walk for you and tells you how long it is. It took me 19:22 to do the 1.07 miles which means I have over 3 minutes to shave off my time in 110 days. I'm freaking just a teeny bit.

I'm almost done with Remarkable Creatures. I like it, it's very good. It's one of those books that I don't think reached it's true potential but I like it because it's not the usual historical romance type book if you know what I mean....??

You'll get there -- 110 days is a long time to work on shaving off those three minutes. Don't stress yet. :goodvibes

I will definitely have to read it then. I just checked my library, and they do have it! :thumbsup2

I'm trying not to stress. It's not working well though. I know I'll get there, once I can consistently get under 16 minutes with walking I'll feel better. Then I can work on my running. Oy.

It's a good book, worth the read. I've been slacking on keeping track of the books I've read. I need to write the last few down to keep to my list!

Don't think about the running right now -- just think about the walking. One step at a time. :thumbsup2

May was not a good month for me -- with all the craziness, I only read six books -- nowhere near my April total of fourteen!

One step at a time. You are so right. The good thing is I'm looking forward to walk tomorrow, I see it as a challenge to shave off some time. Marc asked if he could go with me after work and I told him I might leave in my dust. ;):rotfl2:

I don't even know how many I read. I have to sit down and think about it. Though in the last week or so I've read at least 3 or 4.

Oh my goodness! You are doing way better than me. I don't know why I can't seem to sit still and read lately. I seem to have developed the attention span of a gnat.

Yeah but before that I hadn't finished a book in weeks. Very unlike me. I think with everything that I have going on that the TV is too big of a draw to me. I get sucked into the mind numbing power of it. It's a welcome refuge after a week at work and school. :rotfl2:

That can be so true. ::yes::

WOW you two are insane readers!!! I can barely get through 1 book in like 2 weeks LOL!! Of course I am almost done with the Lady Emily 1st book and working through my Darcy's Story...so I might be reading two books at the same time LOL...how is that for attention span!!

Things are going well this morning! Need to get my butt in gear and do my ZUmba and I think I'm going with my MIL tonight to do a water aerobics class...bring on the exercise today LOL!!!!!

C...hope you're having a great day at the Spa!!

Katie...praying for you and your job prospects!!!!!!

Good Morning Gnomies!!

How is everyone today??

Hi, LL! I am fine. Finally made it to Goodwill this morning to take a bunch of stuff, then, I have spent the afternoon reading. :goodvibes

How are you doing?

Hi, Jen! Are you loving the Lady Emily book? I hope so since LL and I talked about it so much.

Sounds like you have a very active day today -- since it feels about 100 degrees outside today, I think I will be lazy. ;)

I'm having a craptastic day at work. Seriously, it's been one thing after another. I'm trying to zone out for a few minutes so my blood pressure will go back down to a normal level. :rotfl2:

I've also made myself a list of things I want to accomplish tonight so I don't go home and sit my lazy butt on the couch and not move until it's time for bed.
