Gnomes Gnomes on the Range!

Ooooh I totally forgot about the Atlanta DIS meet tomorrow. Can't wait to hear all about it!

I am headed to the World in 34 days and I cannot wait!! :yay:

I'm also plotting a May 2011 trip... :rolleyes1

As for Star Wars, I love the original 3 movies and the ride in DHS. The most recent 3 movies I have been less than impressed with. My cousin is a Star Wars "geek" and loves Clone Wars so I've been meaning to check it out but never have. Hope the party goes well.

Have you seen all the Star Wars things William Sonoma has? Pancake makers, cookie cutters and more. Must be a retro cool thing. :)

Katie, Connor is all about all things Star Wars -- I have raised him right. Yes, the big DIS meet is today! I am very excited about it!

Christine, I was not a fan of the last three movies -- I guess because I knew Anakin's story would end badly. However, Ewan MacGregor as Obi Wan was nice to watch. ;) I can't wait to see what the new ride at DHS will be like -- Connor and I are very excited that they are redoing it. I have seen all the Williams Sonoma SW stuff -- very cute, but since I don't do well with decorating sugar cookies, I have resisted the urge to buy any of it. Cynthia's ticker caught my eye this morning so I headed over to the new PTR. When are you all going?

Wow C! Exciting fun brewing :thumbsup2

CP, what's funny is Patrick knows who Anikin is from clone wars and he has seen some of the original movies so he knows who Darth Vader is but he hasn't made the connection yet (in which movie does he reveal to Luke who he is?) It will be interesting to see his reaction when he finally realizes

So excited to hear all about your plans for the girls trip C!!!! Going to be a great time! :cool1:

Connor never ceases to crack me up!! I imagine doing anything to Star Wars music makes it more dramatic and fun!!!

Can't wait to hear all about the Atlanta DIS meet!! You guys are going to have a great time!!

Well as far as school goes, the week ended better than it started, but I think with block scheduling it is making it harder for me to get them into the classroom management routine. I just keep staying the course!!! Thanks for all the good thoughts!

The Atlanta DIS Meet was lots of fun!!!

Katie, Darth Vader tells Luke in The Empire Strikes Back that he is his father.

Jen, how long are your classes on block scheduling? We have gone from 75 minutes in reading/language arts to 100 minutes this year, and it is killing me! That is just too long with one group of kids.

Hmm, I know we rented Empire Strikes Back but I can't confirm that he ever watched the entire thing :confused3

Looks like you guys had a great time at the dismeet!

At my old job, we had 90 minute classes and I loved it most of the time. However, now that I have 50 min classes, I am grateful for the less time with certain groups of kids (of course on block, you got all new students at semester time which is nice) In this job, I can't imagine trying to get more than 50 min out of kids because it is all independent work. That's plenty of the same thing!

You guys are making me want to watch the original Star Wars movies again!

Jackie- I had a dream last night that you and Charles decided to go to F&W for a few days. You had a really neat countdown ticker! :lmao:

Jen- are your new tactics/strategies working with the kids to get them more in line? Hope so!!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!! :)

Happy Sunday ladies!!!!

C...all this Star Wars talk made me think of my classes. All five of my classes are a section of English II of one level or another. English II at our school is World Literature, so we start the year discussing archetypes that are universal across all time and cultures, and the most predominant one is "The Hero's Journey." Their summer reading exposes them to this archetype, and to help discuss the elements of that pattern, the first homework assignment they had was that they had to watch 'Star Wars!' I gave them almost a week to take care of that, and throughout the ENTIRE week, I had to endure hearing them all moan and groan about "having" to watch that movie! :) By the end of our discussion though, they all get why the watched it, and I think it created quite a few new fans. Their reaction though was that they didn't understand why I didn't have them watch one of the newer ones!!! ;) AAAAAACCCCCKKKK!!!! What are we to do with this generation! ;) I thought you would enjoy that!

Hope you all are having a GREAT weekend....I have been busy nursing Megan back to health. We had a medical scare this week---they thought Megs had Pertussis---even though she had been vaccinated against it long ago. Her fever and cough have been HORRIBLE and she had to stay home Wed-Friday, but I think I am getting my old Megs back! She has even been smiling and laughing today!! YAHOO!!!!! The best part of this whole process was the day we spent talking about how much she would like to go back to WDW the day after Christmas through that whole week. :) Wouldn't that be WONDERFUL!!!! She went through each park and listed the rides/shows that she likes at each one and the restaurants where she wants to eat next time we go back. Gee, I wonder where she gets that planning bug from?!?!?!?!?! ;) Oh how I wish I could just go and book that trip RIGHT NOW! How crazy would that be though....the week after Christmas?!??!?! Holy Holiday Crowds Batman!!!!

Hi gals!!

Anyone else submit their application for the Disney Mom's Panel today??

At least it looks like I beat the cutoff of 20,000 applicants this year:rotfl2:

Well I'm not a mom yet so I guess that cuts me out LOL!!! Someday though!! Hope you get it P!!!!

Things are going well at school, the kids are starting to settle and we're starting to get things done, but it's always a work in progress!!! I'm a little nervous about tomorrow because I'll be out and who knows how they are going to behave with a sub! I didn't give them warning ahead of time I just want to see how it is going to go with them!!! LOL!!

Thinking of you all! Hope you're having a great week!

P, I submitted my Mom's panel application. I don't know if they will consider me qualified because it said you had to have travelled in the last year to Disney but then the application asked when was your last family trip.

Oh well, not like I was getting my hopes up but it's fun to dream!

Do you think Disney will count being a mom to a dog?? :lmao:

Good luck to all the contestants! What a cool opportunity!! :)

Well, I applied AGAIN this year. I fear my writing lacked any luster, but I have to say at this point, I am just applying because I have to at least try. Can't help but cross my fingers though.

Good luck Katie and Paula! I think it would be really neat if someone I knew was chosen.

hehehe I think it would be neat if anyone I know makes it thru the 1st round :lmao:

They didn't ask much on this initial app..... I don't see how it would help weed too many people out :confused3

Did either of you mention the DIS when they asked about resources??? I've heard its been all but a death knell in the past....but, I put it on anyway though ;)

Last year I got my app in within the alotted time, but it was already closed due to # apps..... soo YAY! I made it farther already this year!! :rotfl2:

Paula, I did mention the DIS for resources -- after all, it's where I get most of my info. Hurray for a week and six days! It will be time for your trip before you know it! :woohoo:

I mentioned the Dis too (along with a kiss-butt to the official WDW site :rolleyes1 and allears)

I got a kick out of the true/false question about WS. Did either of you give the correct info? I don't know if they wanted it but figured I would throw it in anyway!

What kinds of questions do they ask on the application? Fingers crossed for all of you!

P- can't believe your trip is so close!!! :yay:

Katie, I mentioned the official website and allears, too. I couldn't help but supply the correct info about World Showcase, but I did resist saying, "But it feels like five miles after transversing it for Kim Possible missions." :lmao:

You guys are all too cute!! I'm so going to apply next year mom or not, can't hurt to see what would happen LOL!!!

YAY for your trip being so close Paula!!!! 13 days, less than 2 weeks!! WOOT WOOT!!!!
