Really enjoying your reviews and excellent pictures:thumbsup2 . 50's Prime Time is our familiy's favorite restaurant at WDW - so glad you enjoyed it!

P.S. - The "google thing" is called a viewmaster!

Love the reviews, this is the first day on DIS board. I just spent about 2 hours reading your 15 pages. I even made kids have quiet reading time so I could finish. I would love the itinerary cards. Who made them?

Another day of yummy food! Hope you enjoyed the KTTK tour, we loved it. Sorry to hear that you got grief for taking pictures at the Kona Cafe, people really should mind their own business - we need photos!

Laur's princess:

Yet another great installment!!

Do you happen to have a Trip Report as well? :)

Glad you enjoyed KTTK, we've booked it for this trip and I'm excited to be eating at Columbia Harbour House

I wish I could try the Tonga Toast as so many people rave about it, but I hate bananas and cinnamon, so might not be the wisest of choices! We do have an ADR for breakfast at Kona though on our first morning, and am looking forward to the macadamia pineapple pancakes!!

More! More!! You have me really wanting to make an ADR at Trail's End!

I hear the little pitter patter of my heart when I look at those yummy sundaes from Ghiradelli. Maybe it's the pitter patter that my feet will do to run off the extra calories that I'm going to consume at Disney. Does anyone know if you can use snack credits at Ghiradelli?

All I have to say is--WOW!:donald:
We're not going to WDW until fall of 2010, but yes, I am already looking into things to do. Your review and pics are awesome. I love reading everyones trip reports. Can't wait to read more. And - to Eeyores tail (?) can I have a template of the itinary(sp?) cards?

Monday 12th May

Finally a whole day of Disney meals!

Hello Pooh's Honey Pot!! I just got on board to your reviews... am enjoying them. But, more importantly, I just noticed you are from Norwich England!!!

My husband is from there and we visit his family all the time. He graduated from UEA!!

I know I have only read a few of your reviews so far, I am on page 4? of 15? or so. But, you seem like such a kindred spirit in terms of what you rate as high quality food.

Your husband looks soo much like Jake Gyllenhaal (lucky girl ;)) that I feel like I'm reading a dining report starring Donnie Darko! You must've heard that before, though, no?

No I hadn't but I can see what you mean! Yum! Someone I used to work with thought he looked like Jack out of "Lost"! I quite liked that as well!!

Please don't take offense, but where are you putting it all? :rotfl:

s

Chins and thighs!!!!!! :rotfl:

love that milkshake, ooozing out of the shaker!!!

This was so good! I just wish I'd had the chance to try the Oreo shake at Sci-Fi as well!!

Holy mackeral! You are soooo funny..."See that skeleton in the corner, that's my wife after not eating for an hour"

OMG! I am laughing so hard! I guess it's because I have already seen what you have eaten the whole trip! How on earth you two stay so skinny is beyond me!

Thanks for posting all of this, though. I am definately going to try EOS.
BTW, most of our KFC's here in Ohio are terrible. My boss loves the mash bowls!

Lisa

Darn my lack of knowledge about the mash bowls - I am going to have to waste a meal at KFC next year just to try them!! :(

Yes try EoS they have so many good things, though my best sandwich of the trip is still too come . . .! :)

All caught up now.:thumbsup2 Sounds like Prime Time was a blast - I've never been there. I do make a really good meatloaf though and DH makes great pot roast.:goodvibes

I will let you know how my first attempt at potroast goes this weekend! Yes we loved Prime Time, one of our very top meals of the trip!:thumbsup2

We will definately try the Cheesecake Factory, my trippie has disappeared into oblivion now as we went at Christmas, if you extend the UK Trip Reports to the lsat year, it starts on page 4, I did it day by day so quite hard work to catch up on so no pressure, I thought you may enjoy as there are just the two of us as well, anyways here is the link to the first copule of days x
[/url]

Great thanks, will catch up with it tomorrow (Gotta see the Apprentice final tonight, prioroties!!) :thumbsup2

You so need to try them next time you are in the States, they are sooo yummy. Mash with pieces of fried chicken, sweetcorn, cheese and gravy, soooo good!

The food at the 50's PTC always looks so good, I am going to have to try to be brave enough to go.

Laur's princess:

We loved it, and much gentler than Whispering Canyon - you will enjoy it!

I still don't know how I ended up with those dry old wedges! :furious: Mash is my top tipple!

I just wanted to let you know I'm another person that's enjoying your reviews! popcorn:: You have a very entertaining writing style! :thumbsup2 I'm just sorry that it'll all be over soon.... :worried: We're going to WDW in July and we eat at 50's Prime Time every single trip! My daughters consider it one of our "traditions". (Btw, our restaurant "traditions" keep growing....)

Kim

Hi there! Don't worry, PLENTY more grub still to come! Oh lucky you with your trip still to come! Have some smores for me, and your daughter is right, its definitely a place for tradition!! :goodvibes

So glad to hear you loved it here. We are going for the first time in September because it was recommended to us. Great reviews by the way. Can't wait to read more.:thumbsup2

Oh have fun! I would never have tried it without all the reiews on these boards - its amazing how much I missed out on before!

That Tonga Toast looks like a cardiac arrest on a plate, now how to fit it in on our trip????

...... Hmmmmm (looking at schedule) there must be away.

OK found a spare day, is it that good that it is worth,

1. Dropping In-laws at Seaworld
2. Parking at MK
3. Taking monorail to Captain Cooks
4. Pick up Tonga Toast
5. Head to MK.

Kirsten

Another great update, and no you're not the only one who knows exactly what they're going to order months before they even land in the US!

I could probably tell you what I am having next May if I tried hard enough!!:rotfl2:

Just finished reading it all - oh my, where on earth do you put it :rotfl2:

Just wanted to jump on the whole 'Norfolk bandwagon' thing and say that my in-laws are from Caister. I am ashamed to admit I've never been to Norwich.

I am so going to look out for those magic cookies next time we're at Disney :)

Ah my mum is from Caister! We take the dogs there to the beach sometimes -its nice, yet chilly!!!

I've just found your fantastic reviews :goodvibes Although why I read them before dinner I have no idea, as now I'm ravenous (and I'm pretty sure we've got no tonga toast in the cupboards :( )
Totally agree with your opinion of Golden Corral - we adore eating breakfast there (unfortunately we then have to waddle around for the next few hours after eating  )
And a person after my own heart - a takeaway pizza after the flight. Have you ever tried CiCi's just up from DTD? It has gorgeous takeaway pizzas...mmm!

Looking forward to reading more :goodvibes

No tonga toast in cupboards - thats too sad :worried:

No I haven't heard of CiCi's - will try that one next year thanks! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say that we ate at the Cheesecake Factory for the first time in February during our Hawaii vacation. We ended up eating there 3 out of the 5 nights because I was in love with it!!!! Thanks to your dining trippie we now know there is one in Orlando:goodvibes It has been officially added to our meal schedule:thumbsup2

Great minds, thats exactly what we did in Vegas!! Three nights out of 7! All those buffets I missed, but so worth it!

Butter finger is a bit like our crunchie bar but peanut butter flavoured, I think :confused3

I didn't mind it, but not a patch on the divine reeses pieces!!!

P.S. - The "google thing" is called a viewmaster!

Ah ha!! I asked TG if that was what it was called and he said no - men!!!! :furious:

Love the reviews, this is the first day on DIS board. I just spent about 2 hours reading your 15 pages. I even made kids have quiet reading time so I could finish. I would love the itinerary cards. Who made them?

Ah welcome! I am so honoured to be your first post!!! Well done or training the kids young - they need to respect the Disney time! PM me your email address and I will send you the cards - I'm sure Eeyores Tailfinder won't mind! :thumbsup2

Another day of yummy food! Hope you enjoyed the KTTK tour, we loved it. Sorry to hear that you got grief for taking pictures at the Kona Cafe, people really should mind their own business - we need photos!

Laur's princess:

The tour is really worth doing, though TG fell in love with our guide and spent the rest of the trip keeping an eye out for her!!!

I knew my duties and no amount of mockers would stop me taking pictures!!:)

Yet another great installment!!

No I couldn't be doing with a trip report, in case you didn't notice I am a food girl!!!:rotfl2:

The tour is really enjoyable, but wear comfy shoes! By the end I was fading fast!!

I still remember your review of breakfast lasagna, regarding hidden cinnamon!! So yes, avoid the tonga toast!!!! :rotfl2:

Trails End . . . not luxury but cetainly lovely!!!

I hear the little pitter patter of my heart when I look at those yummy sundaes from Ghiradelli. Maybe it's the pitter patter that my feet will do to run off the extra calories that I'm going to consume at Disney. Does anyone know if you can use snack credits at Ghiradelli?

Wish I had tken a picture of the nw meu for everyone!!! I LOVE it here!

No way?! Who knew there were so many Norfolk Dis-ers?!

By high quality food do you mean lots of it?!:rotfl:

I have to say YES! I would do that for some right now!

I like the way you are dumping the in-laws at a lesser park before heading off for heaven and MK!!!!!!

Tuesday 20th May

We treated ourselves to another Golden Corrall feast today (and I mean feast). Again nothing spectacular but nothing bad and you can’t beat it for the price! My cup of tea took ages to arrive so I forgot to take pictures, sorry! 8/10.

As you know we had suffered with a few disappointing Krispy Kreme experiences this trip and we didn’t plan to try any more. But fate had other ideas and on our way to the Mall at Millenia (I needed more Crocs, you cannot have enough Crocs) we stopped at traffic lights, and there next to us was a big Krispy Kreme shop that we knew nothing about!! Well you can’t argue with destiny, so in we went. These were not bad thank goodness!!!! We only bought four rather than our traditional dozen and they were nice – not the best I’ve ever had but a vast improvement. Plus the staff were polite and the store seemed clean. A vast improvement! Orlando redeemed itself on the KK front (though Vegas and the UK still win!). 8/10.

Now I had two aims on this years vacation in order to fully consider myself an “American in the making” - I wanted to try cornbread, and a chilli cheese dog! I am convinced knowing about these delicacies will impress the Visa people when I try to emigrate!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Well the cornbread trials went down a treat, so time for the chilli cheese dog. After perusing all the menus for months I knew we could get one at Pop Century, so off we went.

First off rudest service I experienced all trip, even including the first KK shop!! Bear in mind this was about 2.30pm, so they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet. Two “gentlemen” from Jamaica according to their name badges (and a country I will now never bother to visit) ignored us while they carried on their chat, then looked at us, then ignored us again and on it went. When they finally felt ready to take our order they messed it up three times! All I ordered was two chilli cheese dogs and a side of chilli cheese fries (I felt I should do the chilli-cheese thing in style!) so it wasn’t exactly hard to get right. And their attitudes sucked – no Disney magic here! Just needed to get all that off my chest!:furious:
CIMG2734-1.jpg

Onto my long awaited chilli cheese dog! The roll was lovely – good and soft. The sausage was nice – meaty and thick. And the chilli was nice. But the cheese – what the heck is this rubbish cheese people?!!!! It was the most gross, artificial, un-cheesy, squirty cheese I have ever encountered in my life. There I sat in the middle of the foodcourt trying to scrape it off my chilli (didn't want to waste the chilli)!! So it turns out I like chilli dogs, but not chilli cheese dogs!! I dunked it in mustard as well – that’s the thing to do, isn’t it?!! Am I ready for my nationalisation test now?! :rotfl2:

Now all that said, I could tolerate the cheese on the fries.

Anyway TG absolutely loved it and as a result we are staying at Pop next year so he is nearer to the food court. Seriously. Men are crazy creatures. He doesn’t seem to realise this will mean we are further from the Magic Cookie bars and the beignets!

TG 9/10 (loses 1 point for service), me 6/10 (loses point for service and 3 points for evil cheese)

Chef Mickeys. We had been here once before back in 2005 but it had been part of a trip with a group, and was really rushed so we were looking forward to going again! I should own up right now that I have a massive soft spot for the Contemporary, as flying through it on the monorail is my first ever Disney memory, so I am bound to be a bit biased here I’m afraid!

We arrived a few minutes late as I was busy trying on princess tiara’s in the shop, but eventually checked in at the podium and were seated really quickly – the buzzer went off before we even had our photo taken. Our waiter came straight over and he was very nice – we were in the room nearest the podium so nice and close to the food! The only let-down was that when the characters do their dancey bit no one in our room waved their napkins around (apart from me!). There was a bit of a lack of atmosphere, but that’s nothing major, I just think the people with kids should have been making an effort for the poor little things!

So food! First plate, I had a few tomatoes and olives which I love, a really good pasta salad (good apart from the peas, who likes peas!?) lumps of cheese and of course – a cornbread muffin! Woo hoo! I could have eaten this plateful again and again, it really hit the spot. TG had rolls, salad, pizza, cheese, and I think that's some salami as well. Not bad for round one!
My plate

TG's plate
CIMG2751-1.jpg

On to the entrée’s. We had LOADS, I mean loads. I have seen a few unflattering reviews about dinner here but we thought everything was top-notch. I had a hot pasta torterlini (sp?) dish which was to die for (though again had peas I had to pick out!), a piece of turkey pie, some roasted red-skin potatoes, some mash. The veg were a bit weird – the broccoli was in egg and the carrot was in orange. This was not good, but its vegetable so who is going to eat that on vacation anyway?! The cornbread stuffing had cranberry in it I think, I didn’t like this – don’t mess with the cornbread people!! Stic with the muffins! TG had chicken, pasta, turkey pie, roasted potatoes, mash and carrots

Me
CIMG2756-1.jpg

My second plate consisted mainly of more of that divine pasta tortelinni! There was a big dish full of chicken with – I think – Thai spices. I just had a wing, this was really flavoursome! I had some more mash as well. TG had the same as he had for his first plate – neither of us made it as far as the carving station even once!

Our waiter brought us out a celebration cupcake then as it was our anniversary (*well strictly speaking it was our fake-iversary but that’s a long story!). TG ate it all! Apparently it was moist but I was still ploughing through my mound of pasta at that point so missed out.

My 2nd plate and cake!
CIMG2760-1.jpg

I had to pop to the restroom at that point, and can honestly say that my tummy was so unbelievably full that I couldn’t hold it in to walk past all those people in the room. I was mortified! I had eaten SOOOO much, I just had to cross my arms over my belly and hope that covered it. So I was stuffed basically. No way was I eating anything else. :faint:
.
.
.
.
Yeah right.

On to dessert!!!! :rotfl:

We had a little bowl of icecream each first with gummi bears on top. Now this sounds silly but it was too cold to eat! Even when it started melting it was just killing my teeth. So we gave up on that and went to the good stuff.

Here we have a perfectly divine dollop of chocolate mousse on an oreo – that was good! We also have a big gooey chocolate brownie, the little tart was key lime I think, and a chocolate rice crispie square - everything nice apart from the rice crispie square -really don't like them it seems!
CIMG2773-1.jpg

TG had the brownie, the oreo mousse thing, chocolate cake, and a plain rice crispie square
CIMG2774-1.jpg

TG gives it 10/10! I am 9.5/10 – they lose half a point for messing with the cornbread. This was probably better food than Crystal Palace to be honest, but we prefer the characters at CP! We are trying this for breakfast next year so I hope its as good! I believe they do the peanut butter and jelly pizza here than I tried in Disneyland last year? I look forward to reacquainting myself with that little delight!

We were meant to go out tonight to Jellyrolls, but we were the only things rolling, all the way back to the room and into bed. I’m not sure if you have Weebles in the US, but that was us two, just wobbling our way back to the room!

I would never feel hungry again. :faint:

Coming up soon, Kona Café breakfast part 2, Ghirerdellis, Pizza Hut, and the final Goofy’s MYO snack.

I'm loving your dining reviews! I can't believe how much you can eat!

And, speaking as an American, you're not quite ready for your "naturalization" test! You need to remember that we use "z" here instead of "s"! :rotfl2:

Once again you leave me wondering "Where does she put it"?:confused3 I feel stuffed just reading....:rotfl: TG wanting to stay at POP to be close to the food court had me :rotfl2:

I am so enjoying your reviews - you have such a gift for it I think you should go every year just to entertain us!!!:rotfl2:

I'm feeling fat and bloated just from reading.

I wanted to try cornbread, and a chilli cheese dog!

First of all, just let me tell you that I am thoroughly enjoying your reviews ! And then, in the interest of international relations of course, let me suggest a solution to your chili cheese dog dilemma - next time, order it with the chili and the SHREDDED REAL CHEESE underneath it. I assure you this will make a huge difference ! I am not a fan, but my husband is, and this was his solution to the unidentifiable orange goo . . . . ! At Pop, they have this cheese at every station, so its not a problem ! Hope it helps !

What a bummer that you had such poor service at Pop:confused3
I've stayed there several times, and actually had wonderful experiences at the food court, very friendly CMs. Hopefully, it will be better for you next year!

Thanks for the review of Chef Mickey's! We've always done breakfast, not dinner, so it was great to see that and the desserts. The look delish!:goodvibes

Darn my lack of knowledge about the mash bowls - I am going to have to waste a meal at KFC next year just to try them!! :(
I have to weigh in on the mash bowls for you. I HATE KFC. With a passion, seriously it makes me ill thinking about it. With that said, we went there about a year ago b/c DF loves it so much. I reluctantly ordered the mash bowl, oh my a little piece of heaven. I don't mind going there anymore. It's worth a repeat trip. ::yes::

I second this suggestion. Real cheese adds to the flavor and very yummy...

That orange easy cheese is a product of Chernobyl Farms. Avoid all all cost! :lmao:
