Does anyone have any experience dining Gluten Free at these parks? We haven't been there in years and are planning to go this June and now have 2 family members with Celiac Disease. Do you have to make ADRs there? Any help appreciated!

If you know where and when you want to eat, most places will accomodate you. I'd suggest calling Guest Services at 407-224-4233 ahead of time and they can assist you with this.

Any more details on how these accomodations work? Are they as good as Disney? We're looking at planning a spring 2010 trip and I have celiacs and a friend has a dairy allergy.

The counter services places are not great but they can give you a list of the foods that have diary or gluten. To get that list you will need to go to Guest Services and see if they can have a food manager come over for you. The restaurants that are not counter service are the easiest to get accomodations. You can let the chef know and they will be glad to give you recommendations or modify a recipe for you.

The counter services can't make those changes and even asking at the counter service wouldn't help much because few of the workers there know what is in the ingredients. Only the food manager can answer those questions for the counter service.

i would say the sit-down restaurants are as good as Disney with special requests. The counter services are not as good with special dietary requirements as Disney.

I'd call ahead to guest services and see if you can find out what can be done rather than waiting until you get there.

**if you are going after Feb '09 Pizza Fusion is opening a new chain and their GF pizza is fabulous--my DS13 thought it was the best pizza he ever had in his life
**Mythos was great with gluten free. The flourless cake was to die for. Yummy.
**We ate twice at Margaritaville, the 1st chef who came to our table told us that his daughter needed to be GF, too, so that made me very happy.
**Whole Foods is only 5 minutes away from hotel. The address is 8003 Turkey Lake Road Phillips Crossing Orlando, FL 32819.

This is awesome! Thanks so much, we will check out all your favorites :yay:

I have Celiac and was there last month. We at Finnegan's at Universal and the NBA restaurant, and both were great. Your family shouldn't have trouble eating at Universal (Disney was great with Celiac too). I've also eaten at Emerils (need OpenTable ressie) and Mythos. Those were great too!

I had a bad experience at MargarittaVille 2 years ago. They told me that I could eat a particular dish (forget what) and when it came out to me, it had a sauce on it. Before I ate it, I double checked with them and it did have gluten in it. I had them take it back and just got a burger with no bun (but my family had long finished their dinner by then). So I really didn't have a great experience there.

I like to make a reservation at a restaurant, if they take them and if I'm going during a busy time (we made our ressies for NBA as we entered IoA at a dining booth). It doesn't hurt to have the reservation and it might save you time.

I can also report that the restaurants at Portifino Bay Hotel have gluten free pasta. I needed egg free pasta for my DD and they used glutem free pasta that also had no eggs :goodvibes My kids LOVED that spaghetti--ate the whole bowl licked clean.
