Gluten Free Cookies?

I thought I would post this question on this board because a lot of people are on special diets. I brought lunch to my son's IEP meeting. Fixed sandwiches, cookies. Bought chips and drinks. However, his speech teacher is on a gluten free diet. I felt bad that I didn't have anything for her.
Does anyone have a recipe for a gluten free cookie? Is there a brand of cookies that I could find at my local healthfood store? I would really like to make her something.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Kinnikinick makes a gluten free cookie like an oreo. Pamela's makes gluten free cookies that are like soft baked homeade cookies. Enjoy Life makes many cookies but most taste like sand. Good luck!

I posted in another thread about gluten a list of resources available for people looking for gluten free food. There are many gluten free snacks out there but one problem is that some, not sure the percentage, also have other allergies. There are many gluten free cookies and snacks as well as flour, baking power and other ingredients for do it yourself cookies.

Some people with gluten sensitivity are so sensitive that they might not want to eat a cookie you made vs. one from the package because of the risk of cross-contamination in your kitchen or that an ingredient wasn't gluten free.

Just wanted to throw that out there - the store bought might be best. That is super cool that you are thinking of her!:goodvibes

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. I didn't even think of cross contamination. I'm going to look for the 2 brands that Puglover suggested. It's good to know a brand name. I would hate to give her something that tasted like sand!

A list of companies making gluten free items. I spent nearly an hour cllicking on links. Excellent source for gluten free products.

Has gluten free flour for making at home bread and other baked goods.
They have things like date sugar, cornstarch, flour and other baking needs. Like most places they often use beans or rice as a substitute but the flour, date sugar, maple sugar, cornstarch and grits all are gluten free and purely that item.

I never tried this company which sells dry mixes.

Ingredients: Manioc (tapioca) flour, modified manioc starch (100% manioc), iodine-free sea salt, cream of tartar, sodium bicarbonate.
