I am planning a Dec. trip back to WDW and this will be the frat time I've gone since being diagnosed as gluten intolerant. Trying to plan breakfast options for every day--some that I can plan ahead and do ADRs for and then a whole list of options for days we don't want to plan a lot but that I can use to feel good about getting a safe breakfast. We have the Deluxe Dining Plan, so between credits and snacks, we can make the most of our options. Two adults on this trip, so we don't have to worry much about character breakfasts. We are staying at Wilderness Lodge. SO, what are your favorite options for gluten free breakfast at WDW? I really appreciate all the helpful hints on this board. I'm just a little stressed about a week's worth of dining out gluten free!

I can totally understand being overwhelmed with all of the options and the idea of dining out GF for a week (and avoiding cross contamination or getting gluten unintentionally). But, I can say that WDW is absolutely the best place for food allergies/special diets! :thumbsup2 I've been there for a week at a time and eaten all meals out (I'm gluten and dairy free) and never gotten sick from the food. The chefs are really wonderful there and they'll make sure to take those extra steps in assuring your safety and that you have yummy food options.

With that said, here are my favs for breakfast:

Kona: Low-key atmosphere with great options. Best Mickey waffles on property imo! I tend to get the Big Kahuna entree modified here. It's eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, and ham with allergy friendly Mickey waffles. Amazing! Sometimes I think they have to roll me out of there, I'm so stuffed! :rotfl2:

Kouzzina: I wasn't so sure I'd like this place the first time I went there, but it's now one of my favs (so much so, the last time I was there, the chef said, "Oh it's you!"...I do live about 1 1/2 hours from WDW now, but still! I guess I really like the place). Their eggs imo are the best on property. They cook them in really high quality Greek extra virgin olive oil (I love those scrambled eggs). They have really good Mickey waffles (allergy friendly) here too. You can also get a cherry maple syrup or plain maple syrup. Yum!

Boma: I just love the African inspired foods there. It's done in such a way that even picky eaters like it--just very easy approachable African flavors. The chefs here are really wonderful (once was able to contact them in advance and arrange for a gluten/dairy free bobotie..omg so amazing!). They (as of May) still carried Kinnikick muffins and donuts (anything that involves a GF donut or muffin count me in!), you can get GF french toast, Mickey waffles, and custom omelets there. They are really wonderful because they'll make almost any buffet item they serve there in the back for you, if you feel concerned about the cross contamination. Definitely a fav!

Of course, there's so many other wonderful places on property, but those are my top picks!

Can't wait to hear where you decide to go! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see everones choices!

Our favorite breakfasts for a gluten free fmaily are Ohana's and Akershus (Norway). Keep in mind that we have 2 children, but even though they are character breakfasts the food is fantastic.

At Ohana's you get their signature juice (tasty!) and a fruit tray to start. Then they bring you out a huge plate of sausage, bacon, eggs and potatoes. My husband loves it here just because of the sausage :rotfl2: Soon after they bring you a steaming tray of fresh GF Mickey Waffles with real syrup. Everything can be refilled. Oh, and the coffee is good (which we all know is rare at Disney). Of course there is Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto, but you don't have to interact much if you don't feel like it. The atmosphere is laid back and nice and the service is alway wonderful.

At Akershus you can enter the park before opening if you get an early reservation. Walking around EPCOT with the music playing and nobody else in sight is king of fun. We got some great pictures of the family in front of attractions without another person in the picture. When you enter the restaurant you first get a picture (included on the price so just smile and try to seem excited) and then are directed to your table. the have a cold food buffet including fruits, deli meats, cheeses and yogurt. You can also sample herring 2 ways (and yes, it is GF, my husband insisted on eating it...I don't recommend it if you are riding Mission Space first...). The hot food is good and includes the standard breakfast offerings of eggs, bacon and sausage. they will also toast you bagels (Udis), toast and English muffins and brought us out GF donuts and muffins (kinnikinnik I think). They also do a GF version of the potatoes they serve...not excellent.

Have a great trip and let us know how the GF eating was! :thumbsup2

Wow! So excited they had Udi's bagels and possibly Kinnikinnick donuts...those are two of my daughter's favorites! She will be so excited if they have them when we go in November. Do you happen to remember what flavor donut they had? Thank you!!

At Boma, they have the chocolate chip and blueberry Kinnikick muffins and cinnamon sugar donuts.

I was able to get Udi's cinnamon raisin toast at the Wave recently. Yum!

YES! They had the cinnamon and sugar ones which they wamred up for us...yummmmmmmmmm :cool1:

We also had them at the Crystal Palace breakfast and at the Pop Century Food Court. At Pop they said if we had called ahead they would have had other kinds for us too. I heard a rumor that the Udi's blueberry and double chocolate muffins are available at some locations now too! :cheer2:

Thank you for posting this! I only booked 1 breakfast (buffet) for my whole trip because I am gluten and lactose intolarent as we as being allergic to eggs so breakfast is never in the cards for me :sad1: but I love that they do have some options! Disney is very advanced with their gluten free choices! :cool1:

My 14yo can't have gluten, milk or eggs among other things. Like you we don't do many breakfasts because there aren't a lot of options, but I can definitely assure you that you won't leave hungry, at least from the ones we typically go to.

Captain's Grille (there was also a bunch of fruit plus they offered ham and sausage which she didn't want)

I won't bother with Akershus of CRT for breakfast because their menus are so much more limitted and I'm not interested in frozen Van's waffles (last I heard). Crystal Palace I hear also has a lot of options but they are so hit and miss regarding experiences that I'm afraid to try them again. The one time we ate there (lunch, not breakfast) the chef was not on his game and if I wasn't paying attention my DD would have gotten very sick. I've read several similar experiences and then there's the majority which are glowing experiences so it seems to me that there's one bad chef among several amazing ones. It makes me want to try and hope for a good one but at the same time I'm very nervous about it and haven't been able to bring myself to book the ADR (for any meal; it would probably be lunch again rather than breakfast because there are just so many more options and frankly lunch fits our touring plans better). Chef Mickey is one I'd be willing to try since our dinner experience there was so amazing. When we ate dinner there they had in house made cupcakes that were top 8 free and delicious and I'm sure they could serve those at breakfast as well (yes I allow things like that on vacation) plus they have lots of ingredients to work with so I figure if they have things like salmon on the buffet they can even serve up some of that.

Just got back from an 11 day trip that was gluten, nut, and garlic free. We went to both 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickeys as far as buffets and then Kouzzina. Both buffets are amazing giving gf Mickey waffles and most of the buffet is safe. The chef at Chef Mickeys also made him a gf cupcake for his graduation. Kouzzina is solid though the previous chef (Marilyn) was so amazing it was hard for the current chef to compare. Hope this helps!

Thank you for posting all those delicious meal pictures! They look amazing and making me very hungry! :joker: now I know what to order when I get there :cool1:

Thanks! All this info is so helpful! Anyone have some favorite quick options for gf breakfasts for mornings where a sit down breakfast doesn't fit in? I'm planning to do mostly TS breakfasts, but I know there are some days we won't want to stick to such a strict schedule.

I know the Pop Food Court offered us bagels (udi's) and toast for a quick snack. They also had yogurt and fruit cups available. I assume that the other resorts would have similar offerings. At Pop we also got a FULL plate of food (bacon, eggs, potatoes, and Mickey Waffles) for 1 QS credit. It only took about 5 or 6 minutes to prepare and fed a family of 4 in the morning. Now thats a deal! :thumbsup2

Every resort we've stayed at has been able to do allergy Mickey waffles for us in the CS area. I did get Kinnikinnick muffins one time as well as soy yogurt one time (we've got laundry lists of allergies). There are fruits, yogurts, eggs, breakfast meats and potatoes as well available.

That being said, most days we just eat food that we've brought or ordered from Garden Grocer for breakfast. We tend to eat small breakfasts first thing in the morning so a small bowl of cereal or breakfast bar is typically enough. By eating food we've got in our room, our morning routine goes a LOT faster making it easier to get to the parks for rope drop. We'll typically get our Mickey waffles on a day we plan to just spend around the resort so no rushing that morning.

Grand Floridian Cafe offers Gf pancakes and waffles as well as eggs, omelettes and toast
