My family will be on the Wonder in a couple of months. My husband and I have Palo reservations, and we are so much looking forward to it. It will be our first time at Palo. I have a gluten allergy. Does anyone have experience with eating gluten-free at Palo? I realize the restaurant is very Italian, which to me means pasta, pizza and good breads. Will there be enough gluten-free offerings to make it worthwhile for me? Just curious on anyone's experience.

We always eat at Palo, mostly for dinner, but occasionally for brunch. My wife is allergic to both gluten and dairy so eating at an Italian restaurant is not ideal for her. The folks at Palo are wonderful. Go there on the first day of the cruise and let them know when you will be eating there. My wife usually requests that they send up a gluten free pizza dough that they can cook and cut up in their oven so that she can have bread with her appetizer. She will also look at the menu and pre-order anything that she wants. Many of the things on the menu can be made gluten and dairy free. They were even able to make her a gluten and dairy free souffle.

We were on the Dream last month and she had, I think, the chioppino as an appetizer and then a lobster tail on top of gluten free pasta. Service was outstanding. They will really make you feel as though you are dining in a top notch restaurant.Feeling nostalgic. Wish I were there now. Have fun.

We recently sailed with a friend who is gluten and dairy free. We had both brunch and dinner in Palo (this was on the Magic). They were fabulous with what they were able to get for her. I don't remember everything she ate at dinner -- remember she just ordered a fish entree. But by time dinner was over, she had been given more food than any of the rest of us (and we none of us were walking away hungry.) At brunch, she didn't order a pizza but the server brought her one anyway. She commented that she doesn't typically like gluten-free/dairy free pizza but she couldn't stop eating this one. Had a special bread bowl for her at dinner, the bread there was much better than the gluten free rolls she was given every night in the MDR. We had her gluten-free requirement in the reservation but didn't talk to Palo before going for our first meal there and they were still able to accommodate her easily.

I've done GF Palo brunch 3 or 4 times and it was fantastic. Many of the brunch items that are laid out are naturally GF and most of the hot items you order can be made GF. You will NOT go hungry!

You will be absolutely fine. Let them know in advance and they will have everything ready to discuss with you. My friend sailed with us a few years ago and she has a severe gluten allergy. DCL did a fantastic job, she never got even a little bit sick and her Palo meal was the highlight of the cruise. Enjoy!

My only complaint about gf at Palo wad it took forever for the gf pizza I ordered. Almost an hour. And the allergy wad noted in the reservation and confirmed with palo. This was on the Magic. And then it wasn't very good. But the rest of the food was excellent. I highly recommend the strawberry soup!

I was in the fantasy last week and earlier this year on the Magic with Celiac. Disney does such a great job with gluten allergies. (Technically it is not an allergy but it is easier to say it is...).

Palo is probably my favorite Gf meal anywhere. I've been GF for just under 2 years. (So I remember eating food with gluten still). I don't feel deprived. One thing I would recommend, especially if you go for brunch, bring your own crackers with you. Then you can have it with all the cheese!

For dinner I tell my head waiter in the dining room when I'm eating at Palo and let them know that I want GF soufflé. It is soooo amazing. I'm a steak eater and they have caprese and the best antipasti cart ever. It is just such an enjoyable meal. I did get this pizza crust with Parmesan bread this past cruise that was sooo good. And it didn't take long at all.

Go. You will love it if you love food. Even more so if you love antipasti. Mmmm mmm mmm
