I'm hoping someone has been to one of these three places recently and can provide some feedback - I found a couple of threads dating back to 2008 but don't want to rely on those.

These are all reserved with my family and I'm hoping to confirm that I will be able to find enough GF options at each place. I am planning to call to let the restaurants know about the GF request in advance.

My niece was served a half a salmon and GF rolls at HDDR. The veggies were ok. She passed on dessert but they would fix something for her. The ribs were ok but not the fried chicken. My niece does not eat meat except for fish or chicken as well so they fixed the salmon. The chef came out and talk to her to help her find something she wanted. This happen in July 2012.

Here are my reviews from our meals at HDDR and 'Ohana. Note that the most recent time at HDDR, the chef went above and beyond what most should typically expect because we were staying at FW and had plans for several meals at the FW restaurants so he ordered some stuff in special for us. Most of the food was typical but the Babycakes stuff I wouldn't count on in general.

Note that we're off of a heck of a lot more than just gluten so you might have more options than this when you're "only" gluten free.

Thanks for the links - you're right, my diet is far less restricted than your family's. It sounds like the set menu at each can be easily modified for GF. :)

We went to the HDDR and Ohana in December of 2011 with our 5 year nold daughter who has a gluten sensitivity. In both instances, we were quite pleased with the quality and amount of food she was provided.

At the HDDR, the chef told us which of the foods on the menu were safe for her (ribs, potatoes, beans). We asked about getting allergy free chicken tenders and the chef made a HUGE plate of them and allergy free french fries for her. For dessert, she got a GF brownie. She loved the show and the food. We all had a great time.

At Ohana, again, the chef advised us that the pineapple bread wasn't safe for her. She made our daughter a plate with 4 GF Mickey waffles, plus a helping of eggs, sausage and fruit so that she would have food that wasn't cross-contaminated by anything from my husband's or my plate (DD's allergy isn't that severe, but I appreciated the care that the chef took.) Ohana was one of our favorite character breakfasts; great ambiance, fun character interaction, and good food.

We haven't done the Akershus breakfast yet, but had a good experience with their lunch (GF pizza for our daughter).

I would recommend both the HDDR and Ohana breakfast.

I was at both HDDR and Ohana for breakfast in August, and both were pretty awesome gluten-free (I was also on dairy-free and pureed at the time. I'm not on purees anymore, thank God).

Big thing for HDDR though - tell them in advance! I made sure to fill out the special diet form so that they had everything I needed.

HDDR was great - I had salad, and lemonade, they made a fried chicken (pureed, but still super tasty), mashed potatoes, green beans, and chili. For dessert I had the strawberry shortcake (I think they pureed gluten-free rolls with strawberries and sugar and it was delicious!). It was a very happy meal, and I didn't feel left out at all.

I love Ohana for breakfast too! I get a big plate of fruit (pureed! so good!) Mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages (pureed) and bacon (also puree) separate from everyone elses. I just make sure to mention that the rest of my family can get their food right away, so that the staff doesn't take their food off the table before mine arrives.

Good luck and happy eating!

We did Akershus in October 2011 for the princess breakfast and I was newly diagnosed Celiac at the time. They brought out a separate plate for me to eat from and it had most of the regular stuff on it - eggs, bacon, modified potatoes, sausage. I was fine with it. There wasn't much on the buffet I could eat except fruit, but I was more than happy with what I got.

As far as TS breakfast goes with Celiac, by far my best experience was Tusker House. The chef brought out all sorts of GF bread goodies for me (donuts, toast, muffins, etc) and the buffet is pretty well separated out so it was easy to remember what I could have. There was a TON! Just wanted to pass it along as a suggestion for the future. ;)

HoopDeeDoo chef came out and found a good middle ground for (at the time) 8 year old daughter. They offered separate dessert plate for her, but she was tired and full.

Akershus has a family style breakfast and she was able to eat almost everything on buffet. They brought her gluten free bread and made certain that the non g-free was on the opposite end of the table in a separate basket

Ohana - most of the family style dinner was okay for her, the stuff she really wanted that wasn't safe was brought out, made g-free, on a different platter. This was the only sit down we had timeliness issues with, but that seemed to be the server and not the g-free that was the issue. We've eaten there 3 times and only the last was poor services from a timing stand point.

A few of the quick serve places have only one or two options, which stinks if you're eating somewhere unfamiliar.

We where there in November, I'm happy to give you a list and review of each of the quick serve and table serve places we tried.
