Like many of you (I think) when they brought this out in Disneyland I thought it was just amazing and brilliant. ALl those Ears glowing and flashing along with the show. stupendous..
When I heard they were bringing it to WDW I was right chuffed. NOw we are going back for the first time since they brought it to WDW.
there is a catch..
when they did that in DL the first time - they gave those ears away for free. so the shows were full of them and looked brilliant.

Those of you who have seen this in action in WDW - how is it? i'm reluctant to spend to $25 for them ($75 since my wife won't wear em :) ) if we are the only ones, or really just such a small percentage it makes no never mind.

thoughts?

We bought the light up ears for my kids, but there weren't many people wearing them at the Fantasmic show we were at and no one that I could see at the Wishes show. I think those are the only two shows it works with (could be wrong) but I heard from a cast member that during the Osborne Lights, the hats light up and dance along with the lights and that sounds really cool! :)

I just don't see the point in spending the money if we one of the few who have them...
$75 is still $75!

Yea, hardly see anyone with them... too expensive for a family! They need to drop the price to about $15.

They need to drop the price AND make them better--- we bought them when they first appeared in WDW--- DD wore them once--- they are way too clumsy--- heavy, and wouldnt stay on her head--- now, they stay in the house whenever we go to WDW :rolleyes2

We bought them during last year's fall trip for the MNSSHP Hallowishes, villain's party, & fireworks as well as Fantasmic & Wishes during regular days. Not many people wearing them at any of the shows, though. At Fantasmic, some guy behind DH told him to take off his ears because it was distracting him! Luckily we could throw them under our stroller when we weren't wearing them because they are a little heavy. Sadly, we won't be bringing them this upcoming trip because we won't have a stroller so I regret buying them now.

One of my DS-7 twins loves them. We bought a pair in Disneyland last Christmas for a World of Color Show and he was absolutely fascinated by the whole concept - they constantly glow different colors when you are not in a "show." A bunch of people had them there so although not as cool as the videos of when they gave them away, it was still neat to watch. Only thing was, he did not understand that the show actually took the ears over and kept banging on them trying to make them light up.

Bought another pair at WDW (because of course I did not have the DL pair with me and truthfully was not sure they would work at both parks) and was horribly disappointed that they were just as clunky as the DLR ones. He could not keep them on his head to save his life - next time I am trying bobby pins to see if that helps.

So, to the question, "are they worth the price?" I would say no, but he would absolutely disagree with me, so I guess it depends on your view point. Definitely cooler to use at DLR in my opinion though. WOC and Fantasmic do a fantastic job of coordinating the ears in.

At Fantasmic last week we saw almost none in the crowd. Same during the holidays last Winter at Osborne, Wishes and Fantasmic.

And as Buzzin' pointed out, with so few having them if you do buy them yourselves, you won't be enjoying them - others will. For you to enjoy them yourselves you'd have to be looking at each other instead of looking at Fantasmic.

The way I see it is you are paying $75 to amaze the people around you, not really yourself. Pass.

I agree. It would be different if everyone else had them on too, then at least they could amaze me too and we'd all be even. They are heavy and slide off my head if i have to bend over for any reason.

I really don't mean to sound like a stick in the mud but I can't stand that they sell light up items at dark shows. It's mildly irritating to try to watch it with a brightly lit toy waving in front of you.

As I collect ear hats, I don't completely regret my decision to buy those ones on our last trip (DLR). However, there weren't very many at WOC so I wasn't overly impressed. I could only see about 3-4 pair from where we were.

They won't be making the trip again. They're really too awkward for me to wear.

We bought two for the kids last year and were the only ones I really saw with them at Wishes. (Ok, there were a few others, but one night they must have forgot to flip the switch because no ones did anything during the show but the normal color changing). They did work at Osborne but we didn't do Fantasmic. Osborne was kinda cool with them. But will I pack them again this year? I'm on the fence. Will see how much room we have with all the princess dresses and plain Mickey hats and other things we bring back every year. I won't be devastated if they don't make the trip but it will have been a waste of money. I have a stroller still so that helps around the parks with them.

Are they $75 each? I thought they were in the neighborhood of $25?

No - OP mentioned he'd need 3 for his family. I actually HATE these; in DCA they are a total distraction during WOC and with the standing-room-only viewing of that show seeing "over" people is already a problem. Add in the extra height and width of those ears and last time my only view was of a "wall" of blinking hats. HATE them !
