Glendmax Bday Trip w/DISers and HOT Men!

I just found your TR and love it! The pics are great too!

You are so lucky to have stayed at 2 resorts this trip. I'm sure that was fun. Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the busses. I guess with the gas going up, disney also has to cut back a little.

Can't wait for more....

I just found your tr and i love it! We were at WDW the same time as you and had a hot but fabulous time. FYI I was talking to some guys behind us in line at kali river rapids and found out it was gay week. They told me that it is unofficial but is every year on the first week in June. So maybe in the future you will be willing to endure the heat of June for some eye candy!

great work GMax! Such a fun read!:thumbsup2
Happy to hear of your beau............u are too great to be single! Cant wait for details............:smokin:

Thanx 4 sharin all your pix, makes me feel Im right there with u.:dance3:

When my college roomie and I were there in 1985,I had a red shirt on..........after seeing a literal "sea of red"..........I asked someone why everyone was in red....and they answered...Gay day. I was in red AND with my girl friend/college roomie,............ we had a great many laughs over the yrs about that red day!

Glenda -

I just love reading your TRs. I always feel like I'm right there with you. The last one I was able to follow all the way through was the trip with your Mom. Sounds like you're having a great time with MM and I can't wait to see AKL - one of my dreams to stay there.

Love the hot men!:rotfl2: You had me excited waiting to get to that point.

And, you're better on rides than I am! You'll do EE - I did BTMRR for the first time on our last trip and I WILL NEVER ride one of those again. You gave me a great idea to go through the line though. I didn't think people did that.

Have a great weekend! It's supposed to be hot and humid - typical Baltimore summer days!

First I have to say that the Minnie Tiki Kingdom shirt is the ONLY pink shirt i own and I love seeing it on here. It always looks fab on everyone who wears it:thumbsup2

Second- :worship:  :dance3: :yay: for you for riding EE. Its one of my fav rides. (Second only to RnRC)

GMAX!!! I have been waiting for this Trip Report, but of course the few days that I'm not online (I just started working), that's when it's up! Thanks for PMing me with the link!

It's so cool to read about what you and MM did before I met you! Sounds like a fun, fun time!!! I loved all the videos! :) Wooohooo!!! Can't wait for the next installment ;)

Yay :yay: I am loving your report! Brilliant stuff, I was telling my dbf as he was making dinner about all your videos interspersed throughout, love it! You make me laugh, for instance I loved the picture of you on your knees next to the height bar check thingy :thumbsup2 at Dinosaur! Plus both you and MadiMouse in the videos...:goodvibes. Can't wait to read more!

Day 3 cont.

MadiMouse (MM) and I spent the first half of Day 3 at the Animal Kingdom Park. We were both surprised and relieved that it wasn't "Africa Hot" in the park - that is, until we had to walk across the open area after you leave the turnstiles, and before the shuttle busses. It was BLAZING HOT!!!! We couldnt believe the intensity of the heat. But at least we were on our way OUT!

We boarded the shuttle bus to my DVC home, Animal Kingdom Lodge! When I went to the counter to see if our room was ready, I crossed my fingers, and asked MM to do so too. The CM was a bit amused! After taking my info, and typing on the computer . . . the room was READY!!!! Thank God! (Our lugguage though, had not arrived from French Quarter yet. So we would be stuck in our AM outfits a bit longer.) I asked the CM if the room was kinda close to the lobby. She said that it was!!!!

I reserved a value studio room. At the time of the reservation, I asked for a pool view room if possible, since they are waaaay closer than the Savannah View rooms.

After getting the key, we were directed to the first set of elevators, closest to the front entrance and gift shop, to go to the 5th floor.

After we got off the elevator we turned left, walked just a few doors down, and on the left was room 5012! A nice SHORT walk!

IMG_2384.jpg

IMG_2383.jpg

Now it was time for the moment of truth: what kind of view did we get, and would the value room be super tiny?

MM openned the door . . . we were pleased!!!! This room was the same as the regular studio rooms, except: the sofa was closest to the door, not the balcony, and insted of having a woredrobe, there was a closet! YES! To me, the room didnt seem that much smaller!

IMG_2332.jpg

IMG_2331.jpg

IMG_2333.jpg

IMG_2326.jpg

Next, it was time to see what our view was: parking lot, dumpster, a brick wall, the DIS moderators' break room?

I pulled back the curtain . . . Shangrila! A BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL pool view!!! Close enough to see the pool, yet far enough not to see any swimsuit faux-pas!

And now get ready to hear me GUSH over the room!

After we each made some phone calls, and took pics of the room, we both fell asleep!!!!!

Below are a few more pics I took from the balcony:

Up Next: Dinner!

Well you weren't lying when you said the update was coming on Monday! :) Thanks for all the awesome AKL pics!! I have a standard room booked, and I just want to be close to the lobby too! I hope my request gets honored!

great update and pics.

glad u got a room you liked. :thumbsup2

Day 3 cont.

Before MadiMouse (MM) and I even got to the room, I tried to get us a later dinner time, so we'd have more time to rest. But nothing else was available. We had to be at Boma by 4:30pm.

When I woke around 4, I called again to see if our bags were in. They told me that they were, but that it was a 30 min wait, AND an adult HAD to be in the room. HUH? You don't have to be for Magical Express, so why now? I calmly said that we had dinner reservations in a half hour, and needed to get in our bags. The CM said that they would try their best.

By 4:20, they still had not gotten to us, so I sent MM down to Boma, because a DIScelebrity was meeting us for dinner! At 4:28, Vanessa from Bell Services lugged in our bags. Yes, a woman. I was surprised. Since it was sooo late, I told her that I would drop off her tip when I went downstairs. I then reached in my bag and got another pair of shoes, I put on the shirt I'd just bought from the gift shop earlier, put on a fresh pair of wrinkled up shorts (since the ones I had on were slipping down all day) and I grabbed a wash cloth and wiped my face off in record speed!

I RAN downstairs to Boma and there they were: my friend MadiMouse, and introducing . . . LaMagique!!! In person, she is just as cute as the pics in her reports! (here's the link to one of her reports: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18276581#post18276581)

IMG_2351.jpg

After we hugged and squealed after finally being able to see each other in person, we were seated quickly!

Now I have to admit, I did NOT take any notes. Understand, this is my FAVORITE place to eat. So there was no time for a pad and pen. I WANTED FOOD!!!!

I started out with salad w/mango vinegrette, pasta salad and Carrot Ginger Soup. I did this twice. The second time I had a more salad but with Apple vinegrette, pasta salad, and Coconut Curried Seafood Stew.

IMG_2365-1.jpg

The key to eating this much food, was to have very small portions, and talk, and take pics inbetween. I even ordered a Mojito!!!!! Yes, a DISfavorite!

When our waitress came with the drinks, I asked if it was okay to take pics/video at the buffet. She said that people do it all the time. So I took some video of the buffet, and some of the area around us:

The Dessert Area:

It was sooooo much fun talking to LaMagique! After reading her reports (I think 3), she had quickly become someone I wanted to meet. We talked about her time working at Disney, and she shared some stories. Both MM and I wish that we could rewind time, and while in college, do the Disney program! I didnt even know that it existed! We were so proud of LaMagique for doing so much during her college career!

After a little more chit chat, it was time for the entrees!!!! Now don't get too mad with me, I dont remember everything I ate. It was all soooo good. I do remember that I had the salmon, some rice, and some veggies - among other things! HA!

IMG_2359.jpg

IMG_2358.jpg

IMG_2357.jpg

When I got back to the table to see what exotic dishes MM tried, what did I see? Chicken nuggets, and macaroni and cheese. HUH???? Nope, she didnt even try any of the good stuff. It wasn't her cup of tea. Oh well!

At some point while I was drooling at the buffet, MM and LaMagiue told the waitress that it was my bday. So I was surprised by this, mini-cakes incased in chocolate!!!

IMG_2355.jpg

They'd also managed to get the chef to bring over another dessert. Chocalate inside of a warm pastry, and drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was delicious.

IMG_2364.jpg

IMG_2378.jpg

I hadn't anticipated the extra Bday-desserts, and had already made a trip to the dessert bar, to get my favorite: Mini Upside down pineapple cheesecake with white chocolate crusts:

IMG_2374.jpg

I also got a dessert of chilled, sweetened plantains. DEEE-LEEE-SHOUS!!!

Soon, it was time to go. We had so much fun, and I was full!
We ended up chatting in the hall outside of Boma, and taking some pics and video:

IMG_2379.jpg

IMG_2380.jpg

IMG_2381.jpg

While chatting, we discovered that we all like America's Next Top Model. Which inspired the clip below:

We had such an AWESOME time together. It really is amazing how you can connect with people of all walks of life, just because you have Disney in common! LaMagique and I exchanged numbers, because she will be in Orlando when I go back in September! So hopefully we'll get to meet up again!!!

After we said our goodbyes, I left the tip for Vanessa with a note, and then we were off for another adventure . . . .

Day 3 cont.

The rest of this will be from memory. I neglected to take anymore notes for the rest of the trip - sorry was having too much fun!

LaMagique, Madimouse and I had a great time at dinner!

IMG_2349.jpg

After MadiMouse and I split from LaMagique, we freshened up, changed, and went to MGM (Disney's Hollywood Studios), because MM wanted to ride Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollar Coaster again. Also, we wanted to ride the new Toy Story ride!

IMG_2394.jpg

IMG_2395.jpg

Once again, I got in line with her, and took the chicken exits. When we got to ToT, a woman gave us 2 Fast Passes. I felt bad taking it, but knew I did, in order to get through the first part of the line.

We then went over to the Toy Story ride, where we ran into LaMagique! Some of her friends had a Fast Pass for her to get on!

IMG_2391.jpg

Unfortunantly, the CM there said that the single rider line wait was up to 3 hours, so they closed it down. The standby line was over an hour. Oh well . . . at least I'm comming back in SEPTEMBER!!!!!

Feeling slightly defeated, we left for Magic Kingdom. I really wanted to ride Thunder Mountain, TTC, and the river boat safari thingie while it was dark.

Well, we ended up getting stuck in the Spectro Parade traffic. We made it all the way over to Thunder Mountain, and couldnt cross the street. So we sat and waited . . . :rolleyes1 :bored:

IMG_2396.jpg

And when it was over EVERYONE else had the same idea . . . running onto Thunder. I HATE the zig-zag line in all that heat!!! But it was worth it. When we FINALLY got to the boarding area, ther was a crazy CM who decided to act as if he were animatronic. While MM found this VERY funny, he kinda creeped me out. Here's a little clip.

We rode this twice. And once we got to sit in the front row!!!!! It scared us to DEATH!!!! It was GREAT!

Giggling, we made our way over to the Safari Tour Boat thingie (can you tell I'm tired). When we got there, people were getting out of line. They were having technical difficulties. At this point, I was BEAT! I spotted a bench and sat down. MM wanted to know what I wanted to do. In my HEART I wanted to go over to Tomorrow Land to ride the TTC, but my feet, legs and body wanted to go back to AKL!!!

While still sitting there, we called Snowbell! She got to WDW the same day we did. When I asked what she was doing, she said that she was in bed watching TV. I IMMEDIATELY became jealous! When I told MM what she was doing, she said "LET'S GO"!!! I was soooo happy!

Finally, we were on our way home!!!!! And ready to have some sweet dreams!

Up Next: Day 4 and meeting another DIScelebrity!
Go to Page 14!

I only have a litte bit of time left on the computer, so I wont have a chance to reply to everyone. But THANK YOU sooooo much for reading, laughing, and enjoying my report!!!!!

Hope to see more pics from AKL. Never been there yet, but we've got ADR's at Boma for breakfast so we'll see it this time. ::yes::
The breakfast is really good. Try the french toast. It looks different, but its really good. Also, order their juice!

off to work...gotta make the $$ to pay for the wedding I am still trying to plan for next summer...just means no DISNEY TRIP...unless we honeymoon it there...I love WDW but may have to go elsewhere for that.
YAY!!!! So glad that you 2 are finally getting married!!!!

Hi Glenda!!! You've been to Disney two more times since I saw you. That's awesome. Jasmine (my daughter) was there that same weekend!
Sneezie!!!!! So good to see you!!!! I was hoping that you would pop up. Of course I thought about you the day I checked in, wishing you were there to meet me!

Never thought before, but is there a chicken out line at EE? I would love to walk through but I'm to much of a chicken to ride it. :scared1:
Yes there is! I think ALL of the rides have them. After all, you can't have pregnant woman, or a young child trying to sneak on a ride - so they have to have a way to get them out of the ride.

Why am I just hearing about this new man in your life in a trip report? I need a name and birthdate to do a criminal background check::cop: I have to make sure you are in good hands:)
Aww . . . thanks! Funny how times have changed. I've had several offers to do a background check on him! HA!

Don't hate me for it. :rotfl2:
[/COLOR]
You are sooo funny! I forgot you were one of those HOT men!

i agree! we wanted to see it this past trip but the times just wouldn't work out for us. i'm willing to forego FOLK for this in september if you are. i've seen FOLK 3 times now and while i love it, i'm ready for something new!

sorry to go :offtopic: , glenda!
You're not off topic! I really like Nemo better than the Lion King Show! I hope you'll enjoy it too!

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the busses. I guess with the gas going up, disney also has to cut back a little.

Hmmm . . . I dont know if it's the gas prices or not, but I know the next time, I'm getting a car!

Okay DISers, I gotta run! Thanks again so much EVERYBODY for your comments!!!!!
:wave2:

I think it's great you have met so many other Dis members, LaMagique looked good, and it sounds like a fun time was had by all. Just reading about your three park day made me tired, and ready to go back to bed.

I loved the tour of the studio at Animal Kingdom, and enjoyed the view.

Looking forward to day 4. Keep the videos and report coming.popcorn::

Do I need to start making a list of things we need to do in September??

1. Space Mountain
2. Rock n' Roller Coaster.

Girl...seriously if you can do EE you can do RnR!!!

You guys are so funny. The pics of the three of you from Boma look hysterical. And seriously...there is not enough video of you :lmao:

after seeing your video of boma, i REALLY want to eat there now! erica and i have ADRs there in september but we have like 3 alternate plans, so now i'm really hoping boma will work out. that pineapple cheesecake looks so good! white chocolate is my FAVORITE!!!

loved the ANTM video! i love that show and my husband HATES that i watch it! :rotfl2:

and that CM on big thunder was hilarious! you know those guys get so bored so they have to entertain themselves some way!

GMAX!!!! How did I miss this TR for sooo long???? :confused3

My life has been busy with selling my house and a new job, so I've neglected the DIS and you!!! :scared1: I am very sorry!!!!!

I am caught up and can't wait to read more about your trip! I am also jealous that you write them so fast! I am still writing my TR from my Nov trip and have 1 1/2 days left. That will be my mission this week....finish my TR!!!!

After your TR's, I have since road Soarin', which scared me to death but I'll do again and am determined to get on Everest in Sept when I go with DH!!! I think I may miss you, but if not I'd love to meet you "in the flesh"!!!

great update and pics.

looks like a fun evening.

It was great to meet you as well!! OMG, Italy??? That's probably 3-5 years away for me. LOL. You are one lucky girl!:thumbsup2 But, I know how you feel about wanting to go to WDW. We are going to DLR in September for a full week (DH is from Cali). I probably won't be back until July 09. LOL. I complete my master's degree in March so I will want DH to take me somewhere special but he probably won't go for WDW. :rotfl2:
Upon your return from Italy, please give me details b/c that is a future option for us!

I definitely will. We are going through globus vacations. You would not believe how expensive it is. I will be paying for this for EVER... We are doing a dinner in the Tuscan Hills one night. I pre-ordered it for my Mom - The dinner alone is over 250.00 (our dollar stinks)

Great updates and pics :goodvibes

What kinds of cameras do you have? You're pics are so clear.

Thanks for the tour of AKL - one of these days I'll get to see it in person. That's my dream resort to stay at if we could afford deluxe. And, as for BOMA, DH and I want to eat there but couldn't fit it in to our trip this year. Oh well.... I feel like I've eaten there now cause of your pics. That soup sounds awesome, and, I just found a recipe for it on Allears. I will definitely be trying it.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing the rest. Don't worry about not having taken notes - we would never know! :worship:
